Tiers for obscure games

Tiers for first Bloody Roar. Tiers aren’t in order within their groupings.

Top Tier

Fox: Solid pokes, decent mix-ups, fast P strings, and nice range on K strings. He also has solid damage. All around good character. He has some tricks as well with his movement and fake out strings too.

Long: Six ring combination gives Long what he needs to keep people guessing with his mix-ups. Also has good range on combo starters and pokes. Has more guard breaks in his first incarnation then he does in BR2. His damage is good and his sweep combo ender knocks down on hit in this game, making his mix-up game more dangerous.

Mid Tier

Yugo: Good rushdown with balance between speed and power. Mix-ups are a bit poor though. He is very straight forward, but gets the job done.

Gado: Great power with several safe moves and strings, but many of his strings have gaps that allow opponents to block mid way which hurts his offense. He can still take anyone down with a few good combos or if he takes someones back.

Bakuryu: Great speed and can be tricky with his ninja moves. Good pressure game, but damage is on the low end though.

Alice: She has speed, rushdown and mix-ups but her poor damage and inability to take a hit hold her back.

Low Tier

Greg: Standard grappler. Lots of power, but often leaves himself wide open.

Mitsuko: A grappler, but slightly tweaked. She has more speed then Greg and a few more fast strings then him, but she too leaves herself open a fair amount of the time.

I don’t own a 360, otherwise I’d try it myself:

Anyone tried tiering Deadliest Warrior?

I heard the Ninja was too good.

Some of its right, but its more like this…

Top Tier - Long, Bak, Mitsuko, Fox
Mid - Alice, Yugo, Gado
Low (High?) - Greg

Bak does high damage and is a pressure beast. Combo into izuna drop does like 60% or more, easy and you’re right in place to pressure more. Mitsuko is otherwise mediocre but is up there because of her rave loop.

Greg is OTHERWISE low, but he has a bullshit throw loop in human form that is extremely difficult to escape (Its looks like you can tech easily but it weird for some reason).

See these two vids from UK player Khentimentiu for reference:

 •

Ah I didn’t know Bakuryu had consistent set-ups into drop. Yeah that changes things.

Tech: I dunno if you followed BR2, but if you did mind checking out my tier list for that game?

Edit: Just saw the vids.Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. Try setting those up vs anyone with a brain and it won’t work out so hot. If that’s all Greg has going for him then he’s in trouble and I actually already knew about that. Mitsuko can hit mid tier cuz of that imo but top? I dunno. If that’s her only way to set it up then I’m not convinced. Long and Fox are WAY more solid then her.

I saw your BR2 list; I actually can’t comment on it besides, Shenlong being tops, shina being good and Stun being low.

BR2 is my least favorite out of the first 3 BR games.

Hmmm why? I think it aged well the most. And is probably the most balanced IMO with the least amount of BS and everyone being pretty viable.

Apache Chief is top tier in Shittiest Warrior. Ninja and Spartan would round out the high tier. I don’t care to remember the rest of that shitty game.

Tiers for Pokemon Wild Type

A (unfinished) Japanese freeware fighting game for the PC with Pokemon characters. Version 4.3 was the last version released before the creator pulled a Houdini. Has Guard Meters, Supers, Assists, and you can use your PP (Special Bar) to use Protect which does exactly what it says. Is actually worth a look, although it’s unfinished. This list is assuming you aren’t using assists.

OverUsed (S)
Combusken- This thing is insanely good at rushdown. His Back-Forward Charge move is his main utility tool, and it is good. He can use it to cross the screen, end combos, escape from situations, whatever. His Down-Up move lets him hit projectile spammers and puts him close. His D,DB,B makes a good anti-air if you see them jump at you, and his D,DF,F is also a good combo ender. His normals are very good too, espically his kicks. His super is quick to do, instant, is a laser, and goes all the way across the screen. His range is short, however.

Borderline (A)

Lucario- Very damaging combo’s and can play keepaway very well. His spin move can buy him out of things, and his shoryuken is very nice. His push move is very useful for setting up combos as it causes wallbounce. His super is a laser and goes all the way across the screen, and his other super combos off of hits.

Gengar- Nice projectile game, nice counter, his hammer move can be used to escape and punish thimgs., and he’s tricky to keep where you want him. His super can put you to sleep and sets up for a combo or he can use Dream Eater, which does damage and recovers his HP. He has a chance to poison you if his dash punch hits. A solid character.

Blaziken- Can do VERY nice damage, but a few of his things are unsafe. His kicks are good combo enders and he can use flamethrower to work his way through projectile spam. Solid AA also. Super is another laser that goes across the screen.

Gardevoir- Very good keep-away character. Her projectile is fast, she has a nice (if slightly slow) teleport, but her main tool is her command grab, which is amazing. She grabs the opponent and throws them across the screen, meaning they have to get back in all over again. She can also combo off the grab. She can set a bomb-like thing near or away from her to put pressure on the opponent. Her super will grab you if you’re not blocking, and her other super heals her. Is very weak to rushdown and doesn’t have good AA options outside of a normal.

Breloom- He’s a situational character. He has attacks that work towards his goal; get the opponent in the corner to start a mixup game. His stretch punch has nice range on it, he has a nice shoryuken, and his tail slam is an overhead. His super is a fllury of punches and it is oh so insanely comboable.

Underused (B)

Snorlax- SLOW, unsafe things, and once again, SLOW. Is very strong though, and has very nice tricks such as his Body Slam and his charging punch, which has armor. His supers are, once again, another laser and a healing move (which is SLOW).

Swalot- He has a very damaging command grab and nice breath normals. That’s it.

you can start the mitsuko loop from any knockdown, also yugo has a rave infinite with f,f,P though its much harder to pull off

Yeah I knew about that rave infinite with Yugo too. Greg and Yugo’s shit seems much harder to set up. I mean good shit to them that they have that, but I don’t see them hitting top tier cuz of it. I will give Mistuko the nod though.

What do you think of the tiers in BR2? What are sum of the best combos and strats you found in that game?

the BR2 list seems fine to me, its been a while since i played BR2 so i cant really offer much sorry lol

Well, I don’t really know how you can say its the most balanced with Stun getting rushed down for free by just about everyone, having surprisingly average damage for being a “power” character and his qcf+B having a flaw (glitch?) where when the opponent is rammed into the wall they can tech (!) while stun is in recovery frames and attack you guaranteed.

Also Shenlong destroys everyone for free so…

Anyway, BR2 is one of those games where people let nostalgia color their experience of the game. Truthfully, the game is pretty lazy and has a rushed feeling to it. The throwaway music, the stuff like Stun’s qcf+B that doesn’t work correctly, overall its just incomplete. Not saying it bad, the art work is a lot better than the first, the new characters are nice and they added the ability to use beast moves out human in this one but its missing some polish overall and I honestly don’t feel its very fun.

Not sure how you say its more balanced than BR3 and its certainly not deeper than 3 either.

I don’t think ShenLong beats everyone free. He is monstrous of course. I mean he’s a buffed BR1 Long of course he is beast. But I think him and Long go pretty even and Shina too. Stun sucks I won’t front, but he’s a fuckin grappler I mean…this shit ain’t new lolol. They added more stuff to BR2 in terms of gameplay. Guard Break actually fuckin does something now other then momentarily stuns them. There are more cancel points in combos.

And Shenlong is STILL retardedly good in BR3 except alot of other chars are tops as well. I can’t touch on the music. I love the music in all BR’s and they all have that hard rock heavy metal feel. In terms of BR2 as a complete package I think they put the most effort into it. The art, the story mode, time attack and survival, hell even the fuckin announcer. It’s all really good. BR3’s engine is more polished and do like that the juggle system seems more fleshed out. In BR2 you don’t see crazy juggles really except from Shina. It’s a much more ground based game while BR3 is balanced between ground and juggles and I can appreciate that.

Milenna’s roll move can go into an uppercut and back into a roll. You can tech it, but if you guess wrong you’re screwed. Also Kung Lao is very good like Hanzo said.

A great fighting game would have a tier list of A- A A+ only.

In Dynasty Warriors 1, Lu Bu had to be S tier defiantly. Yeah the original was a fighting game, deal with it.

Tournament of Legends.

Marcus is top tier. Everyone else is shit tier.

Stupid statement. That’s just basically saying “Top Tier,” “Mid Tier” and “Low Tier.” Letter notations are, for the most part, arbitrary.

anyone remember Kakuto Chojin?

combatitribes VS mode
Streets of rage Remake VS mode(not a shitty game. Actually really good)
Nghtmare creatures(debug mode with the AI fighting itself)
