"This is way too easy." Ibuki Unblockables

Awesome!

It’s worked very well for me so far, but it’s not guaranteed if I mess up my timing. I just wanted another bag of tricks to add to the Sagat fight :frowning:

I do love me some double tsumuji loops though. It is the BEST part about playing guys like Sagat, Abel, Deejay.

Very nice video. You walk forward quite a lot to get at that range. For some reason, whenever I play against a character that I’m not too familiar with, I always go for the shoto-unblockable, even if they’re not a shoto. I guess it looks like an extremely ambiguous cross-up. I’ll try and remember this variation against Guile, Seth, Claw.

A short variation on this unblockable to make it a little easier to perform is to re-arrange the order of your moves:

Neckbreaker , walk foward , b+MP , j.LK

This way the only hard part is timing how much you walk forward, and the quick forward to back motion for b+MP. Everything else is automatic.

I also noticed that most characters can simply wake up dash forward to get out, as the setup is timed pretty late to work. As a point of reference to the shoto unblockables, it will never crossup on shotos.

Oh wow I was playing around with the little variation I made and I found the same unblockable on Cammy, which always crosses up no matter what, and Cammy can’t block it as crossup lol. Video soon. The same thing happens with Sakura, Dhalsim, Ibuki.

As a quick test, it also works on Fei Long, Chun, so I assume it’s pretty much the same setup as yours; however with Fei Long and Chun, it acts as a regular unblockable in that you may or may not change sides depending on how your opponent blocked.

However, this setup doesn’t work on Akuma or Guy.

Are there any tough matchups for which we need unblockables now? Looks like safe jumps are overrated. Why bother learning safe jumps when you can learn unblockable safe jumps lol.

Rufus, Dictator, Dee Jay Plz. ._.

The shoto unblockable works on Dictactor. Unblockables sound pretty impossible against a character with a 4f reversal that autocorrects all the time.

Exactly. Unblockalols are like safe jumps + free damage. Over time, we will create the perfect flowchart Ibuki.

Using the two setups, we can reason that there at least double the chance of timing the unblockable correctly for these characters (if not Akuma/Guy). That means it’s something like a 2f link setup. Knowing this, this means that they should be relatively easy to do with some practice.

Soulsynapse, could you log into my YouTube Channel and add these new Unblockables to the Ibuki Technology Playlist and re-order then so they come on before the gimmicky stuff?

off-topic: when I went to Monaco I came across a music groups that were pretty decent so I did an extra interview with them. If anyone’s in NYC and likes the underground scene check this out

The unblockable setup for Guile does not work on the others. For Vega also, his setup won’t work on Guile either or any other chars. So adjusting the range before making a jump is a little bit tricky.

It seems to be a hit or miss, since I was definitely able to get a setup that worked on both Guile and Claw.

Oh…good to know that…either way is good to use against 'em.

I actually use it in this order, it’s easier to walk forward - quick b.MP.
If youwalk a bit more, it’ll be uncblockable on Seth as well.

Anyway, does any player in this world forward dash on wakeup? He’d need to know this. Given the fact that most players are not even able to escape a kunai, I wouldn’t bet on thet. OS Necbreaker would catch it anyway, right?

DeeJay: Safe jump OS whatever (EX Kazegiri is fun). Command dash mixups starting with cr.LK. Like MK Tsumuji - st.HK - cr.LK. The cr.LK will lower your hitbox enough to make his stupid reversal whiff.
Rufus: Whatever. Kunai when he doesn’t have meter, any jump + OS when he has meter.
Dictator: Ragequit. You got plenty of unblickables on him but he can escape them for free, just like he can escape any of your kunais.

If you’re predictable enough with your post knockdown mixups, I don’t see why they wouldn’t forward dash on wakeup. Plenty of smart, top players, do this against Ibuki when her mixups are obvious.

Awesome unblockalols Mingo. Of course, I’ll need to find a way to memorize all this shit for my matches. Usually I just try the shoto unblockable, and adjust it from there to see which other setup I should use.

How I see this, if you’re playing against a smart/top player, you gotta be smart/top as well. Ibuki has enough tools to mindfuck any of your opponents if you can vary your game enough. I’m not any kind of smart or top player (autopilot seal of quality) but seriously, last time I went into a major tournament I could play around 10 or 15 matches against Evans and managed to get 5 or 6 victories. He wasn’t able to forward dash or EX chicken wing on wakeup or anything because he was just afraid of me changing my mixups again (and he ate a lot of OS Raida because I knew he was gonna EX CW out of here ^^ ). And in those 10 - 15 matches I think I used an unblockable something like 4 or 5 times, so not enough for him to understand that this was actually unblockable.

Anyway hope this was a cool story for you bro, but the point is, if you use Ibuki’s mixup possibilities at their full potential, there is almost no chance your opponent will dare doing a forward dash on wakeup (unless he’s RF and likes to do nonsense stuff on wakeup lol).
BTW, this unblockalol (neckbreaker - step fwd b.MP - j.LK)can be mixed with either a jump kunai (try to forward dash now) or a LK/MK command dash (HK being too unsafe). So if you’re able to do this, there’s no way a player will just forward dash. Remember that the best tool you have with Ibuki is that you can play with your opponent’s mindset when he’s down. If you do this well, he’ll most likely be afraid of doing anything on wakeup (may it be mashing, backdashing or whatever) and will rather just rely on blocking, that’s where unblockalols can happen. As a common example, if you catch a Teleport-happy Akuma three times in a row with a neckbreaker, if he’s smart enough he’ll just stop teleporting.

If the place has wifi (most do) and you have a phone/laptop/other wifi capable device, then you can just access the Ibuki charts online.

BTW, don’t do that in tournaments. It’s just like reading your lessons before entering an exam: shows you that you forget a lot of stuff, and during your match you’ll be trying to remember all of them while the usual amount of stuff you know is enough to pwn your opponent =)

I didn’t know tournaments were like exams and you’re not allowed a “cheat sheet” of some sort.

Hell, bring a laptop with the full chart and have it in front of you as you play. Maybe you’ll intimidate your opponent as he goes “holy fuck you have to memorize all that shit? The only setup I know is meaty Seismo and then go from there.”

Lol good stuff! And be like this is what I’m going to do to you after I knock you down. Go ahead and try and block this shit. Lol.

Haha.
Of course you’re allowed to bring this kind of sheet anyway. But this will generally just make you loose focus.
If usually, you think like “Okay, now that he’s down I can do either this kunai, this one, or this safe jump”, you’ll be like “okay LETZ MAKE TEH UNBLOCKABLEZ AND MISS IT BECAUZ I HAVEN’T TRAINZ ENOUGH FOR IT”.
I believe that if it’s not natural for you to do something, you shouldn’t try it in tournament, but rather rely on what you’re perfectly sure about. In tournament conditions you should only use what you’re perfectly sure about, cause you won’t get a chance to have your revenge anyway.

And also personally, keeping notes makes me feel like I’m doing my homeworks, so I don’t do it ^^
