This post is for anyone out there who knows how to do Hugo’s standing 720 to please tell me how to do it. I’m a big Hugo enthusiast I mean I’ve always been on the grapple seen since the world warrior days my favorite character is and probaly always will be Zangief but back to the matter at hand. Even if you dont know don’t know how to pull off a standing 720 I would appreciate any strategy you use to get in a gigas breaker I will list all the useful and effective one’s I’ve learned and use.
Jumping in on an opponent
Dashing in on an opponent
Uni overhead (usually works on noobs)
Parrying opponents hit or move then quickly doing a 720 (ex: Uriens chariot tackle)
Blocking opponents move then quickly doing a 720 before they recover (ex: Ryu’s tatsumaki)
If you or both players are in the air and you air parry their move wait for both players or just you to hit the floor then pull off a gigas breaker
If you do a jump in hit and opponent parrys but fails to retaliate quickly pull a gigas breaker out
8.Deliberately missing a move just to confuse and get close to opponent then quickly doing gigas breaker (ex: monster lariat)
If opponent blocks move and fails to retaliate in time quickly pull a 720 (ex: monster lariat)
I also have a few confusing tricks I like to use.
At the beginng or during a match I like to do a shootdown back breaker that will get me close yet far to an opponent. The opponent gets confused on what to do and usually tries getting close to retaliate which lets you recover and puts them in striking distance for a gigas breaker.
I also like do a small set up that will usually work half the time. While in or near the corner i like to an ultra throw on an opponent and instead of doing a back breaker I smack them with mp and dash up to them and pull off a gigas breaker. This also works with palm bomber, if you succesfully hit an opponent with a palm bomber you can dash up and pull a gigas breaker out. This usually works with noobs and once in a while with experts.
If you have any questions about my strategies just write me and I’ll answer your questions.
Well looks like you have listed almost every 720 strategy out there. Another one I find very useful is,
after you knock your opponent down, whiff a crouching lk or a jab clap right before they recover and then start doing the 720 motion during your attack animation. Then you can grab him once he wakes up. It’s a very effective strategy, but don’t over do it.
So what your saying is a full 360 followed by a 180 really fast i dont know man by the time the first 360 is acomplished without pressing any buttons he usually always jumps up. I read one of your replys once that you were able to get a standing 720 on your second try but you used a diffrent method. The method you used involved doing a 360 skipping forward on the second spin and going straight to df. Im sorry man but when you say fast how fast do you mean because hugo always jumps on my first 360 if i dont press a button. I understand the super jump cancelling but im just not fast enough and im pretty sure the backwards half circle to forward 2x doesnt work.
I’ve never used the technique originally described in that standing Gigas thread. I just spin it around in the motion I described. If you’re jumping, you simply have to do it faster. If you’re not jumping, but having other problems, you’re probably not doing it smoothly enough and hitting all the points.
I never really use that method to get in a gigas too risky i just wait for the opponent to mess up but mostly i just parry their hits then spin the stick really fast.
there is another trick I know of - you need to have your opponent in the corner, throw them against the wall, hi them with a jab that chains into a shockwave (that misses) chain the shockwave into the gigas that will hit them when they land. I believe it’s unreversable.
Crazy you sure it works cause when i try buffering it with a light palm bomber he just does another jab and he cant cancel a light hit into any other version.
This question is for anybody willing to answer. I was testing a theory on gigas and im not sure if it works or not because it seems like it does. I was practicing in DC to see if Hugo can pull a gigas while someone threw out a super i used remy with SAIII since it doesnt hit and while remy was in the frozen motion of his super i pulled my motion but my super never came out my question is whether this works or not.
You’re not allowed to enter any new inputs during the super freeze. However, if you rotate once before the super freeze (like off a parry or in block stun or something), it stays in the buffer and you can rotate again after the freeze to get a Gigas.
