Tiers for obscure games

Whew, it’s finished for now.

Hyper God Tier (Banned)

Ivan Ooze: Quite possibly the most powerful character in fighting game history. I want you to actually think about that. Think about Zero in SvC. Think about Mags and Storm in MvC2. Gouki in ST. All the broken chars you have ever seen or ever known. And know that Ivan Ooze would rape all of them simultaneously. He only has a few moves, but they are all stupid. Fire pillar can otg, hits multiple times and can even semi-infinite. Spark punch has hella priority and blows through everything also setting up for OTG. Multi fireballs just throws a shit ton of plasma balls that home in on an opponent for huge damage and does alot of chip as well. Spark fireball beats all other projectiles, auto aims and hits multiple times. It can lock down some chars by itself. Invincible strike is just that. He charges up for a time while completely invincible then launches several fireballs that can set-up for combos. This move is just fucking stupid and can be done out of hit. Ivan Ooze is simply a monstrosity. He can’t be grabbed and he ignores hitstun. His attacks outprioritize everything except Thunder Megazord’s DP. He is unstoppable. Plain and simple. Here is a vid on Ivan ooze by Team Best From Now.

Top Tier

Ninja Megazord: He’s a ninja therefore he must be good. Just alot of good tools here plain and simple. Most of his specials are good. His energy ball dash attack does good chip, frame traps and leads to easy 50/50’s on block or his infinite where he just does the ball then goes into some some pokes then repeat. Or you can combo into a sweep for the knockdown and the wake-up game ensues. Spin drop is decent for getting in from a jump in and has decent priority. The AA version is solid AA. His flurry attack special has good start-up, combos nicely and has almost no recovery. He has an air dash kick that has good priority. His normals are good too. Solid pokes on the ground and good comboability. He is just easy to play with alot of utility and with an infinite to boot. Still the timing on his infinite is very tight, so it’s not too overbearing for his opponents to fight him. But he is still an amazing character.

Lypsyncher: Only has a few special moves, but she has comboability out the ass. Solid ground pokes and her note strikes are good for zoning especially corner lockdown. She rules the skies with air dashing and double jumps. She has an infinite by using j. d+lp or j.hk and jump canceling into more of those for a continuous air juggle. Her air combos aren’t hard. Just jump, do an attack, jump cancel and keep going. She is basically a guilty gear character. She’s all rushdown, pressure and combos and she’s good at it. She only gets her crazy combos off if she catches her opponent jumping though so a smart opponent will stay out of the sky, but even then she still has a good ground game to fall back on. She is great at what she does.

Lord Zedd: A defensive monster. Good normals and can teleport to any of the 4 corners on screen. The real kicker is he can do it on hit or block and get out of any pressure situation. Also works on wake-up as a reversal. Lightning Strikes are good zoning tools as well and ex versions travel for a bit before they leave the screen which is great for pressure because they reach up to the top of the screen. His super is great too since it’s fast, very strong and goes full screen and can catch enemies in the air too. Can also combo off ex lightning strikes while they are in hitstun.

Mid Tier

Thunder MegaZord: The shoto of the game. He’s actually really solid. Just not stupid enough to go higher in the ranks. Good jabs and his cr.lk is good poke and set-ups for combo into super. Has a dp that blows through all other moves. Also has a fireball for zoning and ex version shoots out multiple fireballs. Good combos and just a nice all around character. He can hold his own vs everyone thanks to his tools. His Super, Thunder Crash is among the best in the game. Fast start-up and does good damage and goes full screen much like Lord Zedd’s.

Goldar: Another shoto type but slightly altered. His normals using his sword are a bit slow and his jabs lack range. But he does have dive attacks that hit overhead and one of them leads to combos or frame traps. The other knocks down on hit. He can fly for a short amount of time and then airdash back or forwards then cancel the landing animation into a normal or a special. He has the other shoto tools like a fireball and a dp. His dp doesn’t have the level of priority as Thunder Megazords, but the priority is still very good. It’s also good for combos. His fireball isn’t quite as good either because it comes out at eye level but he has an air fb too. Air fb is a bit slow on start-up though decreasing it’s usefulness.

Shogun Megazord: Most people call him low tier. To that I say are you crazy?! He can’t be thrown!!! That’s pretty huge IMO. And he has crazy range and power. Who cares if he is slow? He can tank for days. Although certain normals doing chip damage does hurt him as well as zoning chars. Still with solid moves like Sword Cyclone and Fire Wave, Shogun can turtle with the best of em. All his moves have good priority too. EX Fire Wave is really nice. Beats out alot of stuff and does huge damage. He isn’t much for combos. He basically just wants to duke it out with his opponents and use his massive reach and power to his advantage.

Low Tier

Mega Tigerzord: He is on the slow side with only a few good normals and specials. Has a pretty cool fireball that bounces off the ground and rises at an angle. Good for zoning/lockdown. His fierce hk attacks have great range and priority which is his main saving grace. Other then that there is nothing noteworthy or remarkable about him. His tools just aren’t worth mentioning for the most part. He hits hard, but he lacks the tools to do anything with his damage.

Bottom Tier

Silver Horn: Just bad. Slow in attacking and a slow dash. Ground Pincer pops up where ever his opponent is standing which is nice. His super is a worse version of Thunder Megazords, but it’s still solid. Most of moves are crappy though and so are his normals.

Just finished reading the thread, interesting stuff.

Are there any major gameplay ( and therefore tier ) differences in KI:Gold? I know they messed with some frames of animation due to size constraints on the cartridge, but I haven’t found anything specific.

And does anyone have a breakdown for Clayfighter 63 1/3? I saw some quick comments on it earlier, will try to tier it myself though this weekend I guess.

How about that secret fighting game in Mega Man 7?

I’ll be checking out that YT account right now.

Megaman>Bass. He was shorter and has slightly better tools.
Here’s an in-depth description of Battle mode:GameFAQs: Mega Man 7 (SNES) Battle Mode FAQ by HeoandReo

Awesome list. I agree 100% with it. I played this game hardcore like hell with some friends a long time ago.

A few things worth mentioning:

Shred: True all of it. Multi punch i sbroken. Sometimes IDK why it is unblockable. Or sometimes you are blocking it and suddenly it hits you. Its aa as well. Turbo buttons should be banned cause just hitting B turbo does the multipunch without even buffering the normal punches.

Casey: No he doesnt have an inf but Air Spin followed with baton Flash = 50% on almost everyone.

Hot head: On the corner he can spam fire breath and if you block it you cannot get out of it unless you are hothead too (hothead mirror is a glitch but can be done) or casey with Baton Flash. Super is awesome.

Raph: Should be a bit higer. Remember that the speed of the game determines the blockstun the powerdrill does (lol weird but true). In hi speed he can use a blocked p.drill into bite attack. If you time it well you can do a semi crossup with the drill after the bite. Quite useful.

Awesome game, good memories hehe:china:

why is CvS2EO bad? Its essentially CvS2 but without RC.

Without going into any other details since I’ve only played EO like, twice… You pretty much answered your own question.

also the one button special thing made some characters absurd, although that’s not a tourney thing

… Does Mouse Generation have tiers? Is it even a real game?

Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Were you talking about that? Cause if you wern’t I can only imagine you meant a fighting game with mice.

Uh… Tobal#1 tiers anyone? I think the Emperor and Gren were the best. Could be very wrong though.

Yes, i’m talking about that. But I haven’t seen much on it other than one short trailer, and that three sentence blurb which is copy pasted on pretty much everything that talks about it.

Duel Toys 2? Anybody?

Kung Lao is top for sure. Hat Spin is 3 hits either on block or full hit and it can be done after a full chain at the corner UMK3 stile. Projectile is ALMOST unjumpable due to the arc it does.

Wait, that game is completed? I thought it was still in beta stage. Michael Jackson is in that game, where would you put him on the tier list?

Duel Toys 2 is not at it’s final version, no. I was just wondering.

Bloody Roar 2 Tiers

Played this so much as a kid. Was my fave fighter on ps2 by far. Not shitty at all actually. Solid game, I just didn’t know where to put it. This is mostly based on what I remember and I know alot of spots will be debated but w/e.

Top Tier

ShenLong: Six ring circle combos give him good mix-up potential and pressure game. He is a tad slower then Long, but makes up for it by having alot of guard breaks so he isn’t as susceptible to neutral guard side step as most chars are in the game. He also hits harder then Long. He can combo directly into his super on the ground which is great. He has some of the highest consistent damage output in the game and is overall a great char.

Gado: Very much like a Mishima, Gado combines explosive power with bursts of speed. It only takes a few combos to dismantle someone with him. He has several powerful single strike moves and safe natural strings that do good damage. Gado’s gameplay is quite basic and effective. He can punish mistakes for huge damage and if he side steps his opponent he can easily take around half life with a basic combo.

Shina: Her style borrows heavily from her father Gado. She doesn’t have as much power as him, but still hits hard with slightly greater speed, as well as more mix-up potential and more juggles/juggle set-ups. She has a very easy juggle set-up with db + k link to qcf + p. Then she can do a basic combo for good damage or combo into her super. She has a decent amount of guard breaks as well.

Long: Like ShenLong, his mastery of the six ring combination circle gives him solid mix-up potential and rushdown. He also has several good single strike attacks. He strikes a balance between good speed and good power making him slightly faster then Shenlong, but lacking the same amount of force and he also doesn’t have as many guard breaks. His super is very good though since it acts as a guard attack and a grab combined.

Uriko: Lacking the power of her master Long, she makes up for this by relying more on her high attack speed and has many more multi hitting attacks. She has several good poking moves and has an easier time mixing up opponents due to her speed and movement. She also has an easier time comboing into finishers from her six ring combo circle, which is also thanks to her speed. Her guard attack is one of the best in the game since she leaps into the air, so she can’t be grabbed or hit low at all.

Mid Tier

Bakuryu: Not many guard breaks in his strings makes him a little weak vs side step and his damage output is low. Still Bakuryu’s incredible speed combined with many safe strings gives him a great pressure game. He has natural mix-ups in several of his strings as well. He can be tricky with his movements and ability to disappear and reappear on-screen or in the air with an attack. His super is also a great punish since he lunges forward a good distance to do it.

Yugo: Similar to Long in that he combines good speed with solid power. But unlike Long he is lacking in natural mix-ups. He has some good pokes and overall safe rushdown though. But since he lacks good mix-ups he ends up being a bit too linear. Still his pressure game is great and his moves flow together seamlessly.

Jenny: She has great reach, good speed and good mix-ups. She is one of the safer characters in the game thanks to using her legs to attack. Her damage is average and ker K is one of the best pokes in the game. Her strings can be fairly long though making her a bit more susceptible to side stepping then most though, which is a problem.

Alice: Awesome rushdown. She has great speed, combined with the most natural mix-ups of any character in the game. She can easily keep an opponent off balance. Her damage is low though and so is her defense. She’s great if she can get an offense going and her opponent doesn’t get her off, but that’s her only strong point.

Busuzima: Tricky tricky tricky. That’s his claim to fame. He can catch people off guard pretty easily and can disappear as a Chameleon. Overall though his wild flailing movements tend to leave him open, and he can be very very unsafe. He tends to over commit to alot of his attacks and this leaves him wide open.

Low Tier

Stun: He’s actually not that bad. High damage potential and highest defense rating. He also has a decent mix-up game with his attack throws and has a combination grab up close that does good damage. His main flaw is that he is the slowest character in the game. Not just in attack speed, but walking speed as well. So controlling space is tough for him and he needs to make correct reads to get the win.

I loved this game so much as a kid and it’s actually aged really well. It’s on PSN right now if anyone wants to pick it up. Funny thing is I think my tier list is hella debatable aside from ShenLong’s placement and Stun’s. But I have always felt like the tiers were really congested in BR:2 which is a good thing.

been playing alot of ninja masters recently, probably been done but i cant be arsed to read through the entire thread.

Was a full tier list ever made for Matrimelee? The only things that I remember from this thread were that Poochy was broken and Annie was garbage.

This is from a different thread and was posted by 4649

Boss (Banned Tier)- Ranmaru, Nobunaga
S- Goemon, Unzen
A- Karasu, Sasuke, Kasumi, Kamui, Natsume
B- Raiga, Tennou
C- Houoh

EDIT: In spite of the tiers, pretty much everyone has broken crap in Ninja Masters, which isn’t surprising since the game itself is broken as hell

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

MK:A was yet another disaster by Ed Boon and his friends. Aside from the group’s usual lack of testing, they attempted to emulate and implement aerial combos as popularized by Capcom’s crossover Vs. series. During the first week of the game’s release, people had found out that you could launch your opponent into the air, engage in ā€œaerial kombatā€, and cancel the last hit of your aerial hit, which makes you fall to the ground immediately while your opponent is still floating in the air. Of course, because of the game’s abundant characters, this glitch, known as an ā€œaerial cancelā€, resulted in MK:A having hundreds of simple infinite combos. is an example. So, while prior flaws that existed in Mortal Kombat: Deception had been fixed, MK:A was as poorly designed as its predecessor.

Notable Tier List

God Tier Characters

 • Moloch
 • Blaze
 • Onaga

These three characters are ā€œtrue bossesā€. While certain other characters exhibit some ā€œbossā€ properties, these three exhibit all ā€œbossā€ properties within the game. That is, they cannot be thrown (but they can throw each other). They cannot be launched or juggled under most circumstances. Projectiles and other special moves have no effect on them. They deal a lot of damage. The only thing that separates them from one another is the actual tools, and Moloch clearly has the best collection of normal and special moves.

Aside from these three juggernauts, MK:A, being the pile of feces that it is, is not awfully unbalanced if you exclude its exuberant infinite combos.

Top Tier Characters

 • Dairou. Slowed down Tombstone Drop, but still the best special move in the game. Can catch jumping opponents on reaction and take away half your life in a very simple combo. Lacks range, but makes up for it by having lots of safe pokes and launchers. Zoning and turtle machine.

 • Drahmin. Has the safest, longest, and most damaging pokes of all characters and a throw that launches. Has some problems versus smart turtling opponents.

 • Scorpion. Lots of safe pokes that lead into guaranteed throws. His throw does a lot of damage too. One of the deadliest punishing moves in the game thanks to weapon stance f+1. Hell Fire is unblockable and good if you train opponents to stand still.

 • Sareena. She can throw her projectiles laughably fast. In fact, they make O.Sagat’s Tiger Shots look slow. She can throw them so fast that they can even lead to infinite combos on their own against some characters. Completely broken. Take a look . f,f+1 is one of the best punishing moves in the game. Very, very fast when buffered. Sareena lacks safe pokes and complementary tools for the knives.
