Tiers for non-fighting games?

I usually used Judicator too freeze, or too shoot when retreating or when they are frozen if I don’t have an imp. Magmaul for alt, and also some Volt Driver, because it’s like the Power Beam, but better. Noxus’s alt is also something I use to attack for retreat using, but the problem is that it can’t jump in anyway.

Alts are typically better for retreat than pursuit. The only exception is Samus, because the boost ball is invincible, so it makes a good attack. Boost tackle into three bombs = money.

It’s hard to tier golden sun characters because there are better setups than just matching the regular affinities to characters. But I’ll try to break down what you have, since it’s about accurate:

Isaac over Felix

The ONLY difference in their stats is really ACC (Isaac’s is better). Issac is better in this format, but only by slightly. Felix has lower psyenergy points than Issac if IIRC, which is bad because both have low PP to begin with. You can milk a little more Grand Gaia’s and Potent Cure with Issac. Both have an respectable atk with all earth djinn…but Issac will win out in the long run.

Ivan over Sheba(?)

Same here, virtually the same with all 8 winds. Ivan is known to be a little bit more durable than Sheba…but I dunno why when their growths mimic each other. Sheba is great at lowering the opponents stats, plus both are pretty powerful spell casters. Virtually a tie here…

Jenna over Garret

HP goes to Garet
PP goes to Jenna
ATK is about even
DEF slightly favors Garet
AGL differently favors Jenna
LUC goes to Garet Slightly
ACC goes to Jenna, Garet has horrible ACC

About even again, not surprising. But I will say Jenna is better because she’s a better support who can atk off opportunities. One could make an argument, however, that she gets stuck in a healers role a little bit too much in the early going. While Garet, who’s pretty bulky…can take punishment. But he isn’t that strong as people make him out to be, Jenna kinda reminds me of Jessica from DQ8 as far as roles.

Piers over Mia

Piers has better HP, ATK, AGL. ACC is about even with the two, but Mia has a HUGE advantage over piers in the PP department. Mia can heal stall longer than piers, because Piers can sometimes use his PP to ATK. Both are exceptionally weak, though. Only really used as supporters for the group(s)

So here’s my take:

Top: Issac

Upper Mid: Felix, Jenna

Mid: Garret, Sheba, Ivan, Piers

Low: Mia

Just because Mia is low doesn’t mean she can’t turn out to be useful. She’s by far the best healer in the game - however that’s not saying much when that’s all you can do.

Has anyone played FFTA2 enough to tier it? I haven’t played it personally, but by reading a FAQ which includes stat growths and abilities, it seemed that a lot of classes got nerfed. Assassins got destroyed (they have garbage stats now and their skills don’t have ungodly hit rates), Paladins now have below average attack power, Defender’s Aura costs MP now, among other things.

It seems that some of the new classes are really good (Master Monk, Ravager, Raptor, etc.), while others seem not so good (Chocobo Knight, Arcanist, Viking, etc.).

For Golden Sun, I’d say its something more like this:

Top tier:
Isaac and Felix

Both are earth adepts (thus have access to the good offensive classes), and have access to the Sol Blade. Even though only one can get it at a time, its a step above nearly every other weapon in the game.

High tier:
Garet
Jenna

Once again, fire adepts means they have the offensive classes through their djinn setups. Unfortunately for Jenna, she does not gain access to any of the heavy blades, so her damage is ultimately worse than Garet’s.

Middle tier:
Mia
Ivan
Sheba

Mia is by far your best healer. And you will need the healing against a lot of bosses. Her healing being better than Ivan’s is why she’s above him, since Ivan beats the pants off of Mia in attack since he can use the Tisiphone edge. Unfortunately for Ivan, there are already 4 other people who attack better than him. Sheba is just worse than both of them. However, they all can get enough PP restoration through items per turn so they can use Pure Wish every turn and never run out of PP.

Bottom:
Piers

Piers is stuck with offensive equipment, in a defensive affinity. His highest attack multiplier is a pathetic 40% and he can’t get access to constant PP restoration to heal every round like the girls and Ivan can.

Something to keep in mind is that the MAX damage you can do with psynergy is 463. That’s from a 200 power Dragon Fume hitting a 0 mars resistance enemy and getting the highest random variance. This pales in comparison to physical attacks, which is why your physical attackers are better, and psynergy becomes only useful defensively. And when used defensively, the only time your power matters is when healing, which is why Mia wins the healing, since she can use all 9 Mercury Djinn and still get Pure Wish, while the others have to split their djinn and thus, have lower power in it.

Weapon upgrades in megaman 2

God tier
Metal Man

Shitty Tier
Everything else

arguably the nastiest weapon in any megaman game (excluding X series)

Megaman 2 has already been discussed many times, and no weapon in that game belongs in shit tier except maybe Bubble Lead.

 This man knows his shit. Good stuff. Although I would switch Jenna and Mia since I consider Jenna to be a healer, despite her offensive spells.

In the beginning where healers are actually a necessity it becomes a supreme issue in the roles that they play. But long term, I just dunno. This is why I give Piers the benefit of the doubt, because the game becomes more and more offensive minded each run. He has access to Legend, though with his shitty atk, can still put a dent in a lot of things if it’s X2 or X3.

For Garet he teems to miss a little bit too much for my liking. An all Fire Djinn setup really doesn’t suit him imo, while Jenna has more options in that category. That’s why I think Jenna is more useful in that format and I placed her over him. However, if he has the Excalibur then yeah he’ll be a lot better no matter what Djinn setup you have. The Excalibur sword is one of the best in the game, and you can get more than one!

And Bubble Lead has enough uses to keep it at least at a “Low tier”. Wily Stage 4, in particular (so you don’t die from spikey death). Although, I always found Atomic Fire a little underwhelming because of its huge energy drain and how it doesn’t really do much more than any other weapon can do.

As for Golden Sun tiers, Hyper Inferno’s seems to be the most accurate.

Melee Characters > Spell Casters > Piers

Jenna can do well as either a melee role and/or a support-ish role, while Piers sucks at both melee and support. Mia is a bit more flexible than either Ivan or Sheba when it comes to class choice since she gets the Wish line no matter what her class is (with very few exceptions). Also, as mentioned, she gets a stronger Wish spell since she has Water affinity and can get Nine Mercury stacked on her.

I’m also in the middle of redoing my Shining the Holy Ark tiers since I’m doing another runthrough of the game. Just have the final boss to get through, but here’s what I’m thinking:

S: Rodi
A: Arthur, Melody, Akane
B: Doyle, Forte
C: Basso, Lisa

Rodi is single-handedly S-tier because Sleep is stupid. It works on the Rilix battle in Enrich which then makes the whole fight a complete joke. His physical offense is a bit less than I remembered though.

Arthur is stronger than I gave him credit for. His offense and defense is high from start to finish, he gets the strongest attack spells, and he can use the Force Blade (Lisa’s best weapon). He’s pretty much comparable to Phantasy Star II’s Rolf. Lowish MP and a lack of the really great spells (Sleep, Support, Barrier, Aura) keep him from S-tier, though.

Melody and Akane are your two main healers. Melody has Support and Raise well before anyone else, yet Akane gets Aura and its higher levels much earlier than either Melody or Lisa. Melody is useful for a longer period of the game, though Akane is practically necessary for those later boss battles.

Doyle is still Doyle. His final weapon is attained earlier than anyone else’s which gives him superior offense for West and East Shrines and let’s him hang in the Tower of Illusion and Desire Mine.

Forte is far more useful than I thought. He gets Attack and Soul Steal a lot earlier than I thought, which gives him a nice seat in your front line from East Shrine onwards.

Basso has his late game offense, so he’s basically the same as I ranked him earlier. Lisa, however, has fallen far because Arthur can use her Force Blade. Not until half-way through Desire Mine can you pick up the Shining Blade (Arthur’s best weapon), so her use in the front line is limited. That, and Akane and Melody are good enough healers, and they both beat her in MP and Agility, really limit her to just the final battle, if that.

My idea for tiers for Valkyrie Profile 2. I’ll include the 2 most noteworthy Einherjar (Phyress and Zunde).

Top Tier:
Rufus
Rufus is just great. Good in physical damage for a long while thanks to high atk multipliers. EXCELLENT in elemental damage, especially with the Supreme Crossbow. Has helpful support spells too. Also is great at building combos with Killing Thorn. Consistently great throughout the game, no matter where you are. Blue Gale is a great weapon too, since it never misses and ignores defense. Plus, being a guy means he can use the White Loincloth for double damage against females.

Phyress
Not as good in physical damage as Rufus. Better than Rufus in elemental damage for the main part of the game (IE, before Seraphic Gate). She just plain blows things up with her attacks. Plus, access to the Blue Gale is just as awesome.

High Tier:
Alicia
Your best Light Warrior throughout the game. Not much else to say. High damage multipliers, great attack in Mirage Pierce ignoring defense, and the Heal spell is always nifty. Weapon selection is great too, getting stuff that hits weaknesses all the time.

Zunde
You don’t get him until the desert, but jeez, he’s a powerhouse. He can easily solo most of the game by himself, but that requires very very careful setup. However, with only a little setup, he can easily drain half of a boss’s health by himself. White Loincloth helps against seraphic gate as well.

Dylan
You don’t have him for most of the game, which is a pretty big downside. On the other hand, he can OHKO most of the Seraphic Gate bosses with little trouble. White Loincloth, Bloody Patch, Dragon Ribs, a racial-critical skill and Full Swing. Yeah…

Upper Middle:
Lenneth
Better Light Warrior than Alicia, but you only get to use her for the post game really. Not much else to say.

Hrist
Just as good (if not better) an attacker as Lenneth. But, same problem. You can only really use her for the post game.

Valkyrie
Well, probably just as strong as Lenneth and Hrist. But you can use her even less in the game.

Lower Middle:
Freya
Her damage honestly isn’t as good as its hyped to be On the other hand, she doesn’t have any elements attached to her best attacks, so you can save a sealstone slot that would normally go to Achromatic Law.

Brahms
Damage is not very good. Very very tanky though in terms of HP. Unfortunately, Valkyrie does a better job of tanking with her elemental resists (which are more important overall).

Arngrim
His attack multipliers are crap. Utter utter crap for a heavy warrior. That being said, frailty infliction is nice, and you get him back to use for a good time during the main story.

Low:
Lezard
Only sorceror in the game that misses more than one spell. Mages aren’t that impressive anyway in this game. At least coming back for one fight makes him seem good in comparison.

Silmeria
You get her for like what? 1 screen? And then, when she comes back in the SG, you already have Phyress and Rufus who are far far better than she could ever hope to be.

Leone
Just flat out worse than a lot of your other light warriors. Plus, you don’t get to use her very much.

This list is done in assumption that the player is getting top-notch equipment and accessories along the way throughout the game (but without grinding for the overleveled stuff that Arngrim, Leone, Lezard, and Dylan give you). With proper setup, you can kill most bosses in this game in a single round of combat.

Other information that’s relevant:
All Soul Crushes in the game have the exact same total multiplier (with one exception). This multiplier is 4.6 (Valkyrie is special with 4.7). So, if Arngrim had the same attack power as say, Alicia, they would do nearly the exact same damage with their soul crushes. However, Soul Crushes are not affected by most accessories (like the Bloody Patch and White Loincloth) which often makes the damage from them much much less than a simple normal attack.

Not sure if I can tier list all the job classes, but here are some noticeable setups for each race.

Hume: Dual Wield Paladin With Paravir Sub (or vice versa)
Viera: Either RedMage with DualCast and Elementalist Sub or you can do a physical attackers class that has Hunter (Double Attack is really good)
Bangaa: Master Monk is the best for Bangaa, hands down. Usually I see it having a Templar Sub just for support.

As for Moogle, Nu Mou, Seeq and Gria - I haven’t seen any crazy setups yet.

Viera is generally better off as a Summoner/Red Mage with Blood Price from what I hear. Ranger for Seeq is pretty broken: Item Lore + Reverse Item + X-Potion = 400 irresistible damage.

Did the assassin class really get nerfed? I heard it did, but I don’t know how badly anyway.

I just picked up the game today, so I’ll find out soon perhaps. I remember reading some nice setups in the DS thread I wanna try out once my clan is up to par.

I didn’t play ffta1 so I wouldn’t know how good it was. Didn’t it have some sort of broken skill called Concentrate or something?

Concentrate was an archer skill that boosted your hit rate by 50% or something for physical attacks and about 30% for status. This meant that all your basic attacks had the highest possible hit rate from the front (95%).

Coupled with the Assassin’s Last Breath OHKO attack, this meant that you had a 60% chance of OHKO anything from the front.

Yeah I think that might’ve been removed. I haven’t touched the game in days because of summer school, so yeah.

Pretty much it right there, I remember having a lot of Viera’s on my team because of the Assassin class.

It was pretty much broken with all the status moves and a ultima ability.
