Tired of paying for and dealing with quick disconnects? WATCH THIS TUTORIAL!

Man, I hate quick disconnects! They break on you, never hold the wires tight enough, and never seem to work right! So I’ve devised a way to string wires through the holes of the bottom of sanwa buttons so they have the same functionality as quick disconnects; the ability to put them on and take them off quickly! These are tried and tested methods that hold TIGHT!

The tutorial is in the form of a .gif:

But Canto, what about daisy chaining ground wires? Oh don’t you worry buddy I got you covered. check this .gif:

To untie them, just pull them loose. Using a pair of pliers will help, but they will come off without too much trouble.
Say NO! to quick disconnects! :bgrin:

nice lol

you can even finish it off with a little bit of black electric tape.

That is just crazy enough to work! Good Shit:wonder:

Half my sticks have them just soldered to the buttons.

It takes me less time to solder and desolder wires than it does to pry off QDs.

And then you solder the wires on, right? Tell me you solder these on.

lol This is so ghetto. I remember doing this for car speakers. You guys can also stick a small flat head into the female end of the QD and make the opening bigger.

No. This holds tight and is sufficient. It has been thoroughly tested in 5 different arcade sticks. I’ve also thrown some around and no issues arose. :pleased:

Oh hi Canto, why don’t you log onto IRC anymore. Chan’s dead without you.

I like your ghetto method though, even though my QD’s never come off or break.

People actually have problems with Quick Disconnects? Really?!

It just seems so much more convenient for me to use needle nose pliers on QDs to pry them off. I also fold the exposed wire in half and twist it so that it fills in the QD tighter.

I use this method when I don’t have solder or Qds when working with electronics.

The issue is that when you do it like this, it’s not QUICK.

it takes less tame to solder the wires.

Where would i go about gettin those “professional” quick disconnects and the crimper designed for them - the bare kind you see in the TEs for example. I know someone mentioned them in a previous method and had a picture of proper crimping/use of them

gamingnow.net

I’m just seeing the plain old sleeved qds on gamingnow

with this method, replacing buttons in the future must be a pain in the ass IMO
Great tutorial, though.

Good tutorial.

Also, I read the thread title in Billy Mays’ voice.

It’s not though. Try it out yourself. This method is meant to replace quick disconnects and have the same functionality. This is a tried and tested method.

Uh… thread hijack anyone? You’re asking where to get quick disconnects in a thread that is showing a method that will make them obsolete? lol.

Very nice. Great idea if you don’t feel like dealing with quick disconnects.

I was honestly thinking about doing this before but wasn’t sure how well it would work.

Your guide however shows a very good tying method to keep the wire secure and snug and connection good.

I’d still put a small piece of electrical tape (I’ve never liked exposed wires)

Great tutorial

Lol, soldering would be easier and quicker than this. This is super ghetto.

I’ve hardly used QD’s, but just using a pair of pliars makes them come loose fairly easily, and if you really have issues with the wire coming out of the QD, you could always just crimp, then solder to the QD to make it about as permanent as it’s going to get. Unless the wire actually snaps, it’s not going to come out of the QD.

I think what we need is a youtube of you wiring then unwiring a single button this way versus someone with QDs.
I can’t see how this would be quicker or more effective than QDs which work in all kinds of electronics.
