I don’t know much about GSC, since I got into competitive stuff during RSE.

Mauler needs to go up. Shot->Melee=incredibly quick combo that kills always. Best one-handed weapon in the game by far.
Assault Rifle needs to go down to low tier. SMG is better in almost every way. You waste an entire clip just to kill someone with both of them, but the SMG is much faster at reloading and can be dual-wielded for some added power.
Hammer is around the same level as the Sword, only it’s a bit slower and has to be sweet spotted a bit (lol?). It’s definitely not low tier.
Spartan Laser needs to go up. If the player knows how to keep a crosshair locked on to someone, it’s a guaranteed OHKO. Not an easy weapon to use, but it’s definitely better than low tier.
Anyone have tiers for Sonic R? Super Sonic seems ban-worthy broken, but I never really tried anyone else.
For Sonic R, I always thought of it like this:
Top:
Super Sonic
Metal Knuckles
Sonic
Metal Sonic
Mid:
Knuckles
Tails
Tails Doll
Low:
Robotnik
Amy
I’m not sure where that one other robot goes, since I never used him.
I like Sonic over Metal Sonic because Sonic can jump corners better, and I find that harder with Metal Sonic.
Metal Knuckles gets a great jump that can be used to abuse his glide.
Tails Doll is cursed, so screw him, but he’s alright because he doesn’t have to worry about water.
^^ ill co-sign
Sonic Adventure 2 battle
Speed
Metal Sonic -his only real flaw is his controls, with black shield negating attacks are simple unless you know when to attack
Sonic- sonic has a higher grinding speed than shadow
shadow- balanced
Amy- whoring out attacks with 5 rings but slow
Power
Dark Chao -slow but can take punishment and do damage
Eggman - balance
Light Chao -top speed so he dodges with ease but has horrible defense
Tails -seems to have a lower defense than eggman
Hunt
Tikal- faster speed and has great search sense
Knuckles- its knuckles
Rouge-
Zero- slowest character
your speed tiers are right except for one thing.
amy is beyond broken and deserves to be in her own tier.
her powers costing less rings is way overpowered due to being able to abuse suicides and checkpoints. her speed doesn’t mean a thing if you know when to kill your opponent with a power or when to use the time freeze correctly.
as far as the other modes, i cant really say since we exclusively play the speed levels.
RE: Halo 3 tiers
The Spiker needs to go up.
Pretty much covers it, Nidoking was also a good wall breaker in G3. Now he’s like UU or something…
Well Ho-oh and Lugia would automatically make your old team competitive, back then a lot of people went along something like an offensive Umbreon. Well those people who weren’t into the G/S competitive metagame, people then were just excited about eeve’s new evolutions. Because of that they were more offensive minded, even though Umbreon’s stats clearly favored defense.
As far as the team, probably then you could get away with it. But I dunno about now, especially if it’s an OU only metagame.
Well, I read that Smogon site like you linked me to; very interesting, makes me want to pick up GS again (do people still play that game?) but I hate Ruby/Saphire and onwards with a passion. Those games have no heart and lost what made the first and second generations so enthralling.
I read the Uber article and thier use, discovered Ho-oh isn’t used very much at all in the Ubers, which kinda doesn’t surprise me, back when I link battled, people used a lot of Mewtwo and stuff, I don’t even recall Lugia being used often either. So, I suppose I’m asking if my team is still usable if they didn’t have Ubers in it against a team of, say, OU or BL.
Oh yeah…tell me your team.
Well, since that generation had nothing of natures or the like, I guess it would have to depend heavily on movesets and just what is OU in G2. Against a complete OU team that’s well thought out? I don’t like your chances, but who knows competitive pokemon is pretty random, a critical hit here or there could instantly change the momentum.
Here’s the smogon G/S tiers for OU.
Tell me what team you use in G2, darn it. :woot:
Been a long ass time lol.
I think I went something like Snorlax, Gengar, Jolteon, Skarmory, Dragonite, and Suicune. But that’s if my memory serves me correctly. I do remember sticking a heracross or alakazam in there somehow, alakazam had a weird way of owning steel with fire punch.
Oh yeah, know I remember, I had Entei on my team sometime. I took him out because I had too many fire types…
Are you willing to pick up the game again?
I’d play it again, G/S was one of my favorite pkmn titles. I liked how unique it was, adding the entire kanto region + gyms. Plus pkmn trainer red still remains the top cpu controlled trainer, he’s on G2 Mt Silver.
explain yourself about Dutch. i fuckin hope you’re not referring to backjumping with kicks lmao - enjoy your millimeter of damage. Also, Lynn’s gun sucks? Uhh, try herding/air-throwing all enemies to one side then shoot them WHILE jumping (lot more range and more chance of quick-reload). They will NEVER catch up to you even when reloading IF you know how to fuckin USE HER
No fucking offense, but the mage is the EASIEST character to use in the game. There’s a reason why koreans and japanese do no-magic runs with the mage. Also, you seriously can’t be referring to some dumbass invinc bug that requires more than one player , to even IMPLY that the thief is just as good. You can’t beat this game with 1 coin solo , can you? To even bring up multiplayer when it comes to tiering? lmao:rolleyes:
INFINITES? Lemme guess, you’re referring to something you saw on YOUTUBE, right? well, here’s a secret for you. to do those infinites you’re referring to (works with more than the fighter and dwarf btw:wink: ) requires AUTOFIRE. i know that you don’t even know how to reproduce the groundhit infinite trick. you just saw it on youtube or some other site, the person who posted that video (is a member here, can’t remember his name) didn’t bother to give the source of WHERE he got it. I KNOW the source (main one , not mncast where a mirror was posted lmao), it’s a korean forum (where dudes play D&D:SoM all day while vidhosting on afreeca.) that i used to be a regular of for a while. great players, but all AUTOFIRE users (which i SHUN). saw some ridiculously awesome NON-tool-assisted, no-damage 1coin run on some asian vid site? There’s no possible fuckin way they used autofire, right? think again, koreans use a version of mame called mamelon that has autofire toggling without any on-screen messages. how do i know? i know the fuckers, thats how. also, guess what, even w/ all the autofire bugs in the world, the m-user still is better. and just in case you didn’t know, the cleric can “infinite” the exact same bosses as the F and D, so there goes your argument
Oh and trust me, the autofire infinites are NOT like final fight (which can be done WITHOUT autofire)… the “infinites” in SoM absolutely 100% require the correct autofire setting and are downright impossible with human hands. but you didn’t know that did you? i’m posting this so that you don’t reply with some ignorant garbage that with practice it’s practical. it’s not . oh and if you still think this shit is applicable to tiering, then… uhh… enjoy your TOOL-ASSISTED tiers along with your 2-4 player tiers
also, 2h sword rules. lmao @ you if you think the 2h sword sucks because it’s regular swing is shit, try doing some fucking qcf-> rising juggles. Yeah, the SoL is better, but have fun wasting cure rings trying to uncurse the SoL (yes, i know of the “trick” and it’s not foolproof and still time-consuming). in the meantime, i’ll save 4-5 minutes and use a sword that does slightly less damage when it comes to qcf+atks and rising attacks but has more reach . oh wait, you can’t beat this game solo w/ 1 coin, so you have a cleric to heal your ass for you while you swing that cursed fuckin sword , right?
(PS my post seems scalding? read your own first, i don’t like to be called a scrub about a game that i know like the back of my hand(SoM, not AvsP) although i’m deathly curious about your DETAILED opinion about WHY schaeffer is so great) i can just see your one-line response: “his pipe is a good crowd-clearer”
don’t expect a reply from me anytime soon, i’ve got hundreds of pages worth of reading to do this week

Nearly every GS team had a Snorlax on it. That thing was a monster. Skarmory and Blissey as well wall a ton of crap. Sleep talking Zapdos and Raikou is insane to take down. Jolteon and Umbreon could be used to pass stuff, Jolteon notably in a combo with Marowak for one of the strongest offensive powerhouses in GSC. Unfortunately, stalling just plain works better in GSC, making every competitive battle really long and drawn out.
Dragonite still suffers from poor moveslot syndrome in GSC. So did Entei. Their highest stats were in ATK, but they get no STAB moves to use that stat with.
There were a couple things that were banned in GSC because it made some stuff really stupid. Hidden Power Water/Ice/Grass on Zapdos and Raikou made them nigh uncounterable. Misdreavus and Jynx with Mean Look and Hypnosis was also considered to be banned (especially since both can Perish Song you as well).
Funnily enough, Mewtwo still has no true counter. Even though Tyranitar has super effective moves against it, and is immune to it’s psychic attack, a Mewtwo with Submission slaughters Tyranitar.
But yeah, Smogon is a great resource for where the RBY, GSC, and RSE metagames left off.
Is there a way we could somehow play link-battles online with an emulated version of GSC? I’d love restarting this title and playing it up with you and Ephidel.
Netbattle may still be around, try getting that. I think Shoddy (the current one) only emulates D/P.
Tiers for X-men: Reign of Apocalypse on the Gameboy Advance
Top Tier
Wolverine - The feral warrior is serious business. He has the most range on his attacks overall thanks to his claws and he attacks the fastest out of the cast. So enemies will almost never interrupt his combo. He can also juggle after the final launcher hit of his combo. His qcf + a special has him launch himself forward at high speed. It can be used as a juggle starter, but it’s real use is for when Logan is in a tight spot. Since he launches himself forward it can be used to break away from enemies when he is surrounded or to knock down enemies so he can contend with another foe. It’s extremely useful and one of the main reasons he is so good. His super is a boss killer and he can combo from his super straight into his A combo and then juggle from there. His heavy attack has good range as well.
Rogue - This southern bell is not to be fucked with. She hits hard and fast. The has a rushing attack special just like Wolverine, so she has the same applications for it. She can juggle after her A combo, and it’s easier to do then Wolverine’s since she knocks her opponent straight up. Since she attacks fast she will rarely be interrupted when she starts her combo. But even if it looks like she is about too she can use her special to get away from her enemies when she does her combo. Her super is the best in the game. She freezes the screen upon it’s activation and unleashes a super strong wind-up punch. The hitbox on this thing is retarded. It hits about 3 character lengths in front, 2 character lengths in back, and about 1 character length above her head. She can use it as a juggle ender as well. Her super gives her excellent crowd control and an extra option for when she is pinned down.
Mid Tier
Storm - The second in command of the X-men and easily one of the most powerful members of the team, can only lay claim to mid tier in this game. Her A combo while decent is interrupted by an enemy attack before the last hit about half the time or more when you play as her. The combo itself is solid though. Launches straight up on the last hit for an easy juggle follow-up. Her attack also has good range since she uses wind for her combo. Her attacks have good priority and the final hit has her summon a cyclone that knocks her enemy skyward. This creates a giant vertical hitbox that will hit other nearby foes as well. Too bad enemies will punch her right in the jaw and lay her ass out half the time before she can whip the attack out. Her qcf special is poor. She shoots out a small tornado. When the attack hits her super gauge doesn’t fill. And unlike the physical specials of Wolverine and Rogue, projectile specials can only hit one enemy. It’s really only slightly useful for boss fights since you can spam at long range to do small amounts of damage. Her super is good for crowd control since she summons lightning on both sides of her body, but the hitbox pales in comparison to Rogue’s. She is able to use it as juggle ender just like Rogue and Wolverine though which is good. Since her special is bad she has a less reliable option for being surrounded which is her super, but her Super gauge won’t be filled more often that not. Lacking a movement special and having an easy to stop combo regulates her to mid tier.
Low Tier
Cyclops - I suppose the leader of the X-men got the position due to his skills as a commander and not his capabilities, because Mr.Summers does not stack up to his teammates. He has no standard combo. Just a straight jab that he can throw out repeatedly. He attacks the slowest so using his jab alot is asking for a beatdown. You end up relying more on his heavy attack which is ok since it has really good range, but it would have been good to have the option of going for a combo since it allows you to beat enemies faster and deal more damage quickly. His jump attack is great though. He does a split kick that hits on both sides of him. Good for crowd control. His special has him shoot an optic blast. So that’s one less crowd control option or a way to get away when he is in a bad spot. And it has the disadvantages of not filling his super gauge and only being able to hit one enemy. His super is solid. Does great damage in front of him, and he can juggle after it. He would have been mid tier with Storm but lacking a standard A combo pushed him onto low tier.
As a side note everyone has throws and an area attack for crowd control as well. But throws require you to run right up on an enemy and hit the A button which can be a little risky and the area attack uses up a little health. Throws can hit other enemies when you toss your opponent, but the throws are the same overhead toss for every character and have little range to them.
There are several reasons why Dutch is awesome.
“Fock!”: Not only does it throw him forward with good speed, he’s constantly in an attack frame. Enemies hit by this are stuck and Dutch recovers first. From here you can do almost anything you want. At least one boss can be defeated by this move alone.
Power Bomb: Clears hordes of normal enemies fast. Dutch is invincible during the move. Easy to land from Fock.
OTG Gun: When you fire at most enemies who have been knocked down while Dutch is grounded, they are forced into their standing hit frames. This is very bad news for bosses. If they are backed in the corner, this results in an infinite.
The other characters do not need special circumstances to be able to use their gun without taking damage.
He’s hard to learn. It’s easier to pick up a traditional player like the fighter.
Because the game wasn’t designed for more than one person, right? The only way to play it is alone, to the exclusion of all other humans. Anything that can only be done with 2+ people does not exist.
You take a lot of words to say something simple. You don’t like tools. So what? Aside from the fact that there are infinites that do not require turbo, you think that means tool-enabled tricks no longer exist and are irrelevant? If this was a competition between people then no one would allow tools. Too bad in this game only the computer can be played against, so there’s no reason to exclude them.
You think uncursing the SOL is hard and takes 5 minutes? The maybe two minutes real time it takes to fix the thing (which is foolproof, keep practicing) is made up in the long run by the weapon’s damage over the 2h sword.
