imo, switch A1/A2, make the health meters a bit brighter, and move X-Factor to the bottom next to the meter bar, just have the X and highlight the meter bar in red.
The meter bar having green-yellow on yellow is more of an issue honestly. Capcom, you add subtitles for people with hearing problems, but then you just basically go fuck the colorblind? Kind of mindboggling. Hopefully they fix this in a patch.
I can’t help but think of the glaring contrast between how Capcom handles things and how the Skull Girls developers did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98mRMY5JDeI#t=1m29s
I remember 1 person made the suggestion to have meters fill toward the center of the screen instead of away from because it would be easier to glance at the HUD to see how close to full it is than it would be at the edge of the screen. Spoilers: Meter fills towards the center so it’s easier to see at a glance.
Capcom doesn’t care how many people think it’s confusing or hard to see, or how hard black outfits on black stages are to see, they got your money when they wrote Marvel vs Capcom on the cover. Suckers.
For all the defenders of scamcom ask yourself this are you ok with this because you can’t do anything about it or are you ok with this because you constantly like being the guy (or gal) that’s step on because you think its useless to voice your opion to a company?
Capcom be trollin fans even without knowing they just did nowadays:wtf:
The first one. It’s really a minor inconvenience at the most.
One month from now, we’re all gonna forget about the HUD. Honestly, this is nothing we, as a community, can’t adjust to.
While this is technically true. It’s equally fair to say that we shouldn’t have adjust to something like this.
Why not? Capcom made the game and designed their way. We, as the consumer, buy the game and get used to the way it’s laid out. It’s not just Capcom, but games with terrible camera angles, shitty music, huge gaps of difficulty, etc. are things the gamers get used to over time.
It took me a while to get used to parrying after playing SF2. Took me a while to get used to focus attacks after SF3. In a few short months, XFactor has become not only a staple, but a core game mechanic in Marvel vs Capcom. These examples are the more major adjustments players had to get used to than a freakin’ HUD. C’mon guy, assist 1 is at the bottom and assist 2 is at the top. Life bars of the assists are shaded but not totally ineligible.
If everyone kept ‘voicing their opinion’ rather than ‘dealing with it’ over every single thing, they’re missing out on enjoying the game to its fullest because “it’s not the way they would have designed it.”
If you have to adjust to an HUD, then by default it’s not a very good one. Since the point of an HUD is to help clarify all the actions going on. Maybe they have the old HUD on the disc as DLC.
I dunno, it’s like getting a new pair of shoes. Feels weird at first, and for a while you kinda miss your old ones. But than you break 'em in, walk around in 'em and you forget all about the old ones. Least, that’s how I see it.
I like this reference.
Looks more like the new pair of shoes that gives you a bunch of callous and eventually you just get used to the pain. It’s not like the old HUD was any good, but it was serviceable.
You need to learn to pick better shoes or keep the receipt.
If the HUD isn’t clearly relaying information as it should, it isn’t working.
Lol @ all the anti feedback people. Feedback is how improvements and progress are made. Pointing out the camera angle is bad is how you get it improved in the sequel. Pointing out XF was too strong is how it got improved in UMvC3. Feedback is a good thing.
I’m not “anti- feedback”. I’m trying to remain optimistic.
I dunno, broham. It’s just that I’ve seen this kinda situation before, in which they make a cosmetic change that people are against at first, but once people get used to it it’s not really a problem anymore. I mean… it’s kinda weird looking but I’m sure you’ll adjust.
Thanks man!
It’s more than cosmetic if you’re using the wrong assist on accident, it’s kind of a big deal. I know for a fact that’s going to mess me up in the heat of the moment.
I personally See where your coming from but with time you’ll get used to it. Thats all hes saying. at first it’ll mess a lot of people up but after the first 2 weeks everyone should be alright
I still mess up when I can’t call my single assist with either assist button. . . probably a personal thing.
Yeah, Gabu said pretty much what I was meaning to say: these problems you have right now will be completely forgotten in a month. You’ll adapt like the badass you are!
Thanks, bro. I suck at wording things lol.
Its easy…with words =P
I HONOSTLY DO AGREE that they should add the original HUD as DLC because I do like how it looks.
I love the way this HUD looks, but it could have been functional too.
I am going to play the devil’s advocate and try to rationalize this thing:
-
maybe new players need to be told “HEY, this is the character your currently playing!” before it was just 3 plain bars with no distinction between who’s currently tagged in and who’s not. sure, people assume the top is first, but maybe that wasn’t good enough.
-
the giant X actually is necessary for beginners. Have you ever tried to teach someone this game? Generally, they will finish the match without popping unless you remind them.
-
As far as the backwards assist orders, I really can’t think of anything.
