Turns out someone beat us to the idea. Was flipping through a TV Guide earlier and came across a whole series of dsp crossover shows. For example,
dsp Tries It: Ice Road Truckers: (22 minutes, Color, CC) A new trucker joins the long haul when darksyde phil brings his countless hours of Grand Theft Auto expertise to the team. However, disaster strikes when a poorly executed turn leaves the cabin of his 18-wheeler behind the load, pushing rather than pulling it! Can the ‘king of hate’ earn some serious cash by getting the cargo of volatile explosives delivered safely and on time as he drives across the vast frozen roads of Alaska?
Edit: Also, dsp fails at X-Com. The new one. The one far easier than the originals ever were.
I don’t mind DSP getting paid to play and provide entertainment, but let’s be real here: This would not work as well without the well edited montage videos. Those guys should get paid too!
Also it should be mandatory to make the youtube comments pop up on the screen. This is vital!
I wasn’t aware that he quit Killer is Dead 1/3 of the way through because he claims it’s “button masher.” I’m currently on my 4th run of this game on Very Hard for the second time. You’d seriously have to go out of your way to miss all the mechanics since the first 5 levels of the game are practically tutorial missions. Fuck me.
If it bugged you that much you’re better off not watching the rest of it. He only lasts maybe 2 minutes before doing a crappy Mickey Mouse impersonation and talking about Dr. Doom making out with Maleficent.
I was unfortunate enough to accidentally start watching one of hid ‘east coast custom’ vids recently where he’s modding some TEs, and I have to say the guy is an UTTER ASS. He gets some cheap prints done, pops in some Sanwa parts, replaces the artwork and then… TRIPLES THE PRICE OF THE STICK??? Dude was laughing pretty much the whole way through the video and I can see why!
Just got around to watching the Injustice vids (yeah, 4-5 days later). Kind of funny to watch him insult people for things he probably does himself, like the “Fanta and Cheetos” part.
Watching him cry about Deathstroke is amazing. How is he having this much trouble? Yes, Deathstroke is incredibly annoying and un-fun to play against… but the average Deathstroke player is really easy to beat and I was pulling it off semi-reliably with Grundy of all characters. Block, dash, block, dash, block the inevitable triple-flip-slash, then rip him up.
“Fighting games I do exceptionally well at, because I have a background in fighting games.” Oh my goodness. Also, I bet his moves would come out more reliably if he didn’t abuse his controllers. Just a guess. Kind of scary watching him continue to blame lag, too. Yeah, Injustice’s netcode isn’t the greatest… but the lag isn’t anywhere near as bad as to be a consistent excuse. If it’s really this bad for him across so many games, then I suspect his network to be at fault. Wonder if he has ever considered this… probably not.
Wait, I just realized who dsp is. He’s a less likable clone of Glass Joe. You know, the Punch-Out character with a 1-99 record? Same thing here. dsp did well one time, and now seems to think he’s amazing despite so much proof to the contrary.
At least in the case of Rockstar, getting angry at the engine is legitimate. GTA games do weird stuff sometimes; anyone remember the ‘hydraulics carts’ in Red Dead Redemption? Not that engine gaffes justify anything else in the video, mind you. Well, let’s go over the lowlights…
Him being alarmed by the cops ramming his car surprises me. Surely he’s aware the police train in those kind of maneuvers, ones meant to induce spin-outs? One can argue whether they should be doing that stuff to begin with or not, but they currently do and this shows up all the time on any given “world’s most xtreme rad 2 da maxx police chases” TV show. It’s not a new concept.
Even funnier is it taking dsp so long to figure out why the police in GTA pursue him. I haven’t played GTA V yet so this surprised me too, but just based on watching the video I would have to surmise the game enforces traffic laws or at least speeding laws? Zooming past cop cars at incredibly high speeds was the only thing I noticed him doing when he was picking up 1 and 2 star wanted ratings. Granted, I’m half-awake at best so maybe I’m missing something, but this seemed to be the cause of his “unlawful persecution by the LSPD!!!11one”? There must be some reason, despite his protests.
“Why am I losing control?” - Probably because you’re trying to take inclined curves at 90 MPH, yon glorious monarch of malice. That, or the controller got tired of being flung around the room. Or both.
Watching him drive worse than Austin Powers at the end is pretty incredible. This is also based on not having played yet so I can only see the tiny bit of road the camera shows… but couldn’t he have just attached to the trailer, gone straight, and taken a left to get out of there far more smoothly? It’d require making another left turn at some point to get where he wants to go, but this at least seems to make more sense than banging into every single wall along the way?
Seeing him not have fun with GTA V makes me want to buy it even more. He really is some kind of ‘bizarro world’ game recommendation service!
If he had a PS3 I wish hed play Ape Escape from the ps1! Id love to see him be out smarted literally by monkeys as they continually kill him. Maybe itd finally be the final straw and hed see he has to change the way he goes about playing. I bet hed complain about the controls being too different for him though and just blame that.
