Time to go to work, guys! Dante team building thread

I got some weird shot loop extension with Strange (If you watch my scrubby channel you can find it in one of my FT5) that does around 550 pre hyper, and carry neatly corner to corner. I think I drop it in that match.

Dante can get around 500 from any confirm-able situation if you go for decent combos (I mean NOT cold shower after Hammer starter and such). I actually plan to do some compilation video for my team, mostly for my practical stuff, but it will take a while till I get my hand on a proper HDMI capture card, don’t hold your birth for it.
After full FoF loop you can’t really get much of a DT combo as the scaling is ridiculous at that point, can’t Cold Shower, can’t call Wesker. I could only get Beehive ground bounce into Stinger BC something.

I want Dante to have hyper like Ryu, and do Million Dollar upward.

My troll/scrub team , Chris/Dante/Phoenix , you really need to use this team is so fun and you can use it as long as you know how to play Dante, Chris and Phoenix require like 2 or 3 days at max both, you build meter like hell without TAC and is good, you can even use Phoenix with Jam Session in case you want to tag her out and have 5 bars, and is so good, there are better teams but if you want to have fun or troll some people this team is great.

Finally i got my main teams, literally everyone loves Dante , is so easy to build teams with him in there and also are incredible great :Task/Dante/Felicia Dorm/Sent/Dante Dante/Vergil/Hawkeye

Sometimes i mix them up but normally that are the sets i am using now, working on Morrigan and trying to find good Soul Drain loops with Jam Session so i can put her on a team.

For the longest I’ve been (and still kinda am) extremely indecisive about who to run as x in Mag xxx Doom(missiles). I’ve pretty much decided on Jam Session Dante (though dunno if I’ll ever fully drop Morri or Dorm here, hehe). The team is incredible, and I’d be happy to rap about the strategic specifics all day, but I have a tactical question for you guys:

Dante, like Morri w/ Astral and Dorm with Flare and Vergil with Swords, gives Mag the safe tag-out option of Shockwave xx DHC DT. And like the others, this lets Dante come in with a momentum, on his own terms, and able to “set up shop.” That said, if we assume they block the Shockwave and are pushed full screen, what sort of zoning/lockout patterns do you guys recommend in this situation? I assume Hysteric comes first, likewise we could call missiles then Hysteric. However I’m wondering if we might want to hold the missile call either to use later in our lockdown, or to preserve the option of a Disruptah crossup (the existence of this option being one of the many reasons I’m in love w/ this team).

What do you guys think? My style/approach is always predicated on characters and strategies that can go all in on either rushdown OR zoning to suit their purpose (both Mag and Dante are quite talented at both), though in this case I’m angling a much more zoning/keepaway-heavy Dante. Missiles are sick for this, obviously, and I’ve def been studying VX Dante.

Doom with Missiles! I mained Dante Mag Sent back in vanilla (back when I actually stuck w/ a team lol) and I kinda like the comes-full-circle poetry of ending up back on Magneto Dante a year later. But in ultimate I think Doom and Missiles are mostly superior (though a case can certainly be made that Mag prefers drones if your style is more rush-centric). I recommend missiles-Doom not just because I’m playing it myself, but because it seems like you really liked your existing team, but just not the anchor Sent part. Anchor Doom isn’t exactly the bestest, but I think that swap would be the closest thing to getting to do what you already enjoy doing while also getting an extreme overall power upgrade.

Given the above, I was curious if you’d decided and, if so, if you went the Dante Mag Doom route. I do recommend Mag first here unless you have Dante first for very specific reasons. Certainly Dante first isn’t a grave error or anything, I just think Magzy has stronger game at “FIGHT!” But yeah, since you and I both had this team as a top contender after some soul searching, wanted to both offer and ask for comparison of notes

Though admittedly my Dante combo-ing is pretty weak, so I just go with basic shit and usually expect to need 2 combos to kill a healthy character. Though do note a corner Million Dollars DHCs perfectly to Temptest (and then into Sphere Flame). Even though I run Mag first, I’ll often TAC to Dante then DHC back to Mag, making the above still relevant. <shrug> If you’ve got a Dante combo w/ this team that isn’t executionally back-breaking but falls a little short of a ToD, I’d love to see it, since it would almost certainly be a damage upgrade for me lol

You should consider Lasting blocking hyper -> DT -> ublockable with low assist
(I will upload soon something like Strange H Teleport -> j.H (blocked on the ground) -> SoV -> DT -> call Wesker + box jump j.M/j.H -> profit)

I think dorm might be able to do it, and the classic Trish.

team of choice: Magneto (Disruptor) Frank West (Shopping Cart) Dante (Jam Session) great synergy, ability to level up frank, magneto has two assist backing him up and Dante is a viable anchor, quick question, anyone know how to Dante’s teleport where he lands in front of the character instead of behind them? I find myself always teleporting behind whilst using Magneto’s disruptor but I was wondering if anyone knew how I could teleport in front of them?

I use Sentinel when i do that, or Task Vertical Hyper Arrows, though with Sentinel it is a lot easier, with Dorm it works if you force them to block Meteors(1D2C) to prevent them from going to the air then Stalking Flare>DT, it also works of Chaotic Flame , but with Stalking Flare is more easy to do when you are far because it is annoying as hell and lets you set an unblockable very easy if they stay in the ground, or just fire Thunderbolts like crazy if they try to avoid it by going into the air, and with Trish is easy as hell.

Dante has only one teleport the times it teleports in front is because sometimes an assist pushes the enemy like Arrows or Beams , and because when you teleport you are tracking the position of the opponent at the time you disappear, but after you reappear the opponent is not in the same position, so you appear in front, actually if you can set it up it could be quite useful, because nobody expects Dante to appear in front.

Some combos I recorded of that team recently (sound out of sinc)

my Magneto is garbage, and so is my Doom.

and my Dante

Thanks bro

I agree that Dante shouldn’t be played on point in most cases over someone like Mags, but I need to step up my Dante play so I can play Zero/Dante and not just Zero/Jam Session.

I ended up playing Dante/Mag/Doom just because I feel I needed those assists, but I do feel Dante/Dorm/Doom is an easier/better team overall, just because Dante is so self sufficient that he doesn’t need assists too hard, and hes certainly sufficient enough just with Missiles.

The combos I do are pretty executionally backbreaking, I go for volcano off of hard knockdowns, shot loops whenever I can, as many sky dance ground bounce resets as I can and typically just avoid TACs because i’d rather just set up decent oki than risk them breaking ( for a lot of reasons, mostly because im focusing on upping my Dante play, not winning here ), and I dont believe you can do long meter building combos and still fit in a TAC. Im a lab monster with Dante so I tend to stay away from the simple stuff. Sadly you don’t really get rewarded with damage by doing that, just meter.

I would consider maybe running Plasma Beam over missiles just because I really hate how little durability I put up with Dante on the screen, and PB makes my neutral chip setups a lot easier and safer to run, although my DT+Missile corner traps produce some god-like chip. I really want to learn Strange just so I can put more durability on the screen and still keep missles. I believe bolts is 8+8 so 16 durability on the screen, and people really love to duck bolts which makes them free to some box-dash overheads, not to mention they’re on the screen longer so I can run better mixups.

Magneto has better point game, but Dante gives more to a team; after saying that i prefer to use Dante/Dorm/Sentinel, Dante is great with Missiles but it is not as good for him as drones, and you need to start your offense with Dante as good as you can because if you let him die and Dorm comes in he is not that great at building momentum, Drones gives both Dorm and Dante teleport mixups and Drones only hits 3 times so it will not affect your scaling as Missiles if your opponent gets hit with that, but this IMO because it gives you both the option to Rushdown and Keepaway , but if you are more interested in keepaway Missiles is better, because yeah DT Thunderbolt and Missiles is annoying and cheap because it cannot be pushblocked, the problem is that you are not building meter, and that could be bad if you waste it all, i recommend if you are using drones or Missiles to use the liberation assist for dorm, the empty one lets Dante easy combo of an airthrow, and if you magae to get one full loaded you can kill anyone with one shot of that in a combo, you will be surprised how many spells you can build when having one of those assists.

Dante/Morrigan/Doom is going to be one of the end game teams, you basically can do like half chip with DT and Missiles(i love that it cannot be pushblocked) and thanks to Morrigan building meter assist you can be in DT like half of the match and still have meter, and with Morrigan if you are in AV you can steal like 2 or 3 bars with both Jam Session and Missiles.

Can I get someones opinion on my team? It’s Dante (on point) with Jam Session, Chris with Gunfire, and Akuma with Tatsu. I thought I had something with Dante and Akuma in the corner, but I guess it’s not really worth it.

Doesn’t sound like much, the two assists have more or less the same purpose (horizontal), and Chris really need a team built around him to make it work (or at least that how I feel about it).

I might give a try to Dante/Morrigan/Strange or Morrigan/Dante/Strange, heck I should even check the “Chris G wrong twin team” with Morrigan/Dante/Strange, although dhc to DT is nothing compared to swords.

There’s nothing wrong twin about Morrigan/Dante especially considering Morrigan can use jam session to basically replace hidden missiles and shut down other hidden missile users. Especially with bolts at the end.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I like Chris, but I feel limited while using him. I think I’m going to replace him with Dorm or something. I kind of want to build my team around the sexiest Demon Hunter alive.

Use Chris/Dante/Akuma and then you will thank me later, Jam Session is too good to not use it, you can keepaway very easy a good portion of the cast just by throwing grenades and calling Jam Session , and put Chris assist as Boulder Punch, it is great for Dante’s combo extensions and you have a better neutral assist in the form of Tatsu, so no point in using Gunfire.

Thanks for the response. And yeah, you’re right. I was using GF for mixups, but I can see the combo potential with BP. Thanks again.

Do you guys know any players with vids that play Dante/V/Strider? most I’ve known seem to have moved on to a diff. team or mostly play twins/horizontal. I would like to see how others play it.

Also Dante/Strider is so stupiddd as most already said, I went into the lab and things like Jam session + strider confirms are crazy good tools to abuse. Confirms of errthang. I wish I practiced that team for more then a solid week before going into a tourny X_X

Dante cannot hope to extends combos with dhc like Vergil stupidly does.

just an fyi on something that i never remember until it happens to me in the middle of the match and makes me want to slap myself:
during xf, vajra speeds up. a lot. the timing for some things becomes very tight in xf1, and outright impossible in xf2. also impossible in xf3, although for a different reason.
off the top of my head, jam ses/vajra will not work in xf2, and will only work in xf1 if they’re at jump height or higher (though you probably won’t be doing jam session much when they’re on the ground anyway.) stinger>reverb/vajra can work in xf2, but you have to delay the assist call by as much as possible; easier said than done when you’re in the heat of battle.

hey guys. i think i’m finally about to bite the bullet and pick up dante to help out jill. the order will almost certainly be jill/dante/??? and i’m 95% sure i’m giving dante jam session so the big question is “who should anchor this team?”

the early assist candidates are drones, shopping cart or vajra, although the latter is repetitive for jill unless i switch dante to gunfire. unfortunately i’m really not up to playing any of those 3 characters tbh, but if you convince me of incredible synergy i’ll reconsider. i figure doom beam or missiles work but im not a fan of anchor doom. i actually play a decent felicia who everyone always says has good synergy with dante but im not really up for unblockable stuff. i want to have momentum in the neutral game as much as possible because jill needs to be in your face constantly despite having no projectile, and for a while my dante is going to be incredibly mediocre.
