I’m not sure I understand your point. There are already KoF13 tournaments. KoF13 is already getting represented at most every major. KoF13 was announced to be part of Evo’s roster this year before the MLG announced it was part of the MLG roster. They are also throwing a tournament that interferes with the Evo tournament season. $50 entry free as well.
indeed, how can someone confuse a game with the opposite philosophy of current capcom’s fg desing is beyond me
sg and the current trend of fgs made by capcom are simple the antithesis of each other
In the past that’s how it’s worked for KOF games that aren’t 13. I’m going to take a wild ass guess and say you won’t be at any tournies for KOF in the US this year if you’re still residing in Beijing.
MLG picking it up will be great for the game to get exposure in an audience that hasn’t already made up its mind about KOF. I don’t care if it’s MLG doing it now, because that’s how bad it’s been regarding KOF tournies in the US before 13 drew in a bunch of ‘interest’ it because ‘it isn’t SF4’.
Regarding the $50 entry fee: It’s MLG and the top 8 placers get some decently large payouts. Even 8th is $550, which could cover travelling expenses if you’re in reasonable roadtrip distance.
People don’t seem to realize none of the 3 fighting games are guaranteed a spot in the full MLG season, at the moment MLG is just trying out fighting games in their Winter Championships. These guys are obviously angry at the FGC for rejecting them and are determined to win respect from us, but ultimately they are not fighting game fans willing to make losses for organizing tourneys. They will expect a certain level of turnout for any of these games to be added to a full season… Nothing they have done indicates that they have an understanding of how the FGC works, that they even care about understanding how the FGC works and how they can get people to put $50 in for a single game, or even $35 just to watch it. So don’t put your expectations too high for MLG, because I have a strong feeling people are expecting far too much from them.
I’m not expecting anything but a toruney in Columbus. SRK never did anything for KOF either. The FGC as such was pretty apathetic and/or reluctant to support the game at all.
IMO what the MLG is trying to do, is to try and get EVO and the other events to be the "Capcom Events"
specially after all the trolls who keep bringing this shit that a capcom game is automatically included on EVO (They probably missed CFE).
I wish they weren’t that greedy and just allowed fighting game players to deal with fighting games.
But no, they want to run majors for every genre so THEY can have a say on everything.
Even if it splits the community.
sfxt is more fun than sf4 and takes less skill than cfj. also i dont see how sfxt will take anyone away from kof13 other than ppl out in the boonies with no offline ppl to play.
“KoFXIII? I would play that, but I heard the online is bad.”
“SFxT has a bunch of retarded subsystems for the sake of having subsystems, the worst walk speeds in the genre, a timer that doesn’t stop during the hour-long supers, almost completely useless throws, horrible art direction, a ton of glitches, bad online, and easy infinites popping up each day, but once you get past that, it’s a great game.”
I know this is directed at someone else, but still!
FGD posters and certain other players lead people along like they’re going to play KOF13 or some other flavor of the month. So I count on them to stop that shit.
