I think those games are popular because of their accesibility. online gaming in shooters and rpgs is great mainly becasue of the technology they utilize, and the speed with which information is transfered, no lag is great.
you never have to leave your chair to win money. same philosophy applys to gambling, mainly poker.
once we get decent info transfer speeds, i bet everyone will play fighting games. imo, there is no truer way to win money from somebody…“I’ll fight ya for it!”

For a while it seemed like we might pull it together and be able to compete with Japan, but in the past 2 years they’ve regained and increased their dominance. The top 15 (at LEAST 10) in cvs2 are all from Japan.
So fuck it. Might as well maintain some friendly (hopefully) rivalry to keep things interesting.

I’ve been sayin this stuff since i go to cali 5 years ago. Out there, they weren’t tryin to hear anything either, they just wanted to throw little tourneys and have little choi-valle rivalries. I always thought this thing could be more than it is. more than just a nice web-site or collection of websites.
and it’s always good to remember that japan has been setting up company sponsered events for years, like, since ST days. and that brought everyone together, and generated a large pool of gamers, and so naturally they are the best. they are years ahead in terms of gaming culture, so naturally they wip our asses.
We could do the same, and there are people who want to see it. all we need is dedicated people like shankarr and tri-force, TGA staff, Star-gate staff down in H-Town(or whereever), SRK staff, and that’s about it.
All we need is a team of people in NYC to hit the streets in manhattan and put up like 1000 flyers each…the whole city would know about it…i’d do it myself, i don’t care.
Then tri-force talks to that old chinese guy at CTF, and they clear out the place, and set up for a tourney. or we do it at TGA, whatever is easiest.
SRK staff posts all over the place about the tourney, and invites japs and cos-players and udon comics guys. somebody will prolly show.
TGA and and Star Gate reps would come to advertise their arcades and sell goodies or whatever,
MLG or MGL(whatever it’s called) would offer small contracts like the one that the Smash Bros. guy got(550$ biweekly) to the top 3 finishers or just the number 1s.
essentially it’s evo, but on the east. NYC is the greatest place to have small independent festivals like this one anyway.
essentially it would be low cost, but it would take high participation and dedication.

First and foremost, everybody in the Street Fighter community knows I single-handedly started the Top-Haters shit. Hell, everyone calls me the King of Hate even though I haven’t actually ran Top-Haters.com for over two years. Your attempts to ride my fire with your Team Hate and calling out Top haters during videos and shit is pathetic, and you need to stop. Second, if you’re going to make a “ranking battle” video, you might want to have a few people in it who know how to play the game. Having a 3s vid consisting entirely of jumping RH and sweeps isn’t exactly what I’d call “high-level play.”
Besides that, isn’t your champion in that vid the same guy who went to the “cockout” and missed Barnage years ago? And then subsequently lost to me at TGA the one time I went, and ran away complaining?
