Obertor, reading your posts I want to take a guess that you burn meter too quickly.
It seems like your mentality is exactly like mine was in my early months of playing Vega. One thing I was doing totally wrong was burning meter as soon as I got it.
Jozhear, you said your sweep usually wins? Would you say that the hitbox was improved from vanilla? Because I haven’t seen hitbox comparisons, but it DEFINITELY feels to me like it is better.
In vanilla it seemed like it outright lost or traded 95% of the time the opponent touched a button (any button).
After over a year, I srsly came to the point where I’m tired of discussing things like this :’)
Vega has gotten more popular around the boards, and while that may be a bit silly - it makes me sad, somehow. I loved the times when Vega was ghetto and no one lurked around the forums, except a handful of people.
I guess I am a little of the same. I could never play Ryu. I didn’t consider learning Dudley because for a while he looked like he was going to be the Ryu of Super.
Well Dan’s still cool in that respect. I’ve seen a lot more Claw, Dictator, Fei, Rose, Guile, Sakura and etc… but poor Dan I think I’ve seen once so far.
Yes. It’s one of the many problems that I’m working on.
I waste meter with accidental button presses and blocked FBA attempts.
I slow backflip too much
I get the medium kick on 30% of my kara throw attempts, and regular throw on 40% of them.
**I don’t block high
I don’t tech throws (Honestly though, I do, I think it’s an online lag problem.
I’m still not comortable with any of his anti airs. **
These 3 things cause me to lose to shoto scrubs far too often.
It’s just inexperiance. Like I said before, I don’t like/love the game enoug to spend hours and hours learning, I’m trying to learn the right way to play by reading and watching. It’s def working, my Vega is very good, just not where it could be, and not where most of the guys in this thread are at.
I’ve only been playing SF4 since super for the most part, I had SF4, but I wasn’t really into it.
Uhhh… WHAT? Talk about a fucking flip-flop. According to your dumb ass, Vega was always a ‘viable’ competitor. But… now you’re saying “now”. Okay. So were you speaking out of your ass back then like I always knew you were?
YUP.
And what are you talking about being able to combo confirm? You could always hit confirm, it was just slightly less damage. Ding ding, this is Vega’s only buff: cr.mp>EXFBA working 95% of the time from longer range. All the stronger character specific combos now work against everyone regardless of tiny hitboxes.
Hmm now let’s see what else what else… OH! One more solid invincibile AA you said? What was his first solid invincible AA? NONE LOL. U2 isn’t even that great of an AA by the way. Deeper jump ins are still safe (you know, those same deep jump ins that ST can’t handle?), and it does 420 max. If it whiffs it certainly is not safe, and especially if it’s blocked. You can be chased down and punished if you whiff or have your U2 blocked. Give it time and people will learn to deal with it. Your U2 won’t be a get out of jail free card anymore.
Speaking of U2, anyone else remember when Jozhear said he didn’t want a single invuln frame on Vega because it would ruin the ‘flavour’? Now you’re praising the very fact he has a decent (one time use) reversal! LOL
What’s his excellent punisher by the way? His punishes are the exact same, save some character specific stuff which U1 or U2 can now fulfil.
His damage output is marginally better due to the aforementioned fact the large character specific bnb’s now work on everyone. One of the highest in the game? Keep dreaming. Vega got fixed up a bit even a bit more than the rest of the cast? Yes he did. That’s because the rest of the cast was already a competent choice, which happens to go back to the fact that you were speaking out of your fucking ass the whole lifespan of vanilla. Buffed? Only one. That bnb I keep talking about.
I’m not denying at all that Vega has got better. He has. I told you, instead of smelly garbage he’s well scented garbage. D-C tier max when the hype dies down, the tier dust settles and when people realize Vega is the same bitch he was in SF4.
Lack of knowledge of the game, hilarious. You’re the mad man who thinks Vega has “one of the best pressure games” in the cast
Would you like me to explain to you what’s happened? You, like most the other Vega players, were so starved for something decent on your character you take any tiny thing he has and blow it up to the point where you think it’s “godlike” when in reality it’s just decent when more than half the cast has something better or on par. You want godlike? Try Balrog footies. Try Ibuki ambiguous kunai. Try Rufus dive kick into target combo ultra. Try Akuma damage output.
Sasaki I know. I shouldn’t have said anything. I’m tired of it too, I basically say the same thing every tmie anyway.
And ShadowOS you make some points, partly due to my poor phrasing (like the 'other invincible ultra, of course i know he had no invincible revesral before), but we still agree to disagree obviously. Not much more to say than that, I obviously value the fixes much more than you do. I’ll always respect your opinion because as much as you’re strident when making your arguments you still know what’s up. I guess I won’t be getting off the Vega high.
thats what makes me think he isnt a true bait character. having to be creative with tools mean you are using the tools in a manner they where not developed for. now for punishing things, he is great with that especially during footsies, because he can punish other wise safe whiffs. punishing yes i whole heartedly aggre, but for baiting things not so much. the example about st.lk whiff works on people that push buttons, but against people/characters that dont push buttons to win it becomes extremly hard to bait, hence why i say he isnt a bait and punish character. he is more like; punish your dumbass for pushing a button for not respecting my speed and range of my pokes.
I was starting to get really frustrated with Vega in SF4 due his hard matchups. I also hated trying to win without having a Ultra or a Super against good opponnets. But now with SSF4 he can be an absolute terror. He’s stronger, takes more damage, and has decent Ultras. My ranked win rate with him in 69%. I’m glad I toughed it out the last year and a half. It’s finally starting to pay off. Vega FTW!!!
IDK, ultra 2 is a huge step back from ultra 1 to me, it seems to be too slow. Like you you guys said, it’s anti air, but it takes more frames to hit than ultra 1 and ultra 1 can be used as an anti air too.
I guess it’s good for when you’re bing rushed down, but so is ultra 1 if you think about it, they both hit by suprise, so really I don’t see much advantage to using ultra 2. Even Blanka balls, head butts, and all of vega’s most hated enemy move can be countered by ultra 1.
Ranked matches are practically free in this game. Go to Endless battle and you’ll more often run into good players. My ranked win percentage is almost 90% ---- my endless battle is more around 50%.
To be honest, this was the same case in vanilla. Championship mode and Ranked weren’t much of a challenge. Go through Player match and you’d get wooped.
