So recently ive been intrigued to build gundam models. i have built some in the past, but they were all high grade models. I just started working on a master grade model of first gundam (0079) any tips that you fellow builders have feel free to let me know.
follow the instructions?
RPG’s, mmorpgs and model building…what next, d&d gaming sessions at the comic book store, and Magic card trading at Barnes And Nobles?
Use jizz to hold the model together.
^lol i used to playing D&D, and magic. Magic cost to much to play, and the last D&D crew i played with ruined the whole D&D exp. for me. But building models in my spare time is fun. its something fun to do to pass the time, and something thats also awesome to lok at once its finished.
take over space colonies
Get high, the time will fly and it will all make sense.
Built my first 2 Gundam models high in the early AM when I failed sober during regular hours.
It was a great time over 10 years ago. Haven’t built one since.
listen to 0079’s op on loop, while building?

i just recently started again too
i would say to really follow instructions closely. thats the problem i seem to hav
shave excess plastic off the part from the modeling tree. it’ll make it look so much better
how serious are you about building? most gundam kits MG and up look fine out of the box, but look awesome if you go out of your way to paint them. I typically fall somewhere in the middle. I’ll highlight panel lines with a gundam pen, and color certain areas with gundam paint markers.
-
when highlighting, you can go nuts and just erase any excess with a regular pencil eraser.
-
cut parts off of the tree with clippers / wire cutters, and cut the rest of the plastic protrusions with an x-acto knife. sand the rest down with fine-grain sand paper.
didnt know u could erase excess paint with a regular pencil eraser
this is my first MG kit. i plan on getting a panel liner soon. i also may get some gundam paint markers. but im def not going to be doing hand painting, dont think i have the skill set for that. i have been using my x acto knife to get rid of the extra plastic on the model pieces. it works really well.
Just be careful. Nothing really different between models, even up to Perfect Grade. Just takes longer times.
No idea if anyone else did this but I used White-Out as a basic surfacer because most Gundam parts are white.
^ what do you mean by surfacer ?
Something that covers holes and ends.
When I first started building, I didn’t realized that just twisting off the parts would damage the model plastic. When I went to paint an old one I had, it has slight scratches everywhere. I heard from my CS teacher at the time that White-Out would work to cover the scratches up. Once I let the White-Out dry, I sanded/rubbed it down then painted it.
curious what mg are you building
Shiiiii, couple of hundred grand atleast
