This Is All For Killing!: The M.O.D.O.K Combo Thread

Can someone tell me how Instant Air Dash works and how to do it? I see plenty of mentions on the modok boards. Spidey/Thor player here, looking to pick up modok

It’s basically you jump, and than you air dash with a button or two, and you cancel into attack. You keep all of your momentum of the air dash, but you are attacking in the same time. Perfect example is Magneto using his H combos, and how he is never losing momentum when air dashing. When you ever seen a good Magnus dashing with his godlike Hs across and never losing his momentum, that’s IAD in action.

If you play Thor, you definitely already know the concept of instant air dashing. Same gameplan with MODOK, and you just need to get used to MODOK’s weird mobility.

hi nos99 or anyone can u please transcribe the last two combos ? i can’t figure them out…

Sure, no prob.

Hi man, sorry but i was wondering about the exchange combo. in your notes you say that it’s an easier version but was wondering if thats any different than the exchange notations you listed in another thread. I’m having extreme difficulty connecting the M, H, l cube immediately after M, fly M cube portion

EDIT: I’m talking about what happens at 1:08 of the video you just linked.

It looks like,
air exchange up
H
l cube
H
l cube
H ~ fly ~ l cube (this is where i’m confused)
M
l cube
M
l cube
M
l cube
S

Any pointers? is this much easier than doing H ~ fly ~ m cube as you notated in the other thread? also, i notice when you go into flight, u never get the air string of M, H, l cube… it just goes straight into the M/l cube loop. not very adept at doing either way, but if my notation is right, on paper it looks as if this exchange is what i want to practice.

i just found a new corner loop with modok!
using modoks new ability to cancel airnormals into airdash he can perform
:d::h:xx:u:(jump/flycancel):h:xx:2p::df: land :d::h:… im not too sure how many reps are possible, ill try my best to record that combo and upload it later this day.

Hey! I was actually playing around with that yesterday!

I was able to get over 10 hits with it… You can also start it with an air H as well.

@Nos99
Yeah u can get more hits on that loop. i got 11 hits ending with the c.:h: but i forgot to chain into f+:h: and i was too lazy to record it again.

I started playing modok 2 weeks ago and all i can say is that ur posts have been very informative, keep up the good work

I was gonna make a vid of it when I got home from work today. But it looks like you beat me to it !

I was actually able to get over 750K damage using no meter at all with my team because of this loop!! Maybe with different assists I could get even more damage? I’ll try messing around with it later (I foresee some doom missiles into crazylegs lol)

This might also be a clue as to why they nerfed the startup to air H as well… We could probably get even more reps if air H was faster…

EDIT: I managed to squeeze 856,200 meterless damage out of the loop… Maybe we could get more?

With that, I must post this for the world to witness.

The funny thing is that I’m more impressive by the meter built in that combo. MODOK started with nothing, he had 2 Bars filling up by the end of the combo.

To be honest, it’s actual practical with modifications…

So Modok has an Unblockable ?
Is it just him or with an Assist ?
If so can someone link a Video ?

It also shows Akuma’s assist killing Cr. M.

Does that still happen?

Fortunately, no. Which is why I found my new assist for MODOK.

Just thought of something… Snot puddle can be hard to distance perfectly on the fly for the unblockablt… But what about tossing the snot over their heads so the puddle hits from behind? If it works, you’ll be able to do it from much closer, maybe even point-blank against some characters? I must try it when I get home from work lol

It would be another reason to never block low against upclose modok, so he can’t shoot a snot over your head haha

shooting the slime over opponent works on alot of characters, surprisingly. Most of the important ones, anyways. It actually goes over some characters standing block animation, too. I think I mentioned this in another thread, but I think that is something worth looking into and preserving on the MODOK boards. The work around to stand blocking avoiding this setup is that you can exploit the guard stun mechanics by making them block a cr.H followed by a lockdown assist of some sort, jump cancel the cr.H, addf, slime unblockable.

To clarify if you guys do not understand what I mean, in this game you usually cannot switch your guard animation until after you have left guard stun. You can switch your block to block incoming attacks, but your character will not visually change unless 1) they successfully block an attack requiring the alternate guard direction 2) they get hit or 3) block stun has ended or 4) x-factor. So, you make them block his low cr. H, the assist keeps them in their low profile guard stun, slime sails over their head and you get your unblockable attempt. Advancing guard beats this technique though, since they will push themselves towards the corner with each pushblock from MODOK/assists and probably be able to block the first phase (non low) of the slime. Only silver lining to that is that they are pushing themselves into corner though and MODOK is much more dominant against a cornered opponent.

Has anyone messed with Crumple tag’s to modok yet? I was trolling pretty good using crumple/modok swap, j.S, l.Cube, s.H, F.H , jamming bomb, reset. Problem I was having is, If i do the same thing with spencer, I don’t need a mixup to kill, just pump out a million damage to KO.

Don’t worry too much about that, focus on playing as MODOK.

You need to get use to his mobility than his combos IMO.

What are the ways to combo into a Jamming Bomb with Sentinel? I’ve played around with Modok and most of the time they flip out while Drones are still hitting.

I tried it w/ this combo in the corner

:d::h: IAD :m::s: j.:m::m::s: OTG:d::m:xx:d::db::b::s: j.:s: :d::db::b::l: :f:+:h:xx:d::db::b::l:( :f:+:h: and :a1:) :d::df::f::l: Dash up :f::d::df::s:

Is there any other practical combo to hit Jamming bomb consistently?

U can make the combo much simpler by calling drones when u do the first cr m otg . then u do fly s l cube then jamming bomb
