I thought this was a really interested episode, Tom talks about some really interesting character specific tidbits and a ton of other MK9 related topics.

Cool I’ll check it tomorrow. Gotta get some rest (6:30 in the morning and still haven’t gone to sleep yet, holy shit)
Man, there was a guy on there that SERIOUSLY bitched about MK9 being too violent. He was so concerned with the violence moving the government to ban it and that the violence was so over the top, that it eclipsed the gameplay. I find that to be outrageous to assume that the more violent the game, the poorer the gameplay. They’re not even on the same binary. That guy was an idiot and was really just overreacting to way too many hypotheticals.
This was definitely worthwhile to listen to. Take the advice of the OP and skip to 26 minute mark.
Hey now, you guys wouldn’t like to hear my sexy voice? lol
nikka you sound like a fuking giant lol
Really solid interview and MK9 discussion until that annoying guy started whining about MK’s violence and politics. I’m sorry, but when you take something like MK to play ultra-partisan, foaming in the mouth to slam a political party/movement on subjects not even closely related, you really need to reevaluate your position in life. It’s hard to take a guy like that seriously, especially when he derails a pretty solid MK discussion to play Captain Blowhard.
Either way, props to the interviewers and Tom Brady for the hour or so long solid talk.
Good podcast, but it really could have been split into a few smaller ones due to how drastic the topic changes were.
I have hope for this game (and enjoy it for casuals), but without good netcode it’s gonna be a flash in the pan.
Very good listen! Glad you posted this, thank you.
The beginning of Tom’s part was very interesting, but then it sort of fell apart when it got into Fatalaties and stuff no one cares about. It would be cool if a more professional podcast coughwakeupsrkcough would bring Tom in for an indepth MK discussion, brushing on each character. I’d buy one.
I agree that the people whining about violence and gore in a MK game is pretty silly. I dunno, maybe I’m desensitized because I watch so many horror movies, but saying you’re emotionally scarred by seeing a fatality? Really? I think a lot of them are pretty funny and really over-the-top. I don’t see how you can “go too far” with violence in MK.
I agree that the gameplay is more important than gore, but gore is also a big part of MK. There is no reason not to have both. The people designing the fatalities and gore effects probably aren’t the same people designing the fighting engine and doing character design. MK needs both to be good.
Wow, I’ve always wondered how sub zero’s clone worked and now I know.
Good shit
Awesome interview. I could listen to Tom talk for hours.
The interview started to get derailed and painful to listen to once they changed subjects to the violence and tried to make the talk into a lame moral debate.
great in site into the characters, be interesting to see how things unfold. Sub seemed a little limited to me, but I haven’t played around with him a lot yet.
And jesus, that retard complaining about the violence /facepalm, his points where just nonsense…
My favorite part about the podcast was the part when the co host said that Johnny Cages XRay was ridiculous because it had so much priority over other moves.
Pro Tip bro: You wont have a good day if you keep trying to beat out Counter Xrays
So after watching the “Bradycast” youtube vids, he is basically calling people out for being unhappy that the online is unbelievably broken? Telling folks that it’s their fault for expecting a working online product?
Don’t blame Netherrealm? Seriously? I dunno if you were watching Boon hyping it up, but he was selling KotH as a major selling point.
Seems like this guy is just afraid to go against the grain of the company he is a fanboy of to me.
I participate in my local scene, and there is almost zero interest in playing MK. Everyone here is SF centric. So unless I’m gonna drive a couple hours to a major city, I don’t deserve to play this against another human who would like to take this game seriously?
Every timeI try to open it I just get a white screen
If it weren’t for Tom, MK9 would be terrible, and it’s because he’s the exact opposite as you describe him in the quote above.
To be fair, the opinions Tom stated on the BradyCast MK9 online episode were pretty hard to swallow. SF4 and Blazblue are exceptions? It’s more of a matter of them setting the standard too high for others to be able to reach.
And honestly, if they’re making people pay ten bucks for the online then it damn well better be SF4 quality or better.
