To Dark Geese! Please read!

It’s a fact, though.

Good one.

Then have the option to purchase VHS, Laserdisc, VCD, DVD, HDDVD, and Blu-Ray :]

For those interested in hearing from Bata. Not super informative but it’s him. (side note, very interesting take on “um”)

and yes it’s a good game, dont care what you think but it is  go play kof98 and dont bother me

could the people in this thread (itt) just split and have a schism already

this shit’s getting awfully drawn out guys

I like how in that vid he says HE’LL set up an impartial event in response to that post. How is that even possible if he is the one controlling / setting up the event?

No, its not.

And I don’t even like 98 very much; prefer 2002. Although I haven’t tired 98UM yet.

I dont care what u like or not.
To me it’s a good game, for u it’s not… i can live with that.

lol these threads always give a good laugh, then a facepalm.
I respect both DG and Emil, I call myself somewhat neutral.

Where I support DG: His efforts in leaving SRK (it’s named after a SF move, all of our arguments are invalid) and his efforts to close the gap between Asia and Latin America. Stating that he asked Bata to bring a stick he was comfortable with and he didn’t bring one. Stating that Bata was nervous and frustrated, this can get any player down.
Where I support Emil: Bata being uncomfortable with the setups resulting in his losses. Bata claiming he’s #1 in Japan in 98. Bata’s overall 2k2 skill (which appeared to be the premier game at Juarez Warzone)

Seriously, as a fairly weak KOF player. I find that these 2 SNK giants (in terms of rep on SRK) are clashing over subjects that really aren’t worth it.
Where each need to slow down and reach an understanding:
Emil: Yes, a Japanese player went to Mexico and loss, all side factors (aka excuses) aside. Hopefully he was given plenty of time to adjust. The lowered accuracy of HAPP parts can be learned in hours. I know you’ve been told this too much, but there is a big world outside of that computer screen, I personally would love to see you at one of DG’s tournies. I would also like to actually see your gameplay as an eye witness cause you are very knowledgeable. Not to judge your skill level, but to see how you would apply yourself competitively.
DG: Calm down on the fact that Bata lost in the 1st round. Mexico won against one Japanese player, so hold that under your belt and aim for the next. I kinda don’t like that you wanna seriously jump into enemy territory so quickly. Bring some different names here, I wanna see Dune (especially at LA) I wanna see Xiaohai/Dakou. Just so you can get a better feel on Mexico’s skill level, and don’t do what Emil says you’ll do if they lose (the go silent comment)

I’m actually very skeptical that this happened. Lecter isn’t aware of it, DG may have told him without Lecter’s knowledge but I don’t know.

What do you think, he’s the one who set this all up right?

Keyword: E-mail.

“Only reason why Justin always loses to Daigo in SF series is because he’s nervous when he plays Daigo.”

That’s all the excuses I heard in this thread. Thats what the thread is about right? Excuses for losing?

everyone is going to say one are the other sucks so i don’t see how it matters much but i bought SF4 and plan to buy SSF4. The graphics in sf4 are good it just depends on you and that your opinion. I didn’t buy XII because they had no new characters, bosses and most important people that i liked to use and movesets were cut back. Online play was also extra bad so i’m hoping XIII will renew my faith in the series

Answer just had me read through 10 pages of this. My head hurts. I think it’s going to explode.

Bata seems like a really cool dude from his interviews. He was a good sport and seemed to have a pretty good time. He didn’t handle the adversity well so he lost. He kept a high moral but that isn’t the same as handling adversity. I think he could be a great ambassador in getting more Japanese players?

I do think that if DG or anybody else for that matter wants to get some of the best competition together they can easily do so. Chris Hu is based out in NYC and it sounds like he knows a lot of top players from the east coast and China. You have Bata who seems like a cool cat from Japan who knows a lot of top players. You have Reynold, Answer, Giby, Nocturnal, Yu Hang and Mr. Kof who all know people from So Cal. DG you obviously know people in Texas and Mexico (Like Fubarduck) or at least have ways of getting in contact with them. I’m sure you can find people from the Korea’s and Middle East Asia to come over and play. Maybe even the UK? They are all cool dudes.

I also don’t think that having a get together at an event like EVO is a “Bad Thing”. Hell, the whole point is to gather interest in the game and build the community with good displays of competition. That happened when KOF drew a good amount of attention last year at EVO with the Chris Hu vs Mr. KOF money matches. There was a VERY LARGE GROUP of people watching. Great hype included. A lot of interest KOF and what was going on. That stemmed from a simple competition between West Coast and East Coast (AI vs China Town Fair?) on these boards that garnered a lot of attention/interest within a short amount of time with a lot of people. No KOF isn’t in the list of games at EVO but I think that EVO should still remain as a stop for holding SNK tournaments. EVO is the largest fighting tournament in the US and I don’t think you should miss that opportunity to display the top players from around the world to thousands of curious new faces. Like it was pointed out earlier, SF4 brought in a new era of players who are probably itching to try new stuff. EVO could help to be that building block to reach out to new players who like to try new games.

Fubarduck don’t know if you’re reading this anymore but DG was talking about me in regards to the Devastation tourney and people being upset with you. We were playing in the losers finals of KOF XII and we were having trouble with the sticks and getting the buttons set properly for the both of us. You ended up grabbing my stick and making some comment that got under my skin. I was kinda like “Who the fuck is this guy acting all disrespectful?”. I just thought you could have been more grown up about it instead of snatching the stick away like a kid. Probably was just a long day and the sticks were all fucked up anyway from other people using them if you remember; the p1 stick would be the p3 stick and the p2 stick would be p1 so when we set we set the buttons we ended up setting the buttons for one another instead of what we want. Those shitty little plastic things. It’s not that big a deal. I still had fun.

In all, I think a huge world showcase would be beneficial to the scene. Just get those Visa’s in ASAP.

Well it is SRK, opinion is sudden fact didn’t you know heh.

Hey, allow me into interject for a moment on the subject of NYC and East Coast as well as CF. The scene is non-existent here. It’s not as if there are players who exclusively play SNK games or anything, but there are just hardly any people who even touch them. KoF at CF is a bunch of Asian and South American immigrants (fair to say most of them are from China) that aren’t the type the type that know about SRK or things like that and are just happy playing at the arcade with people they know. I think a couple play on GGPO but I doubt it. As for getting actual players to represent CF or even the whole damned East Coast to represent for KoF, well that’s just damned impossible because they don’t exist! We don’t even have a 98 UM or a 2K2 UM cabinet anywhere! Seriously though, calling it West Coast vs East Coast is like calling this picture http://naropapax.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/tiananmen_square3.jpg China vs Protesters while it’s just 1 dude. Same with what DG is doing calling his event ‘Mexico vs Japan’. Sure, it’s a taste of it but it’s not like Kobe Bryant is the only player on the Lakers despite being a ball hog. But in the end, it’s not like a scene full of some players will just appear out of thin air or people will suddenly want to play SNK games so yeah, it sucks on the East Coast.

You know, there is a difference between an objectively bad and good game. Fiol can regress to Kindergarten mode, put his fingers in his ears and pretend like his found memories of that and SFII CE suddely transform them into great games but it doesn’t work that way. The game got replaced by 98 and UM for a reason, and its not because its got a higher number in the title. Same reason why people with a brain play HF or ST over CE.

Quit acting like your fanboyism opinions suddenly make games something they’re not.

facepalm KOF community is such a failure.

Has anything new come up on the Xiaohai/Dakou thing? You know, the topic in the OP, about 8 pages ago?
I am still fully aware they will castrate us all, and the VISA issue, but being the lack of DG at EVO, initiative for SNK games is in the single digits.
I personally would hate spending my whole EVO experience playing SSF4.
