TN Thread:We got two hit air combos

According to this site YouTube - thelensoftruth’s Channel the PS3 verison’s frame rate is a tad smoother and there is a lot less screen tearing. But this is according to just one site so take it for what you will…

I’ve been watching Eugene play it on PS3 off and on, and jesus that choppy gameplay is awful. How can you guys play on that crap?

GG"s Last night G1 Tin Tin and JFord

Number of MvC 3 games played since the last gathering. Zero.

Fuck work, and fuck being sick.

GGs Tin Tin and DGA

Alright so PS3’s (2ms input lag) on crt’s = xbox360’s on “lagless” LCDs(2ms input lag).

Time to practice on my “lagless” LCD and hope for CRTs in FR.

Gg’s to all i played in mahvel last night.

Rukus man keep reppin that team cause shit is too serious!

Bishop dude as always fun games and i’m finally adapting to mvc3 and appreciating the game more as i keep playing and learning new things. I can tell we gonna be scary strong in this game if we keep playing the way we playing.

Flymike thanks for the free money

Squabb keep playing ssf4 and stick to akuma!

Now i’m taking a break from the game today for like…a few hours lol!!

Oh and final round is gonna be too serious! I can’t wait!

I seriously don’t understand how people choose NOT to play on the national system of choice on a game that they play on a competitive level.

Half this state will be at Final Round and some of you will go to EVO, knowing very well that these NATIONAL tournaments are going to run the games on PS3, only to keep playing on 360 but will blame the loss on the PS3 when all you have to do is play the game on the system of choice across the country.

I don’t know of any other sporting event or hobby that would do this. I was into R/C cars for awhile and before the race, they tell you what type of engine you need to have in the car in order to compete. Its my fault if I choose to run a weaker engine or an engine that does not meet the qualifications set by the national organization of that particular hobby, not my car, not the organization because I know well in advance the requirements needed to be efficient.

It truly baffles me beyond belief but hey, I guess some things aren’t meant to be understood.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but i think EVO is one of the last few majors that is PS3-exclusive. Many of the newer events, like WCW, NCR, and some others have used 360 in the past. I think eventually we’ll see a complete shift to 360.

Because some of us don’t have any active way to play a game we already own on another system, on a PS3. My entire circle of friends all have 360’s, we play fighters on 360. If I want to go to Final Round one year, do I have to actively hunt someone down so that I can go to their house and practice combos on another system? “Hey man, I’m going to Final Round this year. I know you don’t play fighting games, and I know you can’t have guests over late, and I know you’ll have to make time to be at home to let me in and all that, but if I bring my game over can I sit in your living room and play it?” Right.

Sometimes shit happens bro. Everyone is turning 360. If Final Round wants their Framerate vs. Everyone 3 Fate of two worlds and their Ultra Lag Fighter 4, then by all means, but shit, the evidence is there that PS3 has problems with those 2 games.

No joke stand up or roll over

Their isn’t a difference in between what system it’s played on. It’s all in the head none of that matters

There is a difference but it’s basically negligible. Try telling me you can tell the difference between 51ms and 53ms ping. If it was 20ms or even 10ms, I might care.

Yeah but nothing to really worry about. Can’t even notice

360 is the “system of choice.” You know this because there’s so many more online players on 360. Nobody wants to play an inferior version of the game for 2 tournaments. I owned SF4 on PC, 360, and PS3. But, after a while realized that the PS3 experience just sucked (due to fewer players online) and when SSF4 came out I didn’t bother picking up the PS3 version.

Columbus Bar Battles isn’t really a major, but it is huge for a “regional” - and they had five platforms represented for main games (PS3, X360, PS2, DC, Coin-Op).

There’s no input lag on either ps3 or 360 for mvc3. But I can honestly say I’ve noticed some skippage when there is lots of shit going on. The frame rate drops for maybe 0.75 - 1 second, stuff skips, and it’s really not that bad but it is annoying. I’ve dropped combos cuz of it: not cuz of it dropping my inputs (input is still not affected), but cuz I was mindfucked by it for that brief moment.

I see it most often when there are 3 or 4 chars onscreen. Never noticed it on 360 at all. I agree it’s not that bad and if you’re used to it shouldn’t really affect anything, but when I was still brand new to it it bugged me.

Now I can’t deny that the online experience is much better on 360. I’m not arguing that at all. What I am arguing is that I find it a little silly to say you lose a match because the PS3 has “lag”. I play on PS3 when I am at home and usually find myself playing on 360 when I am at a local gathering here and can very seldom tell there is a timing issue between the two. I can still link jab jab short headbutt on either system without to much of a problem. Its just not that big of a deal.

And if you think it is, our National Championship runs it on that system so I would find it wise to get accustomed to the system as well as the setup it is played on.

I just think its great practice for anybody semi-serious about these ol fighting games to be accustomed to playing on both systems. Excuses go out the window when it comes time to get busy.

uh lol. Quincy could link jab jab short headbutt on a Guitar Hero Guitar in his sleep. Thats rookie mode.

The moves come out late on PS3. If you play on 360 a lot for SSF4 and play on PS3 you will notice the difference. It’s a 2 frame difference. No one is saying anything about 360 at all. When you have people plinking everything because they are 1-2 frame links it makes a huge difference. When you react to throws and miss, or stick out a 3 or 4 frame move and know the exact point at when to interrupt something, timing is affected. No one is making this up. The system of choice to play this game is PS3, not 360.

Now I am not condoning anything here with tourneys, if you CHOOSE to enter a tourney with PS3 and then BLAME it on the PS3 and you haven’t played or practiced PS3 enough, that is silly and complaining and making excuses.

Now about this “national” tourney crap I keep hearing. EVO uses PS3s because they have PS3s. If someone wants to buy them 100 360s they will change. I am sure this has to do with sponsorship but don’t start saying it’s the national system of choice. It’s EVO’s system of choice and the people that still OWN PS3s that don’t have 360s that are saying there is no difference or complaining. The tourneys that still use PS3 for SSF4 are just using it for EVO quals and that’s about it. It’s an inferior version.

I am strictly talking SSF4 here. We know there are problems with MVC3, but it’s a new game, so shit is bound to be found but it is pretty easy to tell the difference between PS3 and 360 if you play both of them a lot. Why do you think the online is so shit in it? You are magnifying delay with lag.

The thing most of you are also not realizing, EVO does not get the correct version on these games. They have a history of “worse” versions of games regardless.

Look up the history of Super Turbo at EVO. Shirts, myself, Valle, and afrolegends said there was something seriously wrong with Capcom Classics VOl 2 (Super Turbo on PS2) the first 5 days we had it. We played ST on a cabinet every other day, but no one believed any of us. Here is what we got to hear: DAVID SIRLIN MADE IT, YOU DOn’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT HE SAYS IT HAS NO DELAY, YOU ARE ROOKIE. Fast forward 8 or so months later, tourney at EVO, NKI says there is latency and delay on the game itself and there’s a huge thread about it. People listened, that was it for that.

You can’t just say “nah, no difference” unless you play both versions a lot or spend a lot of time on certain aspects of gameplay. This 2 frame thing is not made up for SSF4 for PS3 and ST changing from Arcade to Dreamcast to PS1 to PS2 to AE for PS2 to DC again to HDR for PS3 (which has problems unlike 360) is the perfect example of wtf with games and not getting versions correct.

Again, I’m not condoning excuses, if you enter a tourney for PS3 and don’t practice up on it, your problem, don’t cry about it.

However, if you DON’T play the game regularly and you DON’T rely on specific gameplay tactics that require small frame interruption, don’t throw out madness saying you won’t know the difference because it’s pretty obvious the people that play the game the most know. Just because EVO has the game on a specific system does not mean that is the best system to have it on, it’s just the ‘easiest’ at the time right now and that would be PS3.

Even the Japanese have talked about the PS3 thing, you think they are making stuff up too? LOL

gdbell: Did you really post jab jab short into headbutt with Balrog? It’s not even a link, you can mash that move into the combo. There is absolutely no skill or timing involved.

System of choice is to play on PS3 only if you use a PS pad, Don’t own an XBOX 360, or are a Tekken player. Tell me who else would “prefer” PS3 that plays this game a lot. Even freaking Justin Wong knows about this mess and talked about it, he just adjusts and that’s that and he even said that’s what you have to do, but don’t deny the issue is there. Everyone in Nashville knows about it and can attest to it.
