This whole thing with 2ms ping difference being a catastrophe . Get the fuck outta here. Dudes play a shitload of online matches before local casuals or tourneys like it’s nothing. Not a word. But going from Xbox 360 to Playstation 3 severely hinders execution? People drop their sticks holding their hands and cringing like they touched a hot stove. WHAT? And now everyone is going to automatically follow suit and have a fucking mental block breakdown everytime they play on PS3 because of all this nonsense. Not to say there isn’t any difference at all whatsoever. Of course there is. But it’s not noticeable until people came across actual specs randomly one day and OMFG.
But yea some of you, and you know who you are, with the laggy ass tvs and shitty wi-fi connection playing ranked matches every night then want to turn your nose up at a PS3 setup…eat a warm buttered turd. I’m serious. Shit has gotten out of hand. Play the fucking game. Y’all have sticks right? Shut the fuck up.
Shawn, hahahahahahahah. This is because 360 has better online. Why wouldn’t there be more players ONLINE? For people who want a better online experience, it’s the “system of choice”. Duh. But when you guys bring tournaments or simple casuals into it, it becomes a whole other issue. I swear you guys are Bill Gates minions.
Jose: From your earlier text, get Tekken on 360. That’s the system you have right? And you’re using stick anyway right? Ok. Who gives a shit. All the tourneys will remain PS3 but so what? And unless you have crazy extra sensitive nerve endings that don’t exist in the real world or don’t want to have a man dressed up as you when you boot your system, you’ll be fine. More than fine. I swear you will. Don’t feed into the bullshit.
Next people will be carrying around their hard-drives. “No we gotta play on mine. You have too many savefiles on your system! It takes away storage space so can’t do my ambiguous kara footsie in 0.035 frames.” Jesus …
P.S. I remember when the 3D Sonic games on PS2 had slowdown but those same games didn’t on Xbox or GC. Ran smooth as a baby’s ass. I’ll give you bitches that. Fuck you.
Mike: You missed the point though, I think it is idiotic people have excuses about the PS3 if they play online 360 all the time anyway knowing full well going into a PS3 tourney, but there is a difference. I play extremely different online to off because of just that, you can’t play footsies correctly and interrupt in between certain things, so it ends up me having to do things early. The PS3 is even WORSE because of the delay already imbedded in the game. That’s why people complain about PS3 being so shitty online, it’s just magnified more, but I agree that it’s stupid going in to a tourney unprepared for PS3.
It’s just like how it is stupid when people go into old arcade tourneys and not get used to the sticks a day beforehand and complain about them.
Or of course, since we were on the subject on “national” things…I know how everyone LOVES to hear me bring up old shit (LOL) but you know the “national” joystick for Super Turbo for years was a Wico or Happ 360 stick? Anyone that plays on those things knows it’s great for motion characters but for charge characters and instant blocking it’s impossible. Try using Balrog consistently on one of those, LOL…but the point being just because “it’s in a national tourney” doesn’t mean it’s the best thing. Why do you think everyone uses freaking switch sticks for ST now. We had to use the “national tourney” shit for almost 10 years until people just went nuts and now it’s Sanwa/Seimitsu time.
My only PS3 practice option is going to be tons of casuals AT the tourney lol. Its whatever though, I suck anyway. Strangely enough I could tell a difference at KiT last year, despite my suckyness.
I honestly dont have a real problem with PS3 though, I know it can be easier/quicker for people to switch controllers so that helps speed up tournaments a bit. Theres usually problems with people not unsyncing their pad but that would happen with either system really.
Oh my what did I start here. I was just simply saying that the difference in the PS3 affected Josh. He wasn’t making excuses for anything. This was just my observations from the tournament yesterday due to what he stated after the tournament was over. Josh will be the first to tell you that he just got outplayed and his lack of practice hurt him. He said himself that he had not practiced SF on PS3 and wasn’t used to the difference because he plays sooo much on the Xbox (and the execution with Rufus is so high). As for MVC3 he said there wasn’t really a lag issue as much as a frame rate drop issue when a lot is going on at the same time on the screen. It is just something he isn’t used to yet.
Jason: Haha I wouldn’t even have made a post if I was talking about PS3’s online. I just got mad because i was crawling through a muddy basement earlier today and got a text from Jose about whats the differences in Tekken 6 360/PS3 responsive refresh executioness shit. It’s gone too far. Now players are gonna be more concerned about learning diagnostics and refresh rate stuff than knowing their chara’s normals. And I’m not being sarcastic, but I just didn’t know it was so devastating. Like, this changes everything for me. And rest assured when I get my mind right to wanna play stuff seriously again I WILL have a new excuse to use. You guys might not be using it as one, and actually being fucked by the 2ms somewhat I believe, but I’m going to run this shit into the ground on every 360 setup. Because naturally I’m accustomed to ps3. Meaning 360 moves too fast and responsive for me. I want to semi-dial my shit.
But I got a real question. What’s worse? PS3 input lag or Xbox 360 online input lag? Truthful answer.
If I have a good connection on 360, the 1-frame links still come out without me adjusting my timing. If I have to adjust to hit the link online, then I know the connection is garbage, no matter how green the bars are.
Can’t speak for PS3, just hearing from most ppl that have played both that 360 feels more consistent.
We always end up back at this argument every thread, and we never cover anything other than SSF4 and Tekken.
Sometimes 360 isn’t the best console for everything, and it has nothing to do with basic console v. console.
HD Remix is pretty much dead now and arcade ST is red hot at tournaments. Too bad there’s no 100% perfect console port for that game, so…neither 360 or PS3 is best for that game now.
MvC2 has been played on Dreamcast forever. Except at Evo '10, and there were people that weren’t happy about it being on PS3 instead of Dreamcast!
Well, that game’s dead now, yeah, some people like Beats and Mr. Blasty will say that MvC3 is garbage and would rather play MvC2, but here’s a reality check - it’s almost impossible that MvC2 gets a revival like original ST did at tournaments. They’re two entirely different games and I’m sure the prospect of switching back to Six Characters 2: New Age of MSP because MvC3 is “too scrubby” doesn’t entice a lot of people, myself included.
I’m glad I could start this fruitful conversation.
Sorry for my ignorance:
Therefore in a 60 fps game, 16.5 ms = 1 frame, so there is 33.3 milliseconds of lag on a PS3, it’s actually almost like a really good internet connection, maybe between two cities on Cable.
Yeah Tim, this is all YOUR fault!!! I figured it got started because I said something yesterday about the ps3 messing Josh up at the tournament but we can blame it on you! LMAO!!! :badboy:
lol @ bill gates’ minions. Then I must be Sony’s minions because of how much I trash talk the 360’s menu system. And I must be Nintendos… no wait… their shit mostly sucks ass. Either way… FFRRT
People defending PS3 SSF4 because it’s all they know.
I own a PS3 stick SPECIFICALLY for Final Round. We’re going to train ahead of time and be playing in our hotel room. shrug It’s dealt with, baby.
Oh no I can definitely tell, cr. shorts are kinda imbeddded into my brain after the millions of them I’ve done in every specific lag situation I can think of.
Usually FR uses ONLY CRTs anyways, I’ve been to some other tournaments cough Jackson cough where a Best Buy Brand TV was being used… Poor fellows playing in the first 2 brackets probably didn’t get a fair match.
Hahahahahaha!! Yep and I am out of here. I am going to go watch Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
What time are you getting there Friday? We are going to be there by noon on Friday. Are you all using the hotel TV or what? Josh can bring his setup for the room. I am sure he will want to come and practice with you all.
Dream: I brought up that simple combo because some people will swear the reason they can’t perform that combo on PS3 because of the 2 frame lag. lol Its seriously a joke.
Also, as I mentioned, I usually meet with the local crew three times a month and everytime we meet, I am playing on 360 and truly can’t tell a difference. Maybe that is because my character doesn’t require super tight plinking execution. But I can’t tell a difference in my Anti-Air timing and I can’t tell a difference if I choose say Akuma and am trying to do Demonflip fancy combos. I do notice lag in TVs of course but not in particular systems.
As for the “national” thing you refer to, I mentioned that because as I stated earlier, EVO runs them on PS3. Doesn’t matter that that version is inferior, your Nationals are running it on that system. No one is going to want to hear “ahhhh man, the tourney was ran on PS3 so thats why I didn’t reach top 16!” If I am playing Tennis and I know that my next tournament will be played on clay, it would be silly for me to go practice on a grass court. Practice up and adjust to the very small difference is all I am saying.
I have seen the video of the 2 frame difference. I know the 360 version is technically “better”. But to go to Final Round or EVO and say you went two and out because of “lag” is laughable.
