Tokoyama2000's art thread

Oh yes, daddy like.

I humbly request Guy and R.Mika. :china:

Love the last couple of pieces, keep it up man!

Yeah, lets keep those girl on girl sketches coming!

Before you do your next drawing, scan the rough/layout and post it.
I see a lot of repeat mistakes that can be easily fixed in the rough stage.

god dammit man stop drawing ridiculously hot girls

i have competition :frowning: :frowning:

yo,
i want to know those repeated mistakes =[
and sure, i’ll post a rough layout of my next sketch

err, rough sketch after this one

shadaloo cannon spike cammy
my scanner’s farting again. scans are coming out real dirty

Your faces and heads are always off.
-The eyes/nose/ears/mouth don’t line up.
Your muscles, especially on that Bison, make no sense.
-(It looks a little too much like Turner. That Wolverine pic he did a ways back springs to mind)
-Mostly the torso and forearms of your men…You have a lot of dislocated elbows and shoulders.

And some of the poses seem really stiff.

PS: This is what I do when I scan something:

  • Image -> Adjustments -> Auto Levels and then use Select -> Color Range and crank it to about 125-130, then delete whatever it selects.(if it deletes all your line art, go back, invert the selection)
You can go in and clean it up more afterwards.

edited and posted a better scan of cannon spike cammy

here’s a work in progress of a cammy/chun sketch

god…i need to stop with the lesbian thing

don’t stop with the lesbos!

do you always go straight to contour lines? Try to set up your figures with basic 3d shapes first to avoid any misalignments and perspective problems. It’ll also help you think 3d.

Oh no you don’t.

I agree with the face and odd muscle thing taht someone brought up. You could go from Awesome to tent pitching sweetness if you work on those things a bit.

Its crazy how your rough sketches are so clean. You must have an amazing eye.

an amazing eye? no. i think i’m just too lazy to erase =[ actually, i usually start out with really light circles and ovals instead of stick figured lines so they don’t show as much.

yea…i really need to work on faces. sadly, all my girls look like men

Here is a draw over on your recent pic. Shoulders and forearms extend further out than the biceps.

Head alignment is kinda off. You’re leaning it foreward too much.

I also notice your hips are way too small compared to your upper torso.

Overall good stuff. Might want to work on composition later since tyhe chunners seemed like an after thought. Sh’es cut off way too much in that pic and that eradicates the focal point on the two.

good shit sfmc

now that i look at it, her right arm needs a lot of work. i was trying to make it look like cammy’s bodyheight is a bit short so her arms can barely reach the top portion of the bench. but her shoulder length lines up a little higher than the bench, so that could be a problem.

and the hips…gotta fix the hips. girls need large hips =]

and yeah, chunners was a last minute thing. the cut off lims, lost focal point, and lesbian action is sometheing i won’t do if it was an important project or something of that nature.

thanks dude. the redrawn sketch helps a lot. and one more thing,
the flowing line work is awesome! you gotta teach me how to start my work like that

…nothing longer and/or thicker eye-lashes can’t fix.

unfortunately I’m not technically trained so I have no other tips except that.

I gotta say though, I love your art, very dynamic and very inspiring.

Keep up the great stuff !!

Sweeeeet pencil skills, Tokoyama2000. Just from what I’ve peeped of your portfolio on the first page has got me inspired to start drawing again!!!

Well, everyone has pretty much said the same thing in different ways about how good your “sketches”(not really sketches, but everyone calls them different things) are.

Someone else mentioned much earlier that you need to work on defining clothing. I’m sure with the girls, none of the guys on here really care because obviously everyone wants to see pretty much naked girls from video games drawn on paper which is pretty lame hehe. The only thing I can really suggest is to thicken your folds and extend your fabric/clothing out further from the body or maybe 1/2 a cm distance further(depending on the material) from where the character’s body is for the males.

As for the proportions, it seems you’re sticking more with style rather than realistic proportions and I enjoy that. In nearly all of your pictures I can point out problems with proportions and sometimes distorted looking body parts(specifically on Rolento), but if all of those things were fixed, it would just remind me of other art that I’ve seen, so I think that is actually working for you rather than against you.

The only thing that really disturbs me in your art is the veins on the forearm/wrist area. Just preference.

Overall I find your work to be really well done and it’s good that you realize the areas you need to work on to become even greater. Keep it up.

Nice work Tokoyama. I think Rose is missing a finger, but i might just be seeing things. Other than that, I love your work.

no, that’s actually her index finger that’s sticking out the most. yeah, i’ve been having problems drawings hands lately =/

chunners again. the legs are somewhat copied from akiman’s illustration of her in the eternal challenge book
