TN THREAD - Dateline: How to catch a Oni

Just tell me when and I’ll teach you all you want or need to know. Oh, and find a character that you like before you ask me to help. It can even just be based on what the character looks like; doesn’t matter. I’ve gone thru a lotta lengths to try to build a Tekken scene here, but people fell out of it cuz it’s inherently a little harder than holding down-back. We even had a “top 10” TEAM that I made a website for, but that died in 2 weeks hahaha. Oh well.

man I tell you, haters sure are gonna hate.

That was directed to some game called Bully I’m playing. I’m just running around the school and dudes just scoop you up and throw you into your classes. I want to be truant lol, stop hating hater

Hey man I never even tried Tekken.

Well I dicked around with Lars for a while, I know you’re good with him. I also liked King, but I think I’ll leave that to Lil Majin. I’ll find someone I’m interested in and get back to you.

this is why i went to cody to learn how to play proper. i haven’t played ANY fighters lately cause i’m waiting on my stick to try and learn T6 stickness…but yeah, i’m right there too. i would say i’m down for casuals but i’ve been bodied by school stuff for the past month. as per usual.

if you try Ganryu i’m sure Mike will be your best friend forever. :stuck_out_tongue:

No one is saying the game is not fun, but the problem is VS games (and Smash) are so rule stricken with things to ALLOW it to be tournament viable. A ton of people in here are playing MVC3 fully unaware of how much stuff is actually NOT allowed in MVC2 tourney wise. I think it’s great people play MVC3 for tournaments. I thought it was great when MVC1 and 2 had tournaments. Heck, I even had fun running X-Men VS SF tournaments but it’s essentially like Smash Bros all over again and people just don’t realize it…

X-Men VS SF, EVERYONE had an infinite, you just dealt with it but people were forced to “drop” infinites after X amount of reps. There’s like 3 different arcade updated versions to this game as well for the hardcore.

MVC1: You guys really think Double War Machine and that Super Venom character made this game remotely playable after X amount of time? I think you lost 50% block damage to Double War Machine or something. I remember that and Colossus assist being wtf…oh, and Strider was pretty bad too…

MVC2: Ruby Hear freeze, Gambit glitch, Dead Body Infinites; etc…

MVC3: The game has been character BALANCE patched after a MONTH. Let me repeat, BALANCE patched after a month.

THis is NOT the same as SF being fixed for things like Fei Long vs Juri, etc. THis was a complete gameplay change for at least Sentinel. I don’t play the game so I don’t know what else there is with it, but there’s no if ands or buts about this.

Smash Bros had to have STAGE rules and NO ITEMS and all this crazy stuff to be playable in tourneys.

Bottom line is, the game is fun, sure, but if you sit at home, play your buddies only, and don’t play this game competitively or try to, you can’t defend it. You have no idea what there is in store. Great fun mess around game, but you have to be kidding like every other VS game trying to take this thing seriously.

I mean, say what you want about ANY SF game, heck, say what you want about the MK arcade games…post SFII none of the games were “broken” like EVERY SINGLE VS MARVEL GAME that has ever been released.

I can’t think of one instance where this is the case sans possibly CVS2 and roll cancelling, but even then, nothing compared to the stuff in Marvel games and yet, here it is again trolling everyone…

Graham, this isn’t all directed at you, but I’m pretty sure you just don’t know how silly the stuff is unless you are playing it to win in tourneys…playing with your buddies is whatever, but I just think with the new generation of players, everyone takes this game more seriously than they should as opposed to many years ago when the scenes were clearly divided.

I still think there will be a choice, people will go from one to the other eventually as history has shown…

I just think even playability wise not everyone likes 50/50s or combos from one low jab, but these types of games are fun, no questioning that.

Oh, Street Fighter AE is now 50 cents per play. No more 75 cents!

And…if TTT2 is going to be released this Summer, plan on us getting it (in a different setup with Korean sticks and pad converters)

!!!

Agreed. Let’s make it happen cap’n.

This. I wish I had come up in the Golden Era. But then I might be old like Jason…hmmm…choices

Maybe I’ll get back on Tekken before TTT drops. I keep finding myself…not practicing marvel. Problem is I get home from work and am so tired that I practice SF and am ready to crash. That and I like playing other games outside of fighters, which I seem to like the time/energy for these days…

I’d be into it. I’d also be into a legit Banjo 3. Fuck that nuts and bolts shit, I want my platformer *crossarms and pout

Saw this the other day…which brings me to…

lmao.

…Huh? Hasn’t he been at GG for a while?

This sounds hot. As does fiddy cent AE.

OOOOHHHH, and the cards too??

ffffffffffffffuuuuuck. all my love jason. all of it. you can have it. i will wrap it in a bow for you.

NUTS AND BOLTS WAS LEGIT NIGGA F U >:(((((((

i kid, i kid. but seriously. nuts and bolts was actually fun. it isn’t once you realize that every mission can be completed by putting the fattest engine on the wonkiest thing with scuba gear and three helicopter blades and wheels on it, and even then that’s an exaggeration. i had the audacity to buy that shit on launch and had the summer to play it in…and it was actually pretty fun. it wasn’t the banjo i grew up with, but it was banjo, and it was actually pretty cool. color me stupid but i really enjoyed it and look forward to playing it again soon. that and farcry 2. still on my need to finish list. still haven’t traded them in. (no resell value lol.)

i really would like the midTN tekken scene to pick up with TTT2 coming out. it looks too fun. it’s tekken tag. it needs more love than tekken is getting now. i really honestly find myself wanting to practice tekken more than i do marvel and even street fighter these days. right in that same boat with you chris.

I didn’t see this earlier, but I completely agree. I just want to have some sort of scene and just have fun/hang out.

I played SSF4 for a while, but the two characters I used stopped me from really diving into it. Seth, while fun and awesome, could be frustrating, as one mistake means you die. Hakan was just… Hakan. lol

Blazblue turns a lot of people off just because it’s not GG. The game is fun, but three characters pretty much rule in tournaments.

Tekken… I’ve never really given Tekken a try. I just don’t like the way combos look (jugglejugglewallhitjuggle), but the character designs are awesome.

SC4 died a long time ago, but it was great. Plus, I felt it was balanced. Pretty much any character could win a tournament, minus Mina and Yoda. This is how I first met Lil Majin… damn that was a hype tournament.

Marvel is being played by a lot of people, including some of my friends that “hate fighting games,” so I’m sticking with it for a little while.

Tekken combos might not look good to the casual observer…but oh lordy they feel delicious.

I’m kinda hyped about some SC4 stuff but only because I keep up with the SC5 lead director on the tweeters. He was asking about why people liked SC3’s Chronicles of the Sword (aka YOU GOT SRPG IN MY FIGHTING GAME) and whether or not SC5 should have something like that. It’s kinda cool stuff.

… what? That game was extremely unbalanced. Astroth is faster than Taki in SC4.

Can’t have cards if they run off Japanese server…

Fuck all y’all and yer easy ass 10 frame reversal input fighting games. I should’ve done this a looooooooooooooooong time ago…

I’m moving to Korea and play Star Craft II.

Also, there is a good possibility that I won’t be able to make it to the tourney this Saturday due to lack of hard cash… If I happen to successfully sell a couple things and make a good amount of cash, then I should be able to come.

But seriously, I have been getting a keen interest in SCII lately and want to pick it up. Looks fun and lots more button pressing.

Soul caliber and doa… how to take them seriously?

Every mainstream fighter on the market is lame compared to the WWE All-Stars demo, if you aren’t playing it, shame on you

you don’t lol

soul caliber 3 and 4, just play astaroth or kilik.

doa: learn to throw counter. you will do it often.

Chronicles of the Sword was pretty cool. There was some good things about it, and some really dumb things about it. SC5 won’t be out until… forever. :frowning:

Taki had 5A… which was one of the only moves that could punish Asta’s bullrush. In fact, that 5A punished everything. Back when I really followed that game, all kinds of characters were winning tournaments iirc.

LOL. Who said anything about doa? (Insert any fighting game) trumps doa.

It’s No Mercy meets some sort of fighting game mechanics. It looks crazy… in a good way.
