Oh my goodness. I’ve been very dissapointed in my work, and when I saw your stuff it’s like “Damn, Sketches?” Tell me, how do you draw like that! I read you don’t take lessons, and I’ve taken a couple, tried just practicing for like a whole month straight during summer, and I haven’t gotten better, I’ve tried changing my style, but it just didn’t seem to work. I get very depressed at looking at good shit cuz it’s like “why can’t I draw like this?” Like also this art is so good, I remeber I said I wouldn’t draw anymore last week because I’m not getting any better, but you inspired me to try again. And the guy who colored in the first pic, (I think it was Urien) Damn your hella good too. Keep on doing what your doing.

yo j1nl0ng, you shouldn’t try so hard in finding your own 'style’
when i started out, i copied other people’s work. i eventually found my own style through the various inspirations and applying it to my own drawings.
Great work, Tokoyama! Ur lineart is great! The details r also very well done. The moves r coll and all. Well done, man. Be more carefull with the anatomy and body proportions.

Hmmm, I’ll take that into consideration. Tracing first perhaps?
You’ll probably never want to trace, mate. That doesn’t get your hand moving in original and unique ways. For short periods of time you might want to roughly copy some drawings as best as you can, nothing too complicated. Aswell, add personal touches to the drawing. Be warned that doing this too much will mean its a crutch for your drawings.
You’ll want to draw from your imagination a lot, using things you learn from other drawings, comics and some nice books, depending on what your interested in.
Trust me in that it takes time to develop, you’ll think you’re kicking ass in drawing and you’ll slowly progress not even noticing the changes til you look back…like…like a gradient 
You’ll always advance but just draw what you enjoy and maybe draw something out of left field for you whatever the hell you want.

i think practicing’s the most important thing when it comes to drawing. i started this thread 5 months ago and i already see major improvements. drawing sf characters takes getting used to. same goes to drawing in general. so practice up, dude!!!
