Why is Rose such a busted character? LP Dive doesn’t work if she backdashes right next to you, lol. Also, is there any character that Hakan actually wins over in the air? Swear to god, if you’re jumping with Hakan, you’re doing something wrong. So far I’ve yet to win over ANYONE in the air! :<

Next, the Abel matchup: You can’t use specials if he’s standing up since TT > All of Hakans moves. Don’t use F.MP, don’t use F.HK, don’t use F.HP. F.HP works as meaty thou.

Seth: LP super doesn’t work against SRK. A move that’s supposed to be invul against hit doesn’t work against Seth. Neat.

Cammy: if she goes for her command grab, hold down but don’t punish, zero recovery on it so no use. Don’t try to AA her cannonspikes, BDNC them.

Bison: If you block his EX crusher in the corner, NEVER PUNISH IT WITH SLIDE. Bison can just casually grab you out of it, best bet is to jump. Its -16.

While we’re talking about Sakura, should we try and come up with somekind of a guide for her so that others can read? We have plenty of info atm and I have a bunch of experience against Sakura too, I just need to know what to write etc.

Another thought I have is if we perhaps should make a new matchup thread; nothing big, just a copy-paste of the first page with some updates to each matchup so that they’re up to notch. I also want to add a section with new setups, like a Samurai Drew setup section and so on. Watcha think? I could also chime in on the Gen and Sakura section since I’ve been playing against the top Sakura and Gen player for awhile now. Thoughts on this?

So Guys today I could see the difference between me and a proplayer, and it is pretty damn high, when I played him I already had played almost 60 matches so I was already mentally tired but I could realize some stuffes in the Abel match.^^

I would like to add stuffes in the Abel Matchup, as Drew said focus is the best option for Hakan when oiled, but a good Abel will have patient until the oil is gone, and even the best Hakan will be Dry sometime in this matchup, so in that situation put oil is risk, cause Abel can be in a position that can punish oil shower attempts and remain safe because long range pokes are unsafe, in that situation, the battle resume in counter pokes and reaction, Abel Stepkick can be counter poked with cr.LP buffered in Slide, use cr.MK buffered in slide is good too in case he try enter in the step kick range with dash. F.MP and F.HK are risky, because he can punish when whiff and this punish can be really painful. Example: F.MK Dash > Cr.HP > Ultra 1. When blocked he can TT those pokes if they arent use in the max distance, and use they in that way is difficult cause they are move pokes, and the distance change when Oiled. But St.HP, cr.MP, F.LP and St.MP are really good for make him respect you in different distances.

Another stuff, arc jump jab with Abel is damn good against Hakan guys, someone gotta try this later, but I fell some kind of problem anti airing this. Another stuff that I do not find in the Drews Guide is the fact that normal TT is totally invunarable to grab , but I could had missed this, so he can avoid some DDT setups and tick thows and can grab our Ultra1 ~~ this is really mind fuck man.

Another stuff that I do not see and it is pretty damn important is the Armor cancel ability, this stuff is pretty damn good but recquire a really good execution ^^. With this Abel simply do not allow OS’es I guess this deserve a note in the guide. This match is pretty damn interesting, I will lookout for a runback with him and try came with new stuffes.

Obs: I realized why is important have a lot of DDT Setups. Maybe the “Just Do It” attitude is a really good choice, unfortunetly is not my way to play, got look out for enlarge my style. This is it, allow me to know yours thoughts, and as always forgive my grammar mistakes.

Rufus update: Rufus’s early, late and mid J.HK beats all of Hakans air normals. Best bet is airthrow. S.LP into the crossup doesn’t work, EX snake beats it.

Deejay is going to try and get in on you one way or another. The two jump in moves he will use will be his command knee and his crossup j.mk. If you’re unoiled, fwd+mp will beat both of these. Make Deejay frustrated by punishing his jumpins with this move. If oiled, you can parry without worrying about a reversal. After you stop his jump in attempts, he will probably switch to getting in my using special moves.

Doesn’t work, lol. F.MP whiffs.

note on Abel:
normal TT = invincible to throws
ex.TT = invincible to attacks

This matchup is DDT setup all the way, worse than Geifs match up LOL.
And if player gets random TT or become smart and c.normals, then start your safe jump setups.
Occasionally just safe empty jump and Rocket if he start doing wake up ex.123 (1 armor tank).
If you are oilded, and blocks the first hit of his normal/ex.123 move, just twist Rocket for Punish.

Also safe slide into n.jump is good bait as well. If you are good with safe slide, you can do b.dash after contacts, which works well in this match up too.

Depends on distance, but not really viable to punish wheel kick air-air.
If you must, i think f.lp will stop this move time to time.
But more so, block and punish.
Unless he uses perfect lk.wheels that hits at the edge of contact, otherwise its all punishable by f.lk > hp.sliding, oiled rocket & lk/mk.dive.

In a higher level play, you really dont want to be knock down by Abel.
But I feel that Hakan can score a knockdown faster & easier than Abel due to oil start, so seems to be in favor towards Hakan at the start.
In mid-game, play some distant, oil, and go in again when ready/opportunity comes.

Yeah man, I guess I should abuse DDT in this matchup.

Just a note, I dont think safe slide n.jump is a good choice, he can anti air you easily with HP, and start a mixup from there as Hakan can do, so I guess backdash is a better choice. I will try this later, I need explorate safe slide setups more. Thanks for the tips.

ditto on Abel’s s.hp AA if they are good players.
Its all about mix-up and choices though, so if they always try to TT you then this would be great sometimes.
another alternative is b.j.mk, i also use it for last pixel finishes.
works with a tight empty slide too, its good choice to finish off sometimes. :slight_smile:

I sincerely hope that Capcom balances SSF4 again sometime. They need to make it so that you can’t grab slides. :confused:

You can’t jump in against Akuma btw, cr.HP blows everything and you can’t jump against him either since his air normals > yours. F.LP or BDNC as AA. You also can’t use super against ex tatsu, it hits you from behind. Letsu u go capucomu! You can’t grab him either, CL.MP > grab

Update on the Ken matchup: You can’t jump against Ken, air tatsu beats all of your normals in the air. And you can’t reaction super on SRK’s, he flies above you since Hakan has to move during his super. His airtatsus can punish LK oils from fullscreen and can hit you in the air from anywhere in the air, meaning that you basically can’t jump against a Ken that knows how broken his airtatsu is.

Sakura update: Crossup J.HK doesn’t work on her if she goes for wakeup U2.

Blanka update: If he goes for empy balls into lightning: don’t punish it, you’re too slow. Don’t try to FA U1 as it recovers, you won’t make it.

i have been working on a hakan matchup list for the past few weeks. i will be posting it as soon as it is complete (it will probably be a while longer). my plan was to make this the official hakan matchup list but i would like everyones input.

btw, i hate the gen and sakura matchup with a passion.

Juri Update: You can’t jump in on her, PERIOD. Her AA beats everything so don’t jump. Just beat Juri by not jumping at all cause she can punish all of your jumpins from midscreen. FA and go in.

So guys I have some new tech in the Abel matchup.
When Hakan is oiled he has a great choice to deal with Abel FWD MK > Dash pressure, after using this Abel players can do, throw, TT, Cl.HP, cr.LK and LP blockstrings, or try to bait it one EX Oil Rocket with backdash or nj, usually backdash is a nice choice to get out of all these, but another option I found is BDNC with some 4 frames normal Hakan has, when you do this you can get out of his pressure and start yours, this option beat the situations below:
FWD MK > Dash, Throw
FWD MK > Dash, Cl.HP
FWD MK > Dash, TT

It is really hard to do this against TT, there is some kind of “perfect time” that beats this and all other options but it is really hard to make consistently but Abel players tend to do regular throw and cr.LK and cr.LP blockstrings. I think it is a tech that is worth use.

I’d like to give some infos on the Vega matchup since i play one of the best European’s Vega daily and i know what he can do and what he can’t.
First of all you CAN grab Vega out of his roll,don’t use the command grab,just the normal one.Usually when Vega doesn’t have meter he will try to link the roll to get some cheap damage,that’s the moment you are looking for. Practice a lot the timing but once you get it the roll will not be a problem anymore.
Second if Vega is jumping don’t try to jump too in hope of grabbing or MP-ing him out of the air. Seriously ,all his air normals will beat you,and his jump is too high. Also if you are on the ground don’t try to AA him,his j.HK,jMK,j.HP will beat clean everything you have,the best bet is ultra 2 at this point .
The only situation e good Vega player uses the Sky High claw is when they got an exe ,to fake the Flying barcelona and get you from behind. So be prepared to block the other way if you see him flash and jump toward you,once blocked it can be punished with the HP slide (or forward MP+ slide in some situations).
As for the flying barcelona ,you can CC it , but you CAN’T if its the super version. Hakan suffers that super too much,at this point your only options are a)Slide away b)Ultra 2 . If the timing of the slide is too late or if the Vega predicts it you’ll be grabbed …
As for the back flip,dont try to punish it with f MP imho,if he’s too near and does the short flip you will end up behind him and get confused,just try c mk + slide,remember to practice the timing,the flip has little recovery when you can punish it and its a tricky move .
Also Vega beats the focus pretty easily ,with all his jabs ,your best bet is to hit the focus when he jumps at you .
Vega’s weakness is that he can’t stand pressure very well,if you are attacking usually they will try to flip out,so watch out and punish,mix up your command grabs during the attack and remember that this matchup is about nerves,if you loose them and go wild on him you will mostly die.I do believe that this is one of the hardest matchups for Hakan so don’t worry if you get your ass kicked sometimes !

Bison update: You can’t cross him up if he has U1, it autocorrects. If you’re in mid range against Bison, its in his favor. You’ll have to neutral jump when you’re in that space. You can only go on the offensive when Bison moves forward cause his scissors are too much of a problem.

Blanka matchup is 8-2 in Blanka’s favor as long as he doesn’t use balls. Its that easy to win with Blanka, hold back and wait since his normals fucking shit on everything Hakan has. He can jump in for free until you have U2, by then he wouldn’t need to do anything since he can just hold back. GG, you can’t jump in on him at all. There is one space where the matchup is okay and that’s just outside lightning where you can hopefully grab him. He can do LP ball xx lightning - free. Since the guide doesn’t want to mention just how horrible this matchup is, I will. BDNC works 50/50 cause lightning can stuff it. Only normal that you can punish is his sweep.

Why the fuck isn’t cr.MK XX slide a god damn blockstring? Holy shit just how bad is Hakan? I thought it was bad enough that his fucking FADC was unsafe.

Ryu’s c.mk is safe on hit.

His cr.hp is -12 on hit.

Ryu players don’t casually toss out cr.HP thou unless they’re going for AA. You get my point thou, Hakan seems to have the unsafest normals of the bunch. Its just so annoying, you know?
