Tiers for obscure games

This.

I actually remember Batman and Wonder Woman being really good, she had like a homing dive kick of sorts iirc. It’s been awhile though I will admit.

Yes those were weekly random games tourneys we were doing with like 12-15 entrants per week. We had to stop due to the owner of the venue getting mad haha

One piece Grand Adventure tier list revised

Eneru, Kuro, Shanks, Mihawk, Don Krieg

Neither of those games are shitty.

both of those are better games than xiii even

Dude If I was down there, I would nerd at that game with you guys.

Wasn’t Karai far and away the best character in that game?

Someone asked for Primal Fury

top - Uranus, Cronos, Shenlong, Alice, Jenny
high - Shina, Uriko, Ganesha, Gado, Khoryu, Xion
mid - Busuzima, Bakuryu, Long, Yugo
low - Stun

this game got significantly less play that BR3 so the tiers aren’t as finalized, if anyone wants to add anything feel free.

WTF is Alice, Jenny, Shenlong, and Ganesha being that high? Are they that good and I want to hear details as why out of curiosity?

Shenlong, Alice and Jenny have been consistently good throughout the series great normals combined with huge damage combos.
Shenlong is pretty much a solid wall of rape his 66P elbow rushdown pressure is very hard to deal with, at first i thought PFs silly sidestep hurt him to much but it turns out it effected him less than most of the other cast.

Jenny is queen of the air think Magneto with titties and a controllable dive kick that makes yun weep, in PF she gets a command throw that lets her set up pretty much any combo she wants for huge damage and in hyperbeast she gets vampiric life steal on all of her attacks making her capable of some rather retarded comebacks.

Alice is good all round can rushdown or keep away great wall carry and wall combos with probably the best mixups in the game she has a very good jump in with her beast and can crossup quite easy.

Ganesha is surprisingly good at rushdown thanks to his hyperbeast which gives him hyper armour and the ability to chain specials together, he can also stay in hyperbeast permanently thanks to a glitch.

Uranus despite being severely nerfed in PF compared to BR3 should probably still be in a tier above the others.

Shina could possibly still be considered top but i think the nerfs + system changes hit her too hard.

Where are you getting this info from also dammit I miss this series soooooooo much now?

There was lots of info on the net regarding the BR series mostly japanese sites but sadly most have died/disappeared now, Lithography is the only one i know of that still exists http://lithography.jugem.jp/ there was some tourney footage floating round on the internets too but iv been unable to find it in a long time.

Other than that i still play Bloody Roar 3 on a fairly regular basis we have a small scene for it still with a few good players, we did play Primal Fury for a while but IMHO BR3 is better. overly simplified controls, lightguard during sidestep, more lenient air recovery and a bigger window of escape on throws/evade kind of killed it off for me.

News to me. How is this preformed?

Provided he never enters a nuteral state he wont revert to human, since he gets the ability to chain specials together in HB you can do 236p xx 236k xx 236p > endlesly, combine this with the hyper armour he gets in HB it makes it very good at locking people down the only real way to deal with it is get behind him so he has to stop and turn around ending the glitch.

Its best used after trapping people in a corner making it very difficult to escape.

BR3 is better for one reason.

Pretty much everybody is stupid. I’m down for games where 90% of the cast rapes you and your whole family like it’s their job.

Oh wow i always wonder how this game is compeittive. Glade to see my faves are tames. (Buggy low tier makes me smiles)

Some how I’m Not surprise by tashigi’s placement. Though I Like to know how the meta game is since the game does seem to have fair amount of mechanics to suite diverse style.

Tashigi just doesn’t have much going for her. She has some huge ass rewards but they are extremely risky. Beyond that she is insanely predictable which I am sure you have noticed. She is basically forced into using the red-burst in order to hold up to the other characters. Her red-burst is above average but still not as good as some other characters red-burst forms so she really just doesn’t have anything special. :frowning:

Buggy might be moving up. He has a lot of potential that I just think that the people I play with just haven’t been able to tap into quite yet. I’ve been trying to mess around with his Bara Bara Car with his wall combos. He is the only low tier character that have a positive match up against Robin as well.

dang need to play me some of this.

I think the main reason Eternal Champions on the Genesis didn’t become as big as it could have was because it was only properly playable on the six button controller which most people didn’t own, the brutal AI difficulty, and the less combo-centric playstyle compared to games like Street Fighter 2. Despite this, it had a very technical and challenging battle system behind it and each character could be amazingly effective with enough practice. Playing the game on an emulator has really helped me break down how moves and the technical aspects of the battle system operates, and revealed a lot of character quirks I didn’t realize as a kid. I’d like to put up some higher level player matches on Youtube someday.

Anyways, here’s my tier list:

Top tier:
Jetta- Phase + Resonate, mash kick buttons to victory. Blocking won’t help much against Jetta’s insanely fast mixups, and good luck to anyone trying to make a counterattack when she starts abusing that unblockable, semi-invincible crouching light kick. The only thing holding Jetta back from being completely broken is her weakness to jump-in attacks.

Trident- His Plasma Bolt is a large, fast projectile which can stun combo into his trident spin, which in turn stun combos into itself. The ridiculous damage output this can rack up means that a single stun by a good Trident player is often enough to KO opponents. His offensive power is excellent- almost on par with Rax- but he’s somewhat vulnerable to close range pressure.

High tier:
Rax- Mid-range pressure character with enough tools to overwhelm virtually any opponent. Highlights include an incredibly damaging standing heavy kick, ridiculous sweep range and an invincible projectile charge animation which can force an opponent out of any pressure string. However, his methodical attacks often leave him vulnerable to projectiles and sweeps.

Xavier- Like Midnight, Xavier has a lot of gimmicky, impractical specials, but makes up for it with amazing normals. The enormous range and chip damage of his standing heavy punch is enough by itself to lock down many characters, and his jumping heavy punch will knock anyone out of the sky. His main weakness is a severe vulnerability to sweeps.

Shadow- Smoke Screen and speedy projectiles can decimate anyone trying to rush her down, but as opponents adjust to her attack timings she becomes relatively easy to contain and counter. Shadow Mode renders her temporarily invincible and can quickly even the playing field at any level.

Mid tier:
Midnight- His specials mainly consist of a variety of powerful throws with varying characteristics, all of which are far more difficult to pull off in actual combat than they aught to be. Despite this, Midnight is great at getting up close and dishing out big melee strings, and is one of the fastest characters in the game. His defense suffers greatly at mid to long range.

Slash- Painfully slow and difficult to maneuver, but can be extremely effective against defensive opponents due to his ranged club pressure and unblockable stun attack. Has a command throw which can instantly counter a lot of pressure strings. Held back by the relatively low damage on most of his moves.

Larcen- Features good sweeping moves, the best anti-air in the game and a powerful projectile, making for an excellent defensive game. Unfortunately he’s a sucker for opposing sweeps and has an easily countered offense. In a game where huge pressure strings win matches, Larcen simply lacks options.

Bottom tier:
Blade- Issues include a huge hit box, horrible maneuverability, and a lack of decent antiairs. Has a powerful throw and heavily damaging melee combos, but it’s nearly impossible to get him in range consistently enough for them to be effective. Can theoretically beat opponents by distracting them with his laughably bad character animations.
