Touhou Hisouten ~Scarlet Weather Rhapsody~ (sequel to Immaterial and Missing Power?)

I played it for the first time in several months (out of boredom), and it made me realize why I stopped playing it in the first place.

I’m certain why people don’t like it over IaMP. What is it that IaMP has that SWR doesn’t (or vise versa). Is it the weather thing that no one likes or something?

actual gameplay

People still regularly play IaMP. I don’t think anyone really plays SWR much anymore, at least not anyone who wants to bother trying to take SWR seriously.

But you might as well stop lumping IaMP and SWR together, the two games aren’t really comparable with each other.

People stopped playing SWR for the game’s own reasons. And people still play IaMP for that game’s own reasons.

Sure wish I knew those reasons. Maybe it would make more sense =/

swr is a mashy fanservice game for casuals (as admitted by tasofro on their blog), iamp actually has consistent and deep gameplay

specific reasons were highlighted in this thread months ago

But still no one wants to play with Bellreisa in either game.

iamp: has meiling
swr: no meiling

won’t someone please think of the gate guards!

I thought more people were butthurt about Cirno not being in than Hong.

But Zazz, yeah it’s kind of strange to have a full sprite set and not reuse it right? Especially when they obviously reused much of the rest of the cast. They must really not want her in (or simply couldn’t think of a new weather type?! HAH!).

@Sprt: You silly. If no one wanted to play him then he wouldn’t play as much as he does. Which is a lot.

Okay…

SWR is a very different game from IaMP. The english community discovered this quite quickly and decided they liked IaMP better about~ a little under a month in. As you just witnessed, some of them are passionate about this.

There are people that play SWR in mizuumi.net last I checked (this was a good while ago), you’re probably best going on IRC and hitting them up if you want matches.

Just about everyone that currently plays SWR competitively is in japan, which is unfortunate as it is a damn good game. Your only other option for Touhou fighting is IaMP and personally I found that game to be clunky and unfun.

Though I’m very rusty, I’m willing to boot it up sometime. PM me if you wanna exchange AIM names or something.

Thnx man. I just don’t understand how someone could think SWR has no depth? :xeye:

I don’t think it’s that SWR lacks depth, it’s that supposedly (Note: I am only saying supposedly because I do not have firsthand experience with it in competitive play) IaMP offers more. shrug They’re both just very different kinds of games. It’s like comparing MvC1 to Super Turbo. It’s their preference and their choice, what can you do?

I think SWR’s got more than enough depth to be enjoyable. It’s an awesome game; and if you look at the tournament results on swr.mizuumi.net, they’re telling about the game’s balance so far. It’s just a crying shame that there isn’t any interest in it competitively over here.

Stop ruining my jokes, faggot.

Your jokes suck, faggot.

Disappear more, faggot.

Awesome, its because of you that I’m not going to quit this game lol. And that website of course. Thnx

Please.

You had “IaMP: Sakuya, Alice” in your sig for months and never played the game once with anyone on IRC. I even asked you personally over AIM at least three times and you made some excuse each time. Now I see you got SWR in its place, except you probably haven’t played anyone in that game either. Saying shit like “I’m not going to quit this game” is laughable; you were never a real player to begin with.

If you’re going to bump a months-old thread for a game that the serious competition has long since given up on, at least make some effort to find the actual scene instead of pretending like you play this shit. You are looking in the wrong place if you wanted to find people here who play. Even Carbunkle, who’s a self-admitted IRC hater, has told you to go there to get some games. This game was never taken seriously on SRK for a minute. CyberAkuma, who was one of the games biggest proponents, gave up on it and moved on. As soon as people heard about weather that could shut down your melee attacks and make you stop blocking, it was done.

By the way: the people who are placing in the Japanese SWR tournaments are largely IaMP players, and there are still monthly IaMP tournaments compared to SWR, which pretty much has none. That alone should tell you that Japan doesn’t even take the game seriously enough to run it over IaMP, which is over four years old at this point. As stated earlier, Tasofro has posted on their blog that the game was meant to be a casual game, not to be taken seriously or competitively. If you’re wondering why people say SWR has no depth, what more do you need than the developer’s word?

K.O.

Perfect

First off I enjoy playing SWR against the peeps around here. Yes, none of us are hardcore into SWR or IaMP, but we still enjoy playing SWR more then IaMP. Not to say we don’t enjoy playing IaMP cause we do. The point is we play it cause we like it, and we’re not going to begin to try and play it competitively against other people in the nation such as yourself. The main reason is because none of us want to deal with IRC. Half of my friends don’t even know what the fuck IRC is. I never liked dealing with it and I was sick of asking questions of myself and of others on how to work it. So I realized that my desire to play the game competitively wasn’t enough to get me over the small task of caring about getting IRC to work for me. Most of all, like I said before, we play it for fun. I don’t give a damn if Japan doesn’t play it anymore or if they care.

Bullshit
