Sorry, I believe this is exactly what I meant. If an organizer runs a poor event due to their incompetence it should be known though in my opinion as they should’ve been more prepared. However yes, for the purpose of this thread I think it would be best to point out scams, people who have made events for the sole purpose of raking in money with no regard for the players should be the focus of the thread. Those who intentionally withhold money and information in an attempt to make profit off of events, or other underhanded tactics.
Again, this is just my opinion. I just really think this whole redemption just is ridiculous. Bisonopolis shouldn’t be forced to act as some sort of damn committee of judgement, you’re working too hard to have to mediate through bullshit.
I think the list should operate under conditions where should you be put onto this list you don’t deserve to be taken off, period.
I’m a bit torn, because I feel if someone already had the gall and nerve to willingly scam people and take a couple of bucks out of the pot, they’re probably going to do it again. On the other hand, you need to give people the benefit of doubt.
However, I feel it can be made clear if someone is intending on scamming the community AFTER the fact. I suppose we can rest easy in the sense that if DFG (or anyone else that has voiced displeasure and requested reconsideration for taking themselves off this list, for that matter) screws up again (again, screwing up = shady dealings), they will be on this list indefinitely.

It was my first time going to one of his tourneys, but a couple of people (including one in the thread) told me that he’s very unreliable. A few of us got to the venue only to find it closed and barred up. There was a phone number, which I called, but nobody answered.
Supposedly, he’s having a SSFIV tourney next Saturday with a $500 pot bonus. Hopefully he shows up, unlike today.

Yeah i think you dug yourself a huge hole with that one. No showing an event is a big blunder even if there might have been a good excuse. It’s a damn shame.
Not showing up, then promising a huge pot bonus for the next tourney is a yellow flag. That Facebook conversation just makes it all the worse.
illumination, if you really plan on running this tournament and don’t intend on scamming anyone, I think you need to give your community more reason to trust you.

Tell you what. Since I only got paid 50% of the pot for winning tekken 6 last time (aka 50 dollars out of 100 when there were 10 people who were playing at 10 dollars each, when i believe only 80 dollars was paid out in total…), let me enter the ssf4 tournament this coming saturday for free, and I’ll be there for sure. I’ll still chip in the 5 dollars for the venue fee. Then I’ll be there for sure and be able to vouch for what goes down. I have absolutely no chance of winning because I suck ass at SF4 but at least it’ll get be down there that saturday to scope out the venue and I’ll vouch for you if things go like how they are supposed to.
I feel like I at least deserve that when the last tournament where it was posted that it was guaranteed 150 for first didn’t mention that it was ONLY for SF4, but I failed to mention anything at the time because I didn’t start playing video games for money, but it coves my expenses at least for entry and travel and some food. But anyway.

Now syxx… I asked you over 4 times is there any thing we can do or make the nxt tournanment better any complaints or concerns… you said no…and gave advice how to make it better…you could pm your thought or on the day of say something…when the bracket maker was open on the screen…
Its amazing all the people who were there Ive done right by them ask them a million times how we can make better tournanments…

Well I didn’t really have an issue with not getting the full payout, like I said I don’t really play for the money, but it’s nice to get my money back for entering and driving to the southside from where I live is a bit of a trip. I’m pretty good about stuff like that because I know how tough it can be starting out, and I never even mentioned how much I got to anyone because honestly it wasn’t a huge deal at the time. But if you gave me free entry this weekend in my mind it would make up for it. I’m just looking for a clear yes or no on this one.
Everything was fine at the tournament that you ran so there wasn’t any real issue until the 2nd one. I’m sure people can understand if you had an emergency and had to leave but whoever was left in charge didn’t know what to do after you left obviously, because the people who did show up couldn’t even get into the front door. And it’s not like there was any confusion about it because I know Aki (aka Zangief4Life) was at the first tournament and knew what building it was.
And like I said, since I have 2-3 hour to travel to get down there, I’m sure glad that I didn’t go last weekend for nothing. I know even though some of the people who did show up live much closer than I do, it’s still a hassle to make time for the event, pay for gas to get there, etc, etc, and then have nothing to show for it.
To be honest, there were 2 reason why I ended up not coming last weekend. One, because the tournament was never posted on the tekken web site, and two, because I was afraid that people who came for tekken last time would be unwilling to drop another 10 bucks just to give to me again. No one who entered T6 were serious tournament players and I just couldn’t even see 10 people showing up again for Tekken just to give me their money again. No one else I talked to seemed interested in going when they could just stay at home and play but that’s just how the Tekken scene in chicago is.
So anyway let me know, if I could get free entry into the tournament for SSF4 this coming weekend (May 1) and everything goes smothly then I’ll do my best to get your name off of the blacklist here because I think the tournaments you are running have a lot of potential but I don’t want to waste my time giving up a saturday and driving all the way down to south side chicago for nothing, especially when there are so many other offers on the table of things I could be doing on a Saturday, but it’s important for me to see other tournament operators in my area get off the ground.
Bisonopolis is from New York. He wasn’t at your Chicago tournament. It sounds to me like you were reaching. Yes, shit happens, believe me, I know shit happens. In the future, if people still come to your events, use Tonamento if you have an internet connection on your laptop. If not, just use Tio. This way you can track all of the money coming in. NEVER make two different sheets for money. Sheets get lost, and no one’s memory is THAT good.
Also, don’t go blaming other people for your mistakes. Bracket runners SHOULD NOT BE HANDLING MONEY. If it’s YOUR EVENT, YOU HANDLE ALL MONEY. Simple as that.
Oh yeah and AuhsojSivart will tell you I’ve been on the bum end of a deal, at the end of last year I went to some Tekken tournament in Indiana. This guy was running a tournament for the first time, and I think the turnout was much less than what he expected. I think at the most 15 people showed up to play. He wasn’t even there when we got there after I drove all the way to NW Indiana. I met up with Josh there and eventually we got ahold of the guy who was going to run the tournament. He was running late but we did what we could to get ourselves as well as our systems and TVs set up over there.
When all was said and done, I ended up winning. The tournament had a guaranteed payout of like 150 or 200, but since hardly anyone showed, as a sign of good faith he put like 50 bucks into the pot out of his own pocket. On top of that he spent a few hundred bucks to rent out the venue for a few hours to run the actual tournament. So knowing that what he ended up having to pay out of pocket, I accepted a much lower payout for the tournament, which was like 60-80 bucks I believe. Pretty bad deal but at the same time I never mentioned this to anyone outside of a couple people. I think we heard from the guy running the tournament like 1 time after that but then he disappeared after that. It’s a damn shame when people are having trouble getting off the ground, but being a tournament orginizer myself, I know what it’s like to go through the trouble of setting up an event and running it perfectly, but having less than a great turnout. And I know what it’s like paying money out of my own pocket just to get people to show up, as the last big event I ran got around 40-50 people at the cost of me putting up around 300 dollars out of my own pocket into pot bonuses. It’s hard sometimes and I think that you can hit a snag but you just gotta pull through and hope for the best sometimes.
Lets not turn this into a place to argue guys. He wasn’t added to the list and I imagine that well see how this next event he has coming up is run.

that was my first sf4 tourney we keep two records… one at the door and one with the computer bracket maker… so that wont happen…the computer is so every one can see…I didnt blame anybody…I said I take blame… but thanks for the advice…
