my GOD, the B-# qualifiers are gonna be RIDICULOUS to qualify for, all those well known arcades leading up into the final qualifier at the main arcades like Game Versus and Game Newton

shit is serious this year, we’re probably gonna see some dream teams cuz of this

Will the PinoAB7/Thanatos/Messatsu trio be formed again? If so that’s the group i’m rooting for.

Added some more links and pictures for the completed results on the schedule. Buriki One was kind enough to post up the match of the recent D-1 qualifier.

Check out the names of 4 teams there… one of them was ??? (Ino Japan) :wonder:

Urakeeeeen!!!

Arrrggghhh!!!

Anybody knows why this is their last year of 3s for SBO?

This year is a make or break year for Tougeki for what they want to do in the future from what I can tell. There are too many popular games to limit the number of games at SBO this year. You have three Street Fighter games, ST, 3S, SFIV/SSFIV, two KOF, VF, Tekken, BB, GGAC, and then a handful of others that SBO is featuring. Arcadia, in order to fit in every game, made an ‘A tier’ section of games for the big games like SFIV and VF5R, and then a ‘B tier’ of games for stuff like ST, 3S, and GGAC. The ‘A tier’ games have more teams and are on the main stage, the ‘B tier’ games have less teams, and are supposedly going to be on a separate festival stage. There is also a ‘C tier’ of games, so far I think it’s just for KOFXIII, and that might just be like an exhibition or a top four or something small. But there is a lot of stuff going on this year for SBO.

Basically if this year’s event is too chaotic or disorganized, it will mean that SBO will scale back, and only feature the ‘big’ games like SFIV, VF5R, BB, and so on in the future like they’ve done in the past. That means that older games, like ST and 3S, would unfortunately be done in any official capacity at SBO. If the event is a major success however, then Arcadia might expand the event, and make ‘B tier’ games featured just as much as ‘A tier’ games or possibly keep a ‘B tier’ but with more games. There are also discussions that Arcadia wants to make SBO a trade show like E3 but for arcade fighting games. They want to make SBO open to a lot of people to test out games and even have companies announce or display new games. If that is the case then I would expect 3S to be at SBO for years to come because it will mean SBO would become a really big and important event.

you have any evidence of all this? or is it just speculation?

i highly doubt this will be the last year for 3s regardless, its just too great of a game over in japan to be let down, besides they did bring back ST and brought in a game that not many ppl know about…so it seems they wont just drop it like any other game…anyways the Tougeki staff runs SBO sooo well its hard to imagine it being “disorganized” but hey lets just look forward to SBO of this year and worry about the others when they come

Ghilbi you know the full team for Inoue Japan? (MOV, Kuroda, ???)

I don’t think any real reputable source has stated this would be the last year for 3s definitively. It’s kind of hard to speculate about the lineup for next year. 3s is the only game to be in the lineup every year of SBO though

I also heard Mimora might be the 3rd for Inoue Japan. Talk about a fun team to watch.

No idea. I just saw the team name there and wanted to bring attention to it. I’d say there’s a good chance you might hear about them again after this weekend’s shot for the B-2 spot.

i think until they qualify we’ll be hearing about them every week lol Mimora being on the team would be a good choice, they need a good makoto player to replace Ino on that team

bah we shouldnt worry about 3s at SBO anyways it will ALWAYS be there, even if its NOT:lovin:

I read this somewhere on Youtube before. I heard third strike was the SBO host’s favorite game or something. This should be reason enough not to bring it down. hope it stays alive. :china:

Matsuda who owns Game Newton is 1 of the 3 main directors on the Tougeki board and he loves 3rd Strike. He said as long as he is on the board, there will always be 3rd Strike at Tougeki.

However, I think what VirtuaFighterFour speculates is probably what is going on right now. Arcadia magazine hasn’t been doing well and that is a big reason why the DVD production in 2009 did not include all the games as it used to as well as too much piracy on youtube, it almost seems there is no reason to produce the full DVDs.

This year is probably the make or break year for Tougeki. I was actually surprised they announced Tougeki for 2010 as I thought 2009 was probably going to be the last one, not just for 3rd Strike but the whole event itself.

Mester (YU) / Higa (IB) / Raoh (CH) defeat Magu (RY) / Feri Kami (DU) / Gate Keeper (HU)

Raoh and Higa pick up Mester instead of Nitto this time, and according the report: Mester takes up being the anchor of the team and goes undefeated… or doesn’t even get to play? Not sure how to translate that. Besides Raoh and Magu’s team, the other team was " ??? " , which is the team name that Sei (elena) and Thanatos like to use.

2 strong teams so far, shit is gonna get serious

14 spots to GO!!!

Wow, hype!

Lots of strong teams appearing already.

Great job Ghibli!

The first post is already updated with this:
http://www.a-cho.com/ac/201001_06/3rd20100508.html

Until now we just got results from preliminaries, not actual qualifiers. But it’s a matter of hours before knowing the first 2 teams that won blue cards (Chiba + Osaka)…

Kokujin (DU) / Haitani (MA) / Nuki (CH) This needs to happen.

KO Ochibi Tokido qualified as the first team!
