Thoughts on the effect of SFxT

It made it to one Evo? Cool…

TvC wasn’t dropped because it was bad, though. It just got mugged by Marvel 3 in a dark alley.

SFxT is going to kill what momentum KoF13 has

It’s a good thing they got picked up by MLG, because I think that’s the only way they’re going to move forward

Well personally I’m dropping Marvel 3 for SF X Tekken. I think SF4 will still remain the main game once all the hype dies down a little bit for SF x Tekken. SF4 is still a good game and Marvel 3 is too random. Only thing Marvel really guarantees is hype. And after this past weekend idk if we can even say that Marvel is our game anymore. Even players like Fanatiq are focusing on SF x Tekken now. But who knows ,only time will tell.

What if it regresses in a bad direction say Shaq Fu

Yeah MLG is a godsend for KOF13, because they need the extra exposure.

Maybe, but I doubt it will last more than a season with MLG.

I’m sure it’ll work out like 3s/MvC2/CvS2 used to be where they all drew similarly high numbers at the same time.

I disagree, If they can bring the international players (Korea, China, Taiwan, Peru, Mexico, Europe, Japan) to the MLG scene it will be a huge event, the game has enough support in NA with Atlus and the community has players with a different mindset.

Also there is still people busy playing SCV, AE2012 and MVC3 and KOF, there is a lot of FG right now, i think the SFxT scene will be good but not as great as Marvel or AE (considering the DLC fiasco and the support of some local communities playing other games), only time will tell.

Has there been a good, detailed rundown of why this game is going to be the worst thing ever/worse than SF4/varying degrees of craptastic? I mostly ignored all the specifics on the run-up to the release after hearing all the kneejerk-sounding outcry about it… well that and nothing about the premise interests me as a fighting game fan.

The consensus at the very least is that SFxT fixes a lot of the things people have been complaining about SF4, and that if you play this game like it’s SF4 you will almost certainly be bodied. So even if you hate this game it’ll be for different reasons from why you hate SF4.

If you play this game with strategies that have been concocted around another game’s design, you may not be playing optimally. Big surprise.

Based on what precedent? Wishful thinking? Games with KoF13’s popularity never last long in MLG.

Maybe, but considering there was no SNK scene in NA this is a huge step, is not the same as a capcom game which gets automatically the players to support it in NA.

I can’t agree with you at all. People aren’t going to flock to KoF13 for a flawed, closed tournament format.

MLG’s reasons for picking up KoF13 has nothing to do with the game at all. Which is sad, as it’s only going to end up hurting the KoF scene.

Shout-outs to e-sports.

I still have my doubts and i think i agree with your opinion in some parts maybe is another intention to expose their FG format as a new standard, another problem right now is the NCR at the same time and the best players are from Cali, but as i’ve said before, this could be a new precedent, positive or not, only time will tell.

I’m going off topic, SFxT will get an scene depending of AE2012 and UMVC3 it will be interesting to see which game will get less response from the fans.

SFxTK wouldn’t take people away from KOF if it wasnt for KOF’s absolutely horrible online…

So, no? I’m interested in information. Like TMG said that’s hardly relevant.

‘Hate’ is a pretty strong word. I just think the game’s a little dull and enjoy other games more.

Beggars can’t be choosers I guess? It’s better than no tournaments at all. There’s a self-fulfilling prophecy regarding KOF that goes like this: we assume there’s no grassroots support, so evo won’t put it in the lineup, therefore no grassroots support surfaces. And also the “no one plays that game so I won’t” silliness that goes on with everything else.

SFxT seems to be using some form of rollback netcode, so if anything, this could be a precedent to rollback netcode being used in more than just downloadable fighters.

Skullgirls is the only new Capcom game that isn’t a main game at Evo.

As far as the new 2.5d Capcom games, you’ll just see less SFIV and Marvel streamed. SFxT is going to take up stream attention for a bit and then it’ll probably even out once streamers find a way to evenly distribute footage of each game during tourneys.
