C-Royd vs Exodus: 3s Singles

before Playing Ecodus, i played some urien scrub i think. I dont remember. He sucked. I dont know how he qualified.

Whatever.

Exodus has definately improved since i last playedhim 2 years ago. Back then, he was garbage. He was an akuma scrub with no skill but doing air fireballs and hurricane kicks (and that really is all you need to win with akuma. Look at Stitch).

Exodus now uses Yun and Ken. And both those characters are damn good. With yun, his problem is that he has garbage genei jin combos but every now and then he does a really impressive hop, palm, hop, palm, hop, palm combo (he karas the palm to make it land easier).

Exodus’ Ken has all the basics (strong, fierce xx super), low forward xx super, fierce xx srk xx super, cr mp link into super) but lacks the advanced skill to take out a top player doe to his impatience and lack of focus. Exodus missed (strong -> fierce xx super) twice on me because he was nervous. His hands were shaking. At this point when you know you can’t execute well, you HAVE to put the fireball into that combo. There is no other solution than to make your combos easier to do.

My match against exodus was problematic. I was parrying low and punishing with low fierce xx sidekick but only fierce was coming out. I missed it twice so to compensate, i would do low roundhouse instead of the basic combo i usually do. Why? I wasnt executing so instead of repeatedly trying to get that combo, i would rather knock him down with a sweep and try to get more meter or hover above him for a high/low/throw game. Exodus ends up beatin my ryu but i’ve already got him figured out because he falls for all the regular parrybaits.
So i ended up parrying countless amount of his low forwards and supered him.

I wouldn’t say my match against Exodus was easy. I knew i’d win but it’s a matter of how much i would win by.

The key to beating Ken is to learn your shoto matchup. Remember that shotos love to mass that low forward no matter what range you’re in. And remember that Low forward kicks are be reversal supered. Not just forward kicks, but any kick that isnt a short can be supered. This includes standing roundhouse, standing forward, overhead kicks, and sweeps. If i could react fast enough to punish all the s.forward kicks that I block, i’d be a much better player. But when i realize that i can super after the kick, i’ve already blocked it and i know it’s too late so i simply just don’t do the super. It’s an oppurtunity missed but i’d rather not try it than do it late and have it blocked. Practice if yourself. Also, remember that Ken has a certain range limit. He can’t get in close enough to a character like Chun li without being at risk of getting hit by a low forward; her standing fierce range is further than ken’s standing roundhouse range. So you cant get Chun Li into your range without being in hers first. It’s this reason why Ken players love to jump in on Chun Li. And you already know what I think about Jumping in.

Good luck MTL at ECCX

yeah, but i wasnt there for 3rd strike though.
i usually went on friday nights for the Virtua Fighter: Final Tuned casual gathering.
but i used to watch people play, i played myself when nobody was around though.

So what? You enjoy owning up the computer? Play vs people, its alot more fun.

naw man that isnt the point.
i was going to metro BEFORE i was interested in 3s
i was only interested in trying it out at that point.
and i did so when no one else was playing.

wait a minute if you’re one of those hardcore Final Tuned guys, then you probably know who I am. I’m the tall chinese guy that talks a lot of shit when playing 3s.

and i play final tuned with you guys like maybe once a night and then i get my ass kicked and never touch the machine again for the rest of the night.

haha oh man!
yeah i remember you!
im the tall black dude… the only black dude on that machine.

man, you should play more often!
were always trying to get new people into it since the scene is so small…

so how many of the people that go to metro post here?
cause off the top i remember frequently seeing a white guy, i think two more asian guys and a female that was really impressive (made me want to learn makoto :D)

the white guy moved to the states. That’s Will.

yeah the black dude on the machine. Train 3s with me and I can make you a 3s God.

make me a 3S god so i can own up the hugo guy.

make me a 3s god since I AM carrying your child

3s god huh? how can i turn that down!
sign me up! :karate:

the rest of ya’ll wanting to be gods,

Edited it for you.

Oh yeah, Stephen, sorry about not getting back to you for a while about your stick. I’ve been busy as fuck with school, so I didn’t have time to put the joystick together. Anyways, it’s done now. I just need to find a way to get it sent back to TO. But chances are that it’ll be there by next weekend, or at LATEST the weekend after.

C-Royd vs some scrub named Justin Wong: 3s Singles, quarter finals

I wouldn’t have had to play this guy if Stephen could beat him. Jeeze, DarkDragon, why didn’t you just beat him?

Anyway, I already know that Justin was going to beat me before I even played him. It was a matter of how much I was going to lose by. It was a close game though:

Justin - 2
C-Royd - 0

And the rounds were close
Justin - 4
C-Royd - 1 maybe?

Match 1. Round 1. I parried him all over the place. When i was zoning him, i’d do the typical cr/s roundhouse whenever i saw him do a fierce punch. Sometimes he blocked it, sometimes it hit him. But at max range, chun li cant hit you back if she blocks the rondhouse so it was alll good. When i was in close on his Chun, I parried a lot of his attacks and followed up with cr mk xx srk. The srk didnt come out once so I just did cr.Roundhouse when i parried. I won the first round. 2nd round, he had meter. Bye Bye cr Roundhouse.

It was at this point that the game got really frustrating. Justin is so good at zoning. He knows his range so well that he won’t stick out moves unless he knows he can hit you.

The problem with Ken vs Chun is that it’s not possible for Ken to get Chun Li in his range without him being in hers first. So you really have to be patient and you need to be able to hit confirm your low MK really well to beat Justin…or you can use yun.

Anyway, I can hit confirm my low MK pretty damn good. Too bad I was never able to hit him with it. My game plan, when fighting a good Chun Li, is to parry the low mk. There are typical patterns, that even justin uses. Like cr lp, cr mk. Every Chun Li uses this string. I’ve seen it everywhere. So I dashed in (i’m lucky he didnt low MK my dash!), did cr lk lk, it didnt hit so i didnt super. AT this point, i was too far away for the cr lp. And justin knew that too. So he skipped it and just did low MK. I parried it! Cuz i’m C fucking Royd!

okay here comes the super

Justin didn’t do the super. Now wtf do i do? I could punished him. Now I’m back to square one.

At least I’ve got her in my range now. I’m still pretty close to her. So i tried to cr MP her but it got blocked. But C-Royd has no fear. C-Royd knows that Justin’s gonna cr MK again at this point.

parry. Here comes the super!!!

No super. Man fuck you Justin Wong. his Chun Li started to walk back to gain the upper hand but I walked with her so that I could keep her in my range (ken’s forward walking speed is faster than chun li’s back-walking speed). So i’m walking forward and walking forward, and I tap down. Justin did low MK

parry. Fuck you Justin wong
Ken: Low MK …
Chun: SUPER!

he fucking did the super this time. I looked right at Justin and said
C-Royd: "Man, I fucking hate you"
Justin: “What did i do?” (with a smile on his face)

Ken can’t punish Chun Li with a cr Forward when he’s that close after a parry. Now, if I was closer, i would have done a cr mp and i’d hit Chun Li regardless of whether Chun Li did the super or not. And then I’d link a super into it.

Another note about Justin Wong, he doesn’t fucking miss his supers. If he gets the low MK, he’ll do the super. He never missed it once.

So my Ken is dead after 2 rounds of headache.

Let’s switch to Chun. Ken’s not doing so well.

He kicked my ass. There is no 'splaining how the match went. He landed super every time he hit the low MK, and I probably would have also. Too bad I didnt even land a low MK. I didnt super once.

Honestly, I was better off using Yun or Ryu. I just got owned using chun and ken. At least if I parried low forwards with Ryu, I can cr Fierce x sidekick and he’d stil get hit whether he supered or not. But Ryu vs Chun Li always Favours Chun Li.

The key for a ken player to fight a good chun player, or any other player in general,is to walk, and not dash. Dashing only gets you in trouble. When you’re dashing, you can’t block, attack, jump, parry, throw, or tech. Then wtf is dashing for? So Don’t dash so much. A Walking Ken is always better than a Dashing ken. I can walk into your low forward and if you super, I get it. If you dash into my low forward, I can uppercut into super for an even bigger combo. If i know you’re going to dash, I can throw ex fireballs or standing roundhouses to hit you. Just wait shit out by walking. It’ll slowly corner the guy or even make the guy coem to you. Either situation is a good one.

Justin is the best player i’ve seen in a while. I couldn’t get him to come near me. I always had to chase him. if i could just get the upper hand and then run away the rest of the round, and do that every round, i’d probably win. For those of you that don’t believe he’s a great player, take it from me. This kid has fucking talent.

So C-Royd’s in the losers bracket now. When Flash G said “Justin sends C-Royd to the losers bracket” in 3s, some people were shocked. And I Said to them “YOU THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO WIN!?”

C-Royd vs Eddie Lee next.
