Hmm…something’s fishy here…
I still see Guile used fairly often in SF4 so him being better as a turtle style character will just add to those numbers whether some people drop him or not.

It’s interesting that the uptake for many of you guys is that more people playing a character is a bad thing. Man, it really is awful when you find out people can like the same thing as you, huh?

i think the funny/stupid part in all this is that someone like daggar g can dominate with guile at norcal regonals (watch the match with boxer) and look 10 times better than daigo did in these vids and there is no bandwagon then daigo picks him up for a bit bam 400+ people in this forum.
but whatever it will be cool if we get at least 1 new really good guile player out of this.
I believe Daigo is THAT THAT much better than Wong. seriously, no competition between the two. I aint no Daigo lover or Wong hater. both are great players, but from what I’ve seen. Wong is far far away from Daigo.
It’s because there is no hype to them. Their opponent isn’t “the best U.S. player.” Hell, I don’t even think Dagger G ever fought Jwong or at least any recorded vids. Alot of people can put on an impressive show when they are equally skilled but when they face people like Jwong, they just straight get dominated. Case in point, during West Coast Warzone 2 Valle Vs Combfiend, the match was intense but when Combofiend and Valle went up against Jwong, they got slaughter. I cringe at how free Jwong made Combofiend and Valle look.

it looked like it was a bunch of 13 year olds who’ve downloaded their 360 torrent version and thought daigo + guile = the new best character on the game.

i got news for you guys. there is NO WAY that guile is the best character on the game. he’s probably top 10-15 now. but not THE BEST. i personally think that akuma, sagat, ryu are all still up there, especially akuma. dudley, ibuki, t.hawk, cody, juri and possibly guy are up there too. then you got the characters who were good in sf4 like rufus, c.viper, zangief and balrog. THEN there’s guile imo.
i will say this though. guile now has more tools than he did before, so he can deal with the top tiers better. the tiers are definitely more compressed. so although i placed him 15th, i’m pretty sure he can hang with sagat and ryu now, with the better player winning more often than not. the characters that are going to fuck guile are the ones that have got nasty wakeup mixups like dudley, ibuki and akuma.
but yea, if you asked me who got the most buffs out of all the old characters, i’d definitely say guile. dhalsim got some too, but they don’t change his play style as much as guile’s do. i personally think that vega’s buffs might have been a false dawn. i think him and dan are still bottom tier.

i personal second guile because he is similar to vega and i somewhat favour charge character in sf4 (vega, guile, rog, bison, seth, abel, feilong, akuma, gen, ken begining to start like (ryu sad)
Like I said before: the good guile players right now know the tricks… But they lack something. Either they lacked the “Super” update (lol), or they simply lacked Daigo’s talent. No idea. Being that way, I’m quite positive that if Dagger G fought Justin’s Rufus, he’d lose. He could squeeze some rounds though, since it’s an easy matchup for guile. But I still believe Wong would end up winning.
Some players are good no matter what. Daigo’s gameplay is too goddamn solid. Not to say he doesn’t make mistakes. Oh, he does, several. But picking Guile, doing some silly things (amongst some decent others), and winning against Justin’s main character? Well, that only happens to a guy who has really really good fundamentals. And what is Guile if not a fundamentals character?
Guile’s not complex. However, he must compensate for his lack of specials, with his bag of tools, whether it be using footsies, knowing how to switch between turtleing and good corner frame traps, guessing the opponent’s jump-ins, baiting stuff. Exactly the same thing as every other character, except Guile ONLY has that.
Some people say he has two special moves. I think he has 1.5. His SB, and an EX FK. The normal FK trades too much and requires FADC’s too damn often to be usable often.
i think daigo has a complete mind fuck on justin wong AND valle. i don’t know how he does it. i think daigo just has great mind skills and a VERY solid defence. that’s one thing i noticed straight off the bat. his defence was lame as fuck (up until the last round, lol). that almost made up for the fact that he wasn’t particularly great using guile in attacking situations.
Probably because for 20 years the only “hurricane” in SF was a Hurricane Kick.

Oh, so NOW that people see Daigo play Guile, we got a bunch of cock-humping retards flocking to him? Some of you folks are like sheep, but that’s not saying anything new. Been using him since ST and definitely won’t stop just because a bunch of little girls can’t even pick a character themselves. If we at least get some truly good players out of this, but I’m willing to bet most of these bandwagon jumpers will end up pretty terrible.
