muscle memory guys it’s all about muscle memory and rhythm one thing what always works for me is turning off sound of game only watch the graphics and listen to the rhytm of me hitting the buttons when i get the combo right ingrain that rhythm into my memory over and over i can hit sbk combo about 90% now not 100% but with more practice it becomes natural and consistency will go up
I came up with a mental trick to be more consistent with Alioune’s flashy corner combo (instant air lightning legs, cr.lp, st.mp xx EX fireball, cr.mk xx mk SBK)
When you hit the cr.lp, keep holding down-back for an extra moment while it connects, before going for the neutral st.mp xx EX fireball. (hold down-back slightly longer than you think you should)
I’m superstitious that the extra moment of holding down-back causes the neutral st.mp xx EX fireball cancel to register more consistently-- and not strictly because of my input execution.
I got one more question, as I was watching replays of egRickiOrtiz (stalker game very strong >.<) I couldn’t help but notice that most of the time she was canceling into LK SBK for her bnb.
I’ve been trying to practice with MK SBK rather than LK… and so i was wondering, is she doing the LK version simply because it is more consistent or because LK is the bnb and MK is not possible without other factors (i.e: counter hit, v-trigger)?
the only times she went for MK SBK (in the limited amount of replays i’ve seen) was in V-trigger or after a counter hit, and the combo was cr.LP, cr.MK, MK SBK.
any help would be appreciated, also mind if i look any of you up for replays and stuff?
Hey y’all. Just wanted to say that the motion for Instant Air Legs is 23696+K. Don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention it here yet, but it is the most efficient motion.
Yeah prob for the additional stun. Although I understand the timing I’m not consistent enough with the combo to use all the time. So most times I cancel into lightening legs. I’m still working on the muscle memory and haven’t been playing online that much lately due to some arthritic issues with my hands. You can look me up if you want though. My fight ID is BlackReign.
It’s because LK SBK is easier (and thus more consistent). The stun, the positioning, the outcome (oki/pressure/knockdown/setup/etc), is all the same. The only difference is that you give up ~10 damage. MK SBK works when LK SBK works, but LK SBK is easier. I’ve even seen Sako use LK SBK atm.
MK SBK is superior though, but MK SBK is a 1 frame window to get it right (and no, the 3 frame buffer window does not help in this combo), it is a legit 1 frame window to get your charge and to link the MK SBK. LK SBK is easier, not because the charge time is faster (it’s the same), but because LK SBK comes out a lot faster. So even if you do it too late, it will still combo. Whereas MK SBK would simply get blocked and you would eat a counterhit/crush counter punish… the risk is not worth the extra 10 damage (especially not in tournament setting), unless you are an execution God. I think at the moment only Alioune uses MK SBK, because he does not give 1 fuck lol
I too have been trying to get st.mp, cr.mk xx mk sbk more consistently. I’m starting to get there. It’s all about how well you plink mp ~ downback. It’s getting to the point where I can tell whether I got the charge just by the feeling of that plink.
I personally hate long stays in training mode, but I’m tired of ending my combos with legs. Currently, I’ve been staying away from ranked and grinding training mode instead. Thankfully her TK Legs motion is very similar to the way I did Juri’s TK Dive Kick, so that felt more natural from the start.
started to pick up Chun-Li and struggled with the cr. lp -> st. mp -> cr. mk xx mk. sbk timing at first, too. But, I get them somewhat consistent now (after 30 mins of training mode). What I found to be very distracting is the fact that you charge the downward motion so early that the character is still in the st. mp motion. When I stopped looking at the character for visual cues and changed my focus to the hit counter, it got a lot more consistent. I don’t know, if that’s for everyone, but I find it a lot easier to get the timing correctly, if I don’t look at Chun while doing it. Might as well help someone else
make sure you begin your charge right after you hit the st.mp. and then practice canceling the cr.mk as late as possible and hitting the sbk RIGHT after the cr.mk. (now you don’t have to hit the sbk right after, but i find it helps me tune my timing by making sure i don’t have any leeway. and it helps getting the mk sbk since the cancel window is not as large)
