Just got finished with a Marvel session with some guy that I know, who generally isn’t really that great. Having been scrubbed out by random full screen beams, and “My first zoning- by Fischer Price” I’ve got to ask myself “Why the fuck do I keep trying to play this shitfest online?” Shit I’ve blocked, and I know I’ve blocked, doesn’t matter because you’re dealing with 15-20 frames of lag because a guy lives 400 miles away from you.

Meanwhile, guys that are content to just mash out their combos/blockstrings regardless of whether they are safe or not get away with murder while the composed players like myself are sitting here becoming increasingly frustrated at the amount of crap that people can do only because you can’t react to their attacks with a simple backwards motion on your stick to block it.

Example: Wolverine instant divekick. Yes, I can see you doing it. Yes, I even held back on my controller. It doesn’t matter, because wolvy is only three feet off the ground and I’m going to eat this low altitude dive kick with massive hitstun - enjoy closing your eyes and mashing your free B.n.B. to hyper.

Add the fact that the only time I was actually beating the guy is when he had 40% health on wolverine and I was sitting on 80% of my team’s hp. X-FACTOR BUB! I from full screen I pull out sentinel assist - Logan proceeds to run full screen to me, which I can only assume to be coincidence, due to the person’s inability to land a combo longer than 7 hits --> Hyper… Anyway, so he then does whatever random combo to berserker barrage x completely taking sentinel from 100% to 0 and chipping out half of dormamu’s hp. So I figure on block I can start a jab combo with Dormamu… Sure can’t… Not only has our Bub Logan recovered from his Hyper, but he’s already mashing a combo of his own. LOLOLLOL CR A - CR A - CR A - CR A - CR A - St C - DRILL CLAW… oh wait, Dormamu… you’re already dead. Poor Zero doesn’t even know what’s happening. As he proceeds to be chipped to death by a berserker barrage X while he’s still in the air.

So I sit here, scratching my head. Wondering, “seriously?” I don’t mind that I lost, but honestly, I destroyed your entire team with Zero and Sentinel assist and you pull out this Bub ass Wolverine and molly whop my whole squad in 7 seconds?

Bear in mind, I have no problem with Marvel, and I understand it to be taken lightly. I really enjoy playing the game in person with my friends and at my fight nights. My issue is playing the game online in general. Every time I get an invite from somebody on my friend list who doesn’t live in Tennessee I often question whether or not I should take it, always regretting my decision to do so a few matches into the set.

Call this whining if you will. Playing this game online is not effective practice. You can’t even get the match up experience you can like playing SSFIV online, as most players will just do random special attacks that might or might not hit you (See Akuma Tatsu).

I have more to say, but this is already a wall of text.

TL;DR Version: Xfactor and why does this game have so much lag when you play online?

Don’t play this game online, unless your team is like, Akuma, Wesker and Sent. That way, you can just throw shit out and have it work. Just treat Marvel online sort of like Tekken online, except that instead of no throws in Tekken online, its no blocking in Marvel.
