Tougeki 2007 Super Battle Opera Games Lineup Announced

So shitty that he knocked you out of the tournament? I’m not trying to bash anyone, but it’s like you’re saying Tokido shouldn’t get any credit for getting as far as he did with CE Bison.

He’s just jealous that tokido did more with 2 weeks training with CE bison, than DSP did in 2 months.

i dont think AE gets much anything in Europe cause Europe + Arcades = nonexistent. But im sure if they know about the changes it’s close enough.

And yeah, Japanese players are good at SC3, but yeah, they’re not like, one step above everyone else like they are with Guilty Gear and such. But i think its the whole AE part of it. Japan is really the only place that plays AE a lot, and even so, its still not THAT popular here. Only a few arcades have it, and nobody is usually playing it (cept for when there’s tourneys). If its like that in Japan, then i can only imagine how dead it’d be in the states or anywhere else in the world where arcades are dying/dead.

Thank you for a huge, off-topic post that basically says I’m a scrub and you rock on arcade. AKA nobody cares. This isn’t a console vs. arcade debate.

Nobody was even talking about ST at EVO 2k5, we’re talking about how shitty a game AE is compared to ST. If you want to bash me like you usually do, please do it in another thread.

If you want to comment on SBO’s choice of AE over ST and if the USA will get qualifying spots, please feel free to do so.

Now, feel free to continue to post on-topic…NOW!

He proved some valid points you just discredit it because you dont like it.

This food talk makes me want to go to a deli right now.

You can’t dismiss the console vs. arcade argument - both completely different atmospheres and situations. I agree with DreamTR about all that stuff; while some people may just shut that argument down completely people will always feel different in both environments…wether it might be the ambience that effects you or the hardware that you use. Plus the fact that you’re playing for free at home, and that will change the way you think about playing.

Just my view on that…

As for SC3:AE in Europe, there may be 0 cabinets in France, there are several in the UK, no-one really plays it though.

HeartNana, thanks for the clarification on that. If that’s the case, (talking abotu your skill level in SC vs the Japanese) why don’t you go enter the last chance qualifier then? Or better yet, why don’t you enter a actual qualifier? Do it for USA  Actually IIRC, outside of Korea winning T5 no foreigner has won a sbo tourney yet. of course there have been close calls like Taiwan and some other places I’m forgetting, the closest that the USA has gotten to winning any SBO event was Spencer “Fetz” performance in SC at SBO1…

uhh, dsp, dreamtr does make some valid points, the reason why you dont hear anyone bitching about that stuff anymore - we’re all forced to deal with it, and arcades arent coming back. iirc i just think you chose to dismiss it beacuse of your performance in ST/AE on console in the past couple of years or so. Why don’t you just practice up if there is a USA qualifier and go to Japan? WHo cares that it’s AE and not ST. I’m sure after arriving there you can find the ST comp that you so desperately want, even organize a tourney, shouldnt be too difficult.

i predict that a lot more foreigners are going to attend sbo this year because its in summer instead of spring when everyone is in fucking school. however i wonder how this will affect evo if it does at all though.

Nobody is saying the arcade vs. console argument isn’t valid. It’s just not valid in this thread. I would be nuts to say that the PS1 version of ST isn’t different from real, arcade ST…it is drastically different. But that’s not even the object of discussion here. Jason just wanted to stick his nose in so he could act like he knew something that we all didn’t. If he wants to make an arcade vs. console argument and talk about how I only win on console for the 10000th time, he can do it in a thread that’s actually discussing that point.

The one useful part of Jason’s post was the differences between arcade and console AE…he put some specifics on what I had already said about there being a difference. Whether or not the USA gets SBO spots for AE, most of us will be at a distinct disadvantage considering we will be forced to play on console, not arcade, and may face these differences in competitive SBO play.

I have been thinking about this seriously over the past few days. The truth of the matter is that I can probably secure some spots for the EC for AE if I really worked on talking to the right people…YES I said I can get EC AE spots at SBO and I’m not bullshitting. The question is, do I want to, because that will either mean asking Andy to fly two more people to Japan for a game that most US players don’t really care for (and that the East Coast honestly is sub-par at) OR asking him to have a qualifier where you don’t win free tickets to Japan, but players have to fly themselves. And in that case, I’m sorry, but unless someone who qualifies has already qualified for something else and has a free ticket (like Justin) then I’m pretty confident nobody is going to fly to Japan just to play AE. Including myself.

I have some thinking to do…I will return to SRK after next week’s TGA event is over.

Sabin- im gonna enter a qualifier. Prolly not gonna win it, so it doesnt matter much anyways, but im gonna give it a chance at least. =P

When and where? KOF 98’ Qualifiers.

Probably none in the US, if you want to try out, go enter one of them Last Chance Qualifiers over there in Japan around the time of the tourney.

We don’t even know when JAPAN’S quals are yet, stop being so uppity for the US quals.

And this isn’t just you, but everybody.

The only Japaense invitation-only ST tourney I’ve ever heard of was X-MANIA Gaiden (the tourney featured on The Starting Over DVD). All their other tourneys are open to whomever.

I think nobody outside of Japan goes to Japan’s ST tourneys because it’s just too far away…

I would…but that’s just me…

No one goes to the Japan tournies because up until now they didn’t know when they were. =x Everyone was finding out about them like around the time the DVDs roll around and by then it’s too late.

Ok…how can someone like me go to SBO for HSF2? Does anyone know?

Well, first off, you play like a scrub so you wouldn’t make it past your first match, but you don’t have any options outside of flying to Japan.
I mean, have you even read ‘any’ of the other posts in this topic?

anybody know how many different countries attend SBO?

A plane…
