Also, thank you and GG’s to the 3 new players who showed up last night. Tronic, what’s up, I’m Abe, the Asian guy who played the slaw Hulk team lol. We hope to see you guys again next week! I hope you and your friends had fun.
Also, Injustice: maybe it’s just the character I’m playing but I’m still meh about it. I’ll have to redbox it and play around in training mode til I find someone that clicks hopefully.
Since I’ve never played MK9 I really cant compare the two games. From the way it looks yes, from the way it plays no. So yea @Hiryu02 just experiment with all the characters and see where that takes ya. And as far as counterpicking goes I saw that coming based off certain characters “traits”.
@hiryu02 I think a lot more can link than you think. Especially after seeing that Solomon Grundy video. Buy most of the time you do have to input your combo before you can see it link, unless you use a meter burn to stun the character. Which i find to be a little frustrating.
I’m just saying “links” as in using +frames on hit to connect another move that is NOT part of the cancel combo, cannot be done.
The whole premise of the engine is that you have to enter the full string BEFORE you see the initial hits, otherwise the combo drops straight up. If that’s the only way to perform strings then the moves are not linking, you are just buffering the inputs and they have to be entered very early.
So you can’t really delay a string either, or visually confirm and stop or continue. You have to commit fully or not at all.
For example, in Marvel, you can LMH, then cancel into a safe special with a lot of characters if the LMH was blocked. If it hits, the game allows you to LMH, then S.
Imagine if you had to input LMHS or LMH special before the L even hit. If you picked the wrong string, then either you are unsafe and about to get punished, or you only got mild damage because you canceled into special instead of launching.
It’s just very different than almost every other FG system.
GGs, I had so much fun with my Sesame Street ABC combos I might just go crazy and buy Marvel lol. I’m sure I could find it for like $15 somewhere. I just need to not question things. Why can Spencer OTG like 7 times and get unscaled hits in one combo? Why does Wesker’s super get stuffed by random normals? And why is Sentinel so ass? Marvel baby…
You just have to get out of the Capcom 2D fighter mindset. It is indeed a very different system but it’s workable. Once you get away from thinking “Well usually I’d be able to do this,” it really opens up. The heavy button is super important, universal overhead ground bounce with F+H, universal sweep with D+H, universal wall bounce with B+H. Combo breakers that can potentially give you health back, and the game is 3 days old. And you’ve touched it once. You just gotta get used to the mechanics through sitting down in training mode and experimenting. If you look at the entire string as your hit confirm instead of a single button press then you can make a decision on which special to finish the string with, if blocked then end it with a safe special (from what I can tell, everybody has at least one). If the string is hitting you have time to input a different special that causes knock down or launches. Sometimes the special will serve both purposes. You just have to go through the move list and learn all of your characters moves, like Tekken, only with less moves to consider.
Yea I deffinettly agree that you need to learn all individual characters inputs. I saw somebody’s strategy guide last night. And It actually looked lik it might be worth getting. And miles923 on YouTube has some cool stuff on it too. I can’t wait to get off work and play.
Yup it just takes getting used since it isn’t a capcom fighter and it’s Murican and we do things different here. And yeh counter picking will be the norm cuz I would rather play against Grundy with Harley than raven, and would rather play raven against deathstroke than Harley. And don’t worry bout frames they don’t matter that much. This game is just different and yeh it’s only day three can’t pass judgement on it unless you sit down and play it and experiment.
And in other news: I hate you rukus. Why did you go on and have to make me fear Grundy? The fucker grabbed me out of a super! Didn’t know he wanted pants that bad.
