Tips on building gundam models?

get some sand paper to shave down the pieces after you snap them off.

only real advice you’d need is painting wise…still never learned how to paint them correctly.

Depends? Are you building the 1/100 MG’s or are you into the PG or NG models? Cause if you’re SERIOUS. Then I suggest getting some krylon paint for the best I believe it bonds with it at the molecular level so you get a real nice finish. Start off with buying a few snips and getting yourself a box cutter or an x-acto knife to cut off the left over “pegs” , “wedges” whatever you want to call them. Or you can do what maxx says and buy sand paper.

For painting you can try to find the exact color combination translation, and get that paint or you can freestyle it. Just get some long sticks and a piece of good Styrofoam so you can have somewhere for your pieces to sit while/after you paint. Always start off with a good white base coat, then you can begin to paint over whatever. Just follow the general rule of all model building

Be careful and don’t force anything together, more often than not you’re just putting it together wrong.

Shit, I do this everyday and don’t even fuck with gundam models.

Cool tips ZeonTheUnborn, but the combination of your name and and post made me lol.

you dont need to buy the official gundam markers to panel line. i use a micron 005 which you can get at michael’s, aaron bros, or any other arts and crafts place for a decent price.

for cleaning up smears, i usually use a magic rub eraser.

Yeah, buying the official gundam markers are cool and all, but if you want a super professional finish just go ahead and buy the paints. Panel lining can be a pain. So I use either a super small paint brush or the end of a paint brush with some dark black paint. Gray doesn’t really show up that well.

I wanna pick up a lil Gundam building up again here and there. Looking to pick up an MG Gundam Unicorn model.

I don’t think I’ll need any actual Gundam markers for this model in particular since it’s mostly white and all the colored parts (red) are just included already. Most likely going to need a new X-octo knife and outline marker.

this model is badass. im gunna have to try and find this one. thanks for the tips everyone. yeah im not really gunna do any painting. just panel lining, and coloring in some of the spots from breaking the plastic of the model pieces.
