If the Crusher goes through you, punish it with c.mk into slide. If the crusher didn’t go through you, it was probably a lp Crusher and punish it with Rocket/U1.
Lk Scissor kick gives people trouble. After the scissor kick, Bison will usually do another lk scissor kick, standing HK, or Crusher. If he’s up close enough to get hit by a c.lp, do that. It will either hit him or you’ll still be in block stun and you’ll block the 2nd attack. If he’s too far away, just keep blocking because the HK can counterhit you or can try to catch his standing HK with a slide. Don’t try a slide when he’s close though. There’s no shame in just blocking, but watch out for the walk up throw. You could try going for a lk dive after a c.lp but he can jump out (cannot crouch out though).
False. If the crusher goes through you, slide. cr.MK doesn’t reach. And for the love of god, don’t press buttons when he’s doing LK Scissor kick loops. His buttons > your buttons. Always.
Jaguar Kick: This is a tough move to deal with. You can punish a LK and EX Jaguar Kick with Ultra 1 (You only have 1 frame advantage with the EX so you need to be perfect). Just don’t be frustrated if he starts abusing this move. You can also use standing HP as a counter if he gets predictable, but you cannot use it on reaction. There’s nothing wrong with just turtling against this move. Also, if his jaguar kick is short, you can also sweep on reaction. If you react fast enough you could also use towards+mp into slide on a short jaguar kick. If you’re caught off guard use the sweep though.
St.hp is amazing against neutral jumps, you’ll rarely lose. This applies really well in the corner, where the opponent might spend a lot of time against Hakan, st.hp just won’t get beat against neutral jumps in this situation.
By Oiling up. oiling up adds to the meter bar and also he can cance Oil dives. If the blanka is laming it out thats a perfect time to build meter/oil up. Also if I even see Blanka at mid screen and Im at the corner, I stop building meter and go on the defensive because of Amazon River run. You say you watch videos of the blanka players not spacing correctly, well a good hakan player knows the spacing of river run and knows when to stop building metter.
as a T.hawk main, this comment burns my soul. I know you said “Almost” however this MU is so damn frustrating.
Why would I not be standing in a position at all times to slide punish additional oil attempts/cancel oil dives though unless hakan is busy mixing me up(meaning I already messed up)? Point being both players should just be chilling back in that situation not doing anything super whiff punishable and trying to feel each other out, though hakan has the impetus on him to make something happen if he has the oil up because Blanka is too good at whiff punishing to make additional oil attempts viable unless he has already established offensive momentum. It’s not really that slide punishes oil/dive cancel, it’s the threat of it. I don’t need you to do those things for me to be successful, i just need you to not do them.
You don’t even learn anything playing it either. it’s so low effort for any reasonable skilled Blanka(like Octopus) that even if you win you made some sort of stupid guess and it paid off and is not a sustainable thing to build off of. T.hawk players should all have an alt for Blanka.
Holy shit you main T.Hawk? I might sub him for some of Hakan’s matchups. What’s your take on Hakan vs T.hawk? IMO unoiled Hakan loses to T.hawk, since Hawk’s vortex and tickthrows are unavoidable if Hakan doesn’t have oil.
Ive been maining Hawk since Turbo. However it switched to Hakan since Super. I still play with him though and the hawk/hakan matchup? I think its easier to me then the gief/hakan MU. Un oiled Hawk can give Hakan the business but at the same time, Hawk has to be in Hakans face to do damage. oiled, the match up is 6-4 Hakan. Unoiled the match up is 5-5. If this was super then the match up would be 6-4 Hawk (unolied), maybe even 7-3 and 5-5 Oiled.
I like the match up personally. I like to see what the hawk player is going to do. Online there are two different hawk players. 1# loves to Condor Dive too much and never Condor spires. 2# loves to Condor spire but doesnt Condor Dives. Offline and tourney hawk players are the real deal for the most part. they get it and you want to play them alot to get the EXP. back to online. #1 are easy to beat because if they CD, you can oil dive it, block it and slide or O.C.H them. hell, you can even air grab them out of it if you time it right. Since hes a big body, most of the Oil dive set upset us and mixups work on him. 2# thinks he knows the set up so he condor spires to hit you out of slide. you can still slide, just delay it. once you see the CS about to finish (or beter yet when you hear him say SPIre) slide/Fu on reaction. If yo slide first he can CS and then Typhoon you (if the CS doesnt hit). You want to train the hawk player to Tomahawk buster when yo in the air so you can OS OCH (perferred ultra here). You can use Coaster in this match up if you want to but I personally perfer OCH, it keeps him honest and makes him have to creep/walk to me instead of jumping (Hawk is an aerial grappler, you want to keep him grounded so you can punish him with FADnC and uncrouchables).
I think the info in this thread needs an update. I was against Balrog today and I can’t even oil up again him! He can just punch me out of it full screen! Don’t know what I can do.
What kind of punch are we talking about? FADC is very viable (unless he’s doing turnaroundpunch, which other players pointed out to me can be punished with U1) At least give us some more info. Jumping back against punches works well and if you have the meter you can do EX oil into CC to make it safer.
Hnnrgh, Rose vs Hakan is 8-2 in Rose’s favor. All she needs to do is CL.MK and its GG. Any good Rose player knows how much this destroys grapplers game cause as you know, that shit is airborn. Sure, spirals are punishable but any good Rose player will stop using it and just go in and press CL.MK.
I don’t know if you know this but CL.MK can be blocked. And when it’s blocked she isn’t at frame advantage. She is at 0 and you can grab her right after if she tries anything else.
Of course I know that I can block it, lol. What about if she does cr.MP right after? Wouldn’t that just slap you out of it? AFAIK cr.MP is 4 in startup?
EX Rocket starts in 3 frames so you will beat it. What’s hard to deal with is if she does two cl.mk in a row. If you are oiled you can FADNC it. Really in this match up you just really got to be good at teching throws.
So I should be able to FADNC xx cr.LK between two cl.MKs? Yeah I don’t have any problems with teching throws against Rose since its incredibly obvious when she’s going for one. I really, really haven’t played against a Rose that just wails away with cl.MK. Felt so hopeless, nomsayin?
Well, I think I know how to do it actually. I think its bf hk, but not sure. Basically if he’s ducking and charging, I can’t oil up at all. He can just punch me out of it full screen! He punch slightly upwards (not unti air), do you know what I’m talking about? If I do ex oil and cc, how the oil can last? I hope I’m wrong on this because ironing will make Balrog one of the toughest opponent for Hakan. I saw a video of wildcat playing against Balrog and even he wasn’t able to oil up!
