I can’t seem to counter Adon very well. I can’t zone against him at all. His J Tooth and J Kick are just a pain and I have trouble getting into any decent positions with him. Any advice?
Tiger Shots seem like a no-no. F.HK can catch his J Tooth, but the timing it so strict I can’t see this working very often, and I think it trades sometimes too.
Yeah, i was kind of thinking the same. I couldn’t find much of use to answer the matchup in that video.
And i aint trying to diss anyone, but really, im trying to find some sort of magic formula for the gen matchup and im loosing faith that it exists. Guess it’s really a game of patience and turtling to beatoff a good gen player, because hear me out on this:
Somebody said it was easy to AA gen because of his floaty jump. Im like “WTF? , gen has a floaty jump”? That godamn old man doesn’t jump… It’s more like a KOF hop. SERIOUSLY IT’S SO BLOODY HARD TO ANTI-AIR cause the jump IS SO FAST, even sometimes you wont be able to put out the s.hk because his double air kicks will beat it. And if you block it , you gotta guess the if hes gonna do the 2 hits high and then block low. Not to mention his ambigous jump in that you have to guess if hes going to crossup or hit in the front.
Seriously , i have to play so focused in that match, one miss timed fireball , one crossup blocked wrong will hit me for massive damage that it’s not even funny. The problem is that the gen i play against will not MISS ANY OPENING OR PUNISHMENT possible. So i really have to sweat my way to victory. Plus hes bloody patient and turtles alot and it’s like fucking impossible to reach a turtling gen with sagat’s slow speed.

you know, most of this wouldnt even have been a problem if only sagat had some good damage in his tu, making gen think twice about jumping in.
If your having problems agaisnt hakan with… sagat… Then YOUR DEFINITELY DOING IT WRONG.
It’s like 8-2 for sagat. He has almost NO OPTIONS if you rush him down.
Not to mention fireball tricks will fuck him up
The problem is more along the line of having shit meterless damage. You can’t keep him at bay if you dont have some good blockstrings and sagat has none good enough.
Id’ say the uppercut needs a small damage buff , a 20 damage for each level of uppercut would be enough , since ex TU still does good damage and comboable into u1.
Also AS is very usefull if you notice your oponent loves to FA.
But believe me , it’s a very hard match for sagat atm.
No. Sagat still beats Gen. Gen got nerfed way harder and it hurts him in this match. He also lacks that raw damage he used to have. He is pure gimmicks and his jump is now cake to AA especially compared to Super.
I find it hard to believe that it’s easy to AA him since i only manage 50% to knock him off with a TU.
And what do you do when a gen starts to turtle and play footsies with you? Cause i feel that most of his normals beat yours and one miss timed TS means free punishment and ONE HELL of a life drop if he he has some meter / super / ultra.
Well , i might be having dificulties because i have little experience in this matchup. But also because the gen im facing is just a goddamn hell of a player…
But EL, im just asking you to show me a video / a match ,of how exactly a super sagat beats a good super gen in this game.
The thing is just don’t see this match. Sagat and Gen got nerfed to hell. they have become really unpopular chars so it’s gonna be tough for you to really figure out this match.

It sounds like your being too predictable with fb’s there’s a decent adon I play regularly and I have a much easier time zoning him from full screen then rushing him down also when he goes for any jaguar just dp him it’s simple just read him well.

Sagat is listed as top or near top in almost every tier list and has placed well in several majors especially recently. Also come to NY where there’s a huge scene and try telling people no one uses him and that he sucks.

It’s a matter of relativity my friend. What pros are pullin him out in majors and stick with him the whole tourney? Who uses him without saying something along the lines of “eh, he’s still kinda fun I guess”. Also he isn’t top in any tier list. That’s just not true. He’s usually hanging around 12th-15th.
Look at nec results and while you’re at it ask LI Joe what he thinks of sagat, at evo I saw a lot of sagats and here in NY he’s not the most unpopular character. Sagat is high tier for sure. Clearly you’re out of touch with the major sf4 scene if you think public opinion on him is that he sucks.
Sagat is great/good against a lot of the cast…
But when it comes to the top-tier/popular tournament characters, Sagat is disadvantaged by a wide margin. Ie: Ryu, Balrog, Guile, Abel, Dictator C. Viper, Chun-Li, Cammie, Akuma & Dhalsim.
a good preemptive forward roundhouse will usually beat Adon’s jaguar kicks in my experience
NYC is one part of the scene. Albeit a big part, but there is a whole wide world to consider. Saying he sucks is a matter of relativity. I guess a better thing to say is why would you use him over the ten or so chars better then him aside from you just really liking him.
Yeah there were many Sagats at Evo. There were also many Sagats that didn’t place well at Evo. This doesn’t exactly support your claim that he is “good”. Then again my definition of good is pretty cut and dry and doesn’t leave any wiggle room. Good = top imo. This is merely interpretation and perception. I will not speak on it anymore because it’s what I personally think and no one will change my mind just like I can’t change anyone elses.
Also high tier =/= top tier.
