Now that I’m actually awake…
It was good to see a lot of you guys again, and was fun hearing the stories of your Seattle Trip as well as surprising news from a certain person, but congrats at the same time. Big props to the newcomers to the scene, hope to see you guys out this weekend, and if not, then the next weekend, a lot of potential for everyone coming out, just keep playing!
Also…Ninja Parkour antics FTW lol.
On a related note, we found a wrist brace when we were cleaning up last night. Was that yours? Got it in the lost and found.
We will not be holding Throwdown Tuesdays next week (May 3rd), but there will be a special event on Friday (May 6th) instead. Details coming soon. We will resume Throwdown Tuesdays May 10th.

I cant function without my medicine.
Hello gaming community,
First off, here at Best Bout Gaming we would like to give a big shout out to the NW fighting gaming community, and give our appreciation for the support we have received from the people and players. It’s been a great last couple of years for competitive gaming, for the first time since the early days of Street Fighter 2 the scene has achieved a new peak in terms of exposure, promotion, and popularity. Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, and pretty much everywhere else have seen their communities expand in the last couple of years, interest and excitement over competitive gaming has been on the rise. In Portland, we have had our share of good exposure, thanks to the combined efforts of the players in the scene. Last year some of the players in the local community merged together to form Best Bout Gaming, an LLC dedicated to the promotion of competitive gaming. In the fall of 2010, we opened shop at Purest Cafe. The establishment was kind enough to let us host our public casuals, and for the duration that we were there our weekly event continued to grow with great turn outs and support from the community. At the same time, we continued to host the ongoing tournament called Slugfest at Portland’s great retro arcade Ground Kontrol. Exposure was high, and with this the scene continued to evolve. Best Bout would not be where we are now without the support of these two great establishments, we will always be indebted to them for helping us get to where we are now. A big shout out to Ground Kontrol and Purest Cafe, two great local businesses that are down for the cause! Now, without further adieu…
Grand Opening!
We are proud to announce the opening of Best Bout Gaming, a commercial location dedicated to the promotion of the competitive gaming scene. This includes fighting games, as well as first person shooters, sports games, Rock Band, anime games, and so on. Depending on the night, we will have different themed casuals, such as the reoccurring Throwdown Tuesday for fighting games. We will host a variety of tournaments on various weekends depending on the type of game. Our flagship fighting game tournament will be called Best Bout Beatdown, and will occur once a month. Our main objective is to have a location that is exclusively for the gamers, free of constraints or any other obstacles. For Portland, we hope this location will act as home base for our competitive scene, and we encourage everyone to come check it out. The layout will be similar to a gaming hall, with tables lining the walls, and consoles/set ups running various games. We will also be streaming our events, as well as shooting various video segments for broadcast and promotion on a regular basis. Our good friend Chris Nguyen has been working on a documentary that will chronicle our efforts to level up, it should be available for viewing in a month’s time or less. The Best Bout location will have regular hours of operation (to be announced) be heavily advertised and promoted in Portland area. We feel this is the next logical step for the gaming community, locally we simply are looking to offer a center point for all the hungry gamers out there. Essentially this location will act as a commercial entity, gamer’s dojo, and community resource. Here are the details;

Shoot, yeah. I was looking for that. Thanks for putting it in lost and found. Look forward to playing ya again
Hi OR people, haven’t heard of any of you guys coming up to Battle for Seattle…hoping that some of you can attend so we get a diverse crowd. There’s a sticky in the northwest forums for it, and you can get more info at seattleretro.org.
Also, if housing over the weekend is a problem, I can probably keep a few people at my house and we can all drive to the venue. Hope to see some of you guys there. :tup:
bout to try and find this place, should be fun
You guys having a session tomorrow? I’m finally not on call and was just wondering what I should bring along as it’ll be the first time I’ve gone. I just hope I don’t get lost, I’ve been to Portland only a handful of times since moving out here.
Yup every Tuesday at our new location! Bringing your own controller or stick is always recommended. Also if you want to play a game other than the new games like SSFIV, MVC3, or MK9, I would recommend bringing that as well. If you get lost feel free to call us @ 503-488-5766. See you tomorrow!
We also have an overhead cam now, you can see what is happening real time. Lots of people here, good stuff. Also, some pics from the weekend.
Good games to everyone I played tonight. Best Bout is the best.
