Tier discussion

Yeah indeed but I rarely use that move. I play a really weird Blade but people need to tell me what they think.

have any vids of your blade?

youtube.com/RoyalFlush

hmm its not that weird you play a pretty rush down blade while still adding a hint of his keep away game. it kind of looks like regular tekkaman tho lots of j.C till you land a hit. It looks like you need to practice your execution with him, specifically the timing of his charge move after the j.2C. I really like you Morrigan and I think your Morrigan/Saki team is better. Of course this is only an observation on a few vids.

Yo, Tron, that Blade/Morrigan team is nice!!! You definitely do some certain things a lot better than me: you use Falchions much more sparingly to keep them tricky, you utilize 4C, aaand you cancel jumping 2C into Shamshir to make it safe. There are three just off my head. Those are good safe strategies that I think I should really consider incorporating. I’m definitely gonna have to go watch them again.

A few important things to bear in mind, too: don’t forget Blade’s 2B is really, really good. As long as you’re not doing it unsafely, 2B has enormous range, moves him way forward, and easily chains into 5C, launch. Plus, it’s a low, so it catches people advancing on the ground and unsafe jump-ins (not recommended against 'Patsu’s jumping B lol). Also, since Morrigan’s assist is her Soul Fist, you, too, can do those 3-launch, full-life combos if you so choose (which I recommend – trust me :wgrin: ). But, yeah, Blade can completely and utterly shuts Tekkaman down with Baselard pressure and Ryu’s/Morrigan’s assist. That tactic basically ruins anyone without a comparable keep-away game with which they can counter-zone (e.g., Yatterman-1, Saki, Blade). I noticed, too, that you don’t really utilize his double full-screen air dash capabilities, usually settling for one dash-in or dash-out. If you watch me play you’ll notice that sometimes my Blade will back dash or something and then suddenly hover for a split-second before darting in a totally different direction or simply faking out and dashing further in the initial direction. Using this technique you can rain spears down on people’s heads using Ryu/Morrigan to cover you on the ground; simply put, you become a meter factory. Last but, not least, Blade’s air throw is sooo strong! Granted, TVC is definitely no Guilty Gear, but air throws still work pretty well.

Keep the footage coming man, and I’ll do the same. We need to get folks into Tekkaman Blade and just TVC in general. :china:

Nooooooo no more blades please lol. More TvC players would be nice.

Oh thanks a lot Flexo. I usually do not play a certain way the whole time. The reason I was not using spears a lot in some matches probably because the person knew how to get above me but if they cant get through I usually keep doing. Usually the people who are not patient will get hit a lot by the spears. I found a nice combo that I have not seen posted anywhere for a solo one with baroque and a corner one that does a good amount of damage. I noticed I can do the 3 launches with Morrigan but still trying to get it down, just started practicing it today. Also about the dashes I just have been playing around with different tactics. I usually adapt to the opponent and figure out how I am going to play forcing characters such as Yatterman-1, Zero, Polimar to keep pressure off me.

Probably more videos to come since a tournament is this Sunday and look forward to seeing more matches of you Flexo.

Absolutely, and likewise. Good luck at your tourney.

@Xian I totally did not see your reply about my Blade but I usually just pull off basic stuff but I have figured out a good solo combo but did not get to do it in tourney today but Ill post a vid of it soon. Usually I fly around a lot doing jump C until I figure out what the player is going to do then I start adapting to punish them. It is kind of my way of feeling out the player and if they punish my J.C’s I start doing different things. I can play keep away with Blade a lot if I want to but I like to rush with him more. I can handle Blade mirrors now and beat two Blades today in tourney with mine. I have other stuff but do not want to spoil my game plan :).

@Fllexo AHHH I was doing so good at tourney today but my last match against BigDaddyChris you will see I kept on messing up a lot but all my other matches went pretty well. Even though I lost to RoyalFlush, it was the best I have ever done against him in tourney. Vids should be up on Wednesday hopefully. So I ended up getting 4th out of 13.

^ Congrats Tron!! I’ll definitely take a look at the footage if you post it up or just send me a PM with the link.

Nexislee signing in. Man thats just weak. I can’t believe he quit on you like that. I wonder if it was lagging or not. Oh well, he clearly could not handle your v.joe. What’s your TVC name, I wouldn’t mind going a couple of rounds with you, heck I need the v.joe practice. Oh yeah, if you do decide to play me let me know if you want to fight my G. Ligthan or not. I know how some people don’t like fighting giants. Nexislee- 2107-0204-7057. Watch out for my **Main man Mega.**Nexislee jacking out.

ps. I wont quit on you like dest did, unless it lags real bad.

I’m not posting vids until Thursday. I got all tournament videos of each match recorded and will be posted on my youtube channel.

Here’s the tournament results thread of the aforementioned tournament: http://shoryuken.com/f6/socal-tatsunoko-vs-capcom-bi-weekly-airdashers-tournament-series%40-ffa-9-19-2010-a-251731/

Gotta love it…SSF4 had a tier list within like a month…we’ve had this shiz since february and still can’t agree on one :stuck_out_tongue:

ssf4 also has a much larger base of skilled players, recorded matches, and tournaments to pull conclusions from. Making a TvC tier list is largely guesswork, especially without a Japanese scene like there was for the last one. That’s why we can’t really seem to agree on it.

Yeah, it’s true. We don’t have tiers because no one plays this game. :bluu:

I really see those two reasons as to why there is no tiers. We just have a whole lot of scrubs that do not “really understand fighting games” as a whole to discuss with. SSF$/SF$ had the same problem when it first dropped but it did have the second bolded point to help it. The japs as a whole just understand fighting games more so when they look at a fighting game they see it for what it is and not what they want it to be (stupid run-away , OTG uncrashable infinites, DEATH DHC’s, Real team chemstiry, etc…). We just need some push from the japs and the scene will grow again, I do not see that going down so…

Team Tier list anyone??

which is kind of sad, since I think even Pocket Fighter has one :frowning:

Dude, c’mon. That’s not fair to say at all. The Japanese don’t have a better understanding of fighting games than we do. The fact is the Japanese have a very active and thriving arcade scene. Furthermore, there are arcades - well supplied arcades - on practically every street corner. Last but not least, Japan is an island with a large population. Everyone is, more or less, crammed into close-quarters. By that, I mean they’re at most a few hours apart by train. Here in the US, players are sometimes separated by many hundreds or even thousands of miles. We also have no arcade scene to speak of save, of course, for parts of New York, California, and Texas. This deprives us of the tight-knit community connectivity that Japanese players have. We, unfortunately, make due with console tourneys that require gratuitously long road trips or plane rides, lest we be stuck in our apartments by ourselves in Training Mode.

To say that Japanese players are better than American players is, I think, a reasonable statement. However, to say that Japanese players understand fighters better than Americans untrue…again, in my opinion. Americans have traditionally better offense than Japanese players – it’s simply the way we play games. That’s why it’s interesting to see an American player use a solid defense like Japanese players are more typically known for. Both nationalities excel in different areas. Japan simply has more resources than we do and better resources at that.

So, they have more and better resourses, but they do not have a better understanding overall? How about just on lower levels, like games like TvC, EFZ, Meltyblood, VC/VS, Chaos Breaker etc… You do no believe they have much better players in all these games? Most of the top comp in most of those games do not place that high in more than 2 other games. While Jwong will take 4 out of 6 tourney games with top 1-3. (he even played brawl for a short time) As a culture they seem to breed better gamers than we do, some if not most of that has to come from knowledge and understanding/applying that knowledge. They just do it better right?

Ok. It was just how I see games as a whole, not just TvC, so, I will just keep that to myself. See you at SBR, hope to go and get some games recorded against you. What is good with the First to 7 for $40-$75?? Did you hear something about a TvC room yet? Team Tourney? Giants legal? Keits or Kurasa running it? I need the deets!!

I want to go to SBR but too soon for me and not enough money at the moment. Both of you come to SoCal Regionals!
