C-Royd vs Exodus: 3s Singles
before Playing Ecodus, i played some urien scrub i think. I dont remember. He sucked. I dont know how he qualified.
Whatever.
Exodus has definately improved since i last playedhim 2 years ago. Back then, he was garbage. He was an akuma scrub with no skill but doing air fireballs and hurricane kicks (and that really is all you need to win with akuma. Look at Stitch).
Exodus now uses Yun and Ken. And both those characters are damn good. With yun, his problem is that he has garbage genei jin combos but every now and then he does a really impressive hop, palm, hop, palm, hop, palm combo (he karas the palm to make it land easier).
Exodus’ Ken has all the basics (strong, fierce xx super), low forward xx super, fierce xx srk xx super, cr mp link into super) but lacks the advanced skill to take out a top player doe to his impatience and lack of focus. Exodus missed (strong -> fierce xx super) twice on me because he was nervous. His hands were shaking. At this point when you know you can’t execute well, you HAVE to put the fireball into that combo. There is no other solution than to make your combos easier to do.
My match against exodus was problematic. I was parrying low and punishing with low fierce xx sidekick but only fierce was coming out. I missed it twice so to compensate, i would do low roundhouse instead of the basic combo i usually do. Why? I wasnt executing so instead of repeatedly trying to get that combo, i would rather knock him down with a sweep and try to get more meter or hover above him for a high/low/throw game. Exodus ends up beatin my ryu but i’ve already got him figured out because he falls for all the regular parrybaits.
So i ended up parrying countless amount of his low forwards and supered him.
I wouldn’t say my match against Exodus was easy. I knew i’d win but it’s a matter of how much i would win by.
The key to beating Ken is to learn your shoto matchup. Remember that shotos love to mass that low forward no matter what range you’re in. And remember that Low forward kicks are be reversal supered. Not just forward kicks, but any kick that isnt a short can be supered. This includes standing roundhouse, standing forward, overhead kicks, and sweeps. If i could react fast enough to punish all the s.forward kicks that I block, i’d be a much better player. But when i realize that i can super after the kick, i’ve already blocked it and i know it’s too late so i simply just don’t do the super. It’s an oppurtunity missed but i’d rather not try it than do it late and have it blocked. Practice if yourself. Also, remember that Ken has a certain range limit. He can’t get in close enough to a character like Chun li without being at risk of getting hit by a low forward; her standing fierce range is further than ken’s standing roundhouse range. So you cant get Chun Li into your range without being in hers first. It’s this reason why Ken players love to jump in on Chun Li. And you already know what I think about Jumping in.
