The M one?
My dawg. Royal Flush, you is my dawg. Thanks a bunch man. Really lookin’ forward to experimenting with some come next Tuesday. Gonna be so tight. You just keep doin’ what you’re doin’. As for testing out some things, I’d definitely like to know if his resets still work.
As of right now, let’s hold off on making threads for frame data. Some other folks have talked to the mods, and the general consensus is on handling it is not to do it because it would detract from folks buying the guide. I don’t want anyone to get in trouble for that, plus the reason behind it does kinda make sense.
Ok, I edited my thread with all the frame data after I created it.
I don’t get this reasoning, it’s just plain bullshit. There is absolutely nothing keeping someone from figuring out the frame data by themselves and posting it, so what is inherently wrong with posting the info? Its source has no bearing on anything. It’s not like you’ll just be scanning the pretty pictures. People will still waste money on another shitty guide that will be obsolete in a week.
Shit like this just screams of the typical collusion so rife on this fucking site. They don’t own the numbers, they’re just playing favorites again and this shit is getting fucking old. It’s about time people said something about it. How laughable is it that even now, the Marvel Wiki has no frame data at all?
I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if the Canons got a % from the guide sales for offering so much free advertising. That’s what’s really going on.
Oh and Flush. Thor can do 700k in Vanilla by himself. Assistless and 1 meter he can. Just sayin’.
All I can say is rules are rules. As for the reasoning, I could sorta guess that while the numbers are definitely not owned by anyone, the guide was made and sold for that convenience, and getting those numbers conveniently without having to pay for it sorta undermines the work that the guide people did I guess. People gotta make dat green some kinda way. That said, I would imagine that if someone else decided to get the frame data from the game itself and then post it up for free with some sorta proof that they actually did the work, then there’d be nothing wrong with that. Sorta loophole-ish, but whatever. Either way, specific frame numbers from every move is a no-no right now. Probably a couple months or so into the game, maybe even a couple weeks, it’d be okay. Right now, we gotta be indirect with how the moves work. Usin’ words like slow, punishable, etc. That’s what I heard, and I’m just passin’ it on.
That’s my whole point. You would have no proof as to how the numbers were acquired to begin with, hence why you can’t put a stamp on factual data and claim it as your own, it makes no sense to do so.
I could easily go into practice mode and capture all the normals and special moves and have it all figured out in an hour or 2. What kind of proof would you need to go ahead a let me post the info? A God damn montage of me staring at the screen, dissecting the moves frame by frame set to the Benny Hill theme?
The only logic here is greed. This site is only interested in helping out the fighting game community so long as doesn’t get in the way of making a buck, I wish people would realize that and tell them all to go to fuck.
Its not the same at all, simply because CS is much faster and travels a longer distance than MS, making it safe on block wouldve been a bad idea on a fast, long range projectile invincible move because ppl will just spam it like crazy with little risk. MS is slower and travels a small distance, and im saying that only the charged version should be safe. You wont have to worry about ppl spamming ground MS like CS considering how vulnerable it is on start up, and because it travels a small distance its much more likely to whiff which also leaves you vulnerable.
im not saying that it should give you a lot of advantage on block, just enough to make it safe. Somewhere along the lines of -2 ~ +1 on block.
If you watched Royal Flushes video you can see that it appears Mighty strike goes much further he never did a ground L one though as far as I could see but I watched the vid while half asleep so maybe I missed it. (Going to watch again to make sure) Either way Thors new minimum damage and special scaling has got my mind racing.
Mighty Strike not only has incredibly faster startup with or without the charge, but it also goes further in each version, and goes even further than that when charged. Also, air versions are plus on block especially when you charge it and have incredible hit stun. I think it’s fair only one MS isn’t plus on block, which can still be taken advantage of with MP being frame 1 invincible.
Even with the new buffs MS still doesnt compare to CS in speed and range. And Ground L mighty strike already suffers from other drawbacks when compared to the air versions, its harder to follow up because of its angle and can only be followed up if fully charged. Most importantly its much more vulnerable especially if you’re charging it considering that you have to stand still on the ground for awhile in order to charge it, that gives your opponent plenty of chances to interrupt/avoid it even with the buffed start up. If on top of all that you make it unsafe on block then that rly leaves no reason to use ground L strike, i wouldnt mind if thor had other good ground options but he doesnt.
Its the same reason that L mighty smash needs to get buffed, there’s absolutely no reason to use it in vanilla outside of mighty smash mix ups with an assist, it doesnt lead to anything on hit, does the least damage out of all the versions and is unsafe on block. And apparently capcom’s way to fix that is to nerf mighty smash M and take away its hard knockdown instead of turning L smash into a half decent move.
Wait a minute… What? I thought It was only nerfed as an assist. Is it just completely nerfed in general this is a big deal.
And while I completely understand and somewhat agree with your point, I still feel like I gotta play devil’s advocate. Can you really call that greed? Like you said, it’ll probably take an hour or two for each character, so for the whole cast, I’d say about 50 to 70 hours. No matter how you look at it, that’s a lotta work, so asking for a little compensation for it, especially considering how valuable it is to us fighting game fans, doesn’t seem at all greed driven. It’s getting compensation for the amount of work they’ve done. Money’s a little more valuable than a bunch of people saying “thanks for doing all the work for me, now I’m gonna go about my way like you don’t exist.” Not many people are willing to do the work, so the work should be looked at as something of value, and in the days before the game comes out and even after the game’s been out for more than a few weeks, I can only see it as being fair, and the fact that the SRK wants to support the work put into making the guide is fair too, and in the long run, I’d say that helps the fighting game community more. People get the guide, the people who made the guide get paid and feel more motivated to make the next guide for the next game while still keeping up with the quality they’re known for, while in a month or so, the information from the guide becomes more accessible across the net, (SRK included), all the while the rest of the community can focus on bettering themselves at the game.
was it? if so then i guess i just misread, then again the hard knockdown on M smash was most useful as an assist, there’s rly not much use for it on point and even if you wanted the knockdown you can just use L smash instead (it just does a little less damage). It was great as an assist though cuz it gave characters with easy OTGs plenty of time to follow up, it was especially good with dante and doom.
To clarify, looking at the Old Testament’s frame date and the New Testament’s data (still love calling them those for some reason) Mighty Smash is exactly the same as before including the Assist Mighty Smash.
I think there is plenty of room now for a Thor st.mighty strike H infinite after of an air Mighty Tornado with soft knockdown, at least in XF. The charge speed is looking way too good.
Mighty Smash just ground bounced, I don’t recall it having hard knock down properties. I’m still holding my view about Mighty Strike, I use Steve and I use Donald. I would love for CS to be used in the air AND be safe on block.
Anyways, Thor’s UMVC3 thread name.
"My God has a Hammer"
I got it while walking today remembering this panel:

mighty smash M causes a ground bounce AND a hard knockdown in vanilla.
Epic
Again, why not make L might smash have frames of invinciblity? With that, it’s at least be useful for mighty thunder. And since Thor has to get in a opponents face, it’d be good to punish and get in real quick, ala Charging star. And it gives thor some ground mix up, in stead of using mighty strike all the bloody time.
And it’s considering the range and being unsafe on block (it is right?), it wouldn’t be abusable.
