no you’re not nagging at all friend because that’s a pretty reasonable request (should have put spoiler tags on the videos on day oneXD). i’ve been meaning to do this for sometime now but i’ve been procrastinating a lot of things like my magneto reset video etc. i’ll get to it as soon as possible though so keep on the look out!
So apparently if you hit L and back during Iron Man’s ground dash you can stop and block earlier than you would normally be able too (before frame 11). Was anyone aware of this? I don’t think its enough to get around his shit ground dash but it at least lets you get positioning and block faster.
I really hope this is the start of finding ways to cancel Iron Man’s ground dash earlier but it doesn’t seem like it lets you do a c.M too much earlier.
Doing it this way DEFINITELY is faster then doing a wavedash, I think there might be something here.
You guys should go in the lab and try it yourself, if you use the method I described you can cancel his dash into a block on what seems like frame 2 or 3, its really early and much faster than a normal plink or wave dash. If we could find a way to do a normal as soon as he could block we might be on to something. The reason Iron Man having a non-shit ground dash would be significant is that he has two fantastic low pokes, c.L and c.M, both of which he can convert into his bnb from a considerable distance.
I’d like it if you guys could at least test this in the lab and let me know what you think.
I really think people should give this dash, back + L thing a shot. It truly does let you cancel your dash much earlier in the animation, and I swear I was able to get a wavedash going. The problem is that its hard to buffer dash, back + L and then dash again without getting other inputs. I’d like to know if you guys think there is anything here. I may just be excited over nothing. But I really think something might be there.
I’d really like Duck Strong or Danke to try and it and see if anything is there, but I don’t think either of them reads these forums anymore. If this actually isn’t that useful please let me know, I just really want to get a second opinion on this. The thought of Iron Man having a real ground dash/wave dash is like Christmas and my Birthday wrapped into one.
I was looking at it more and I think I see what you were talking about. I’ll try to clean it up early next week and make a video if no one else has.
On another note, is there a comprehensive guide of the combos you should do in each situation? I know KK, but I am thinking air to air, SJ, throw, etc. Something like the Frank West video I put out not too long ago. I’d be glad to make one if we as a group can coordinate what should be in there.
I’m actually about to do this right now since i have quite a few setups in mind. I’ll try to keep it short though since it’s only just a concept at the moment
Thanks for the video Magnus! However actually cancelling your dash straight into a s.L is not why this tech is good, its because you cancel into a crouching block on the very early frames of Iron Man’s ground dash, effectively allowing you to circumvent the “no cancelling until frame 11” rule. If you can do this fast enough, you can give Iron Man a real wave dash, or at least I think you can.
I’m pretty sure using the L + back method allows Iron Man to cancel his dash much earlier than normal. Whether or not it will be useful remains to be seen. Something I want to test when I get the time is doing ADD j.H, dash with back + L trick to cancel into c.M early to try and make that hit confirm more reliable. Or something like Unfly H dash + L back, c.M. We’ll see.
In the meantime try it training mode yourself and see if it seems like he’s cancelling his dash faster or if I’m just nuts.
