This game is way too similar to SF4

Seth Killian once said that because they have moved on to 3D ,one of the advantages of 3d over 2d was that they can change the animations and models a bit in newer games unlike in 2d where you would need new sprites… but all i see for the SF characters are a new ink filter or something, animations are all the fuking same … heck even some of the new moves just reuse stuff

OP forgot the horrible damage scaling.

I couldn’t ever get into SF4, I really don’t see how the two games are alike other than appearance—which I would argue to the extent of “if its not broken, why fix it?”.

As much as people seem to dislike the gems, I find they add a certain element to the game/customization which makes it a lot more interesting and does open up many possibilities for the cast of characters.

ITT: We bash newbies

In all seriousness, the game uses a lot of the same models from SF4. That’s the first strike of resemblance there is. The engines similar to SF4 because it’s a modified version of it I believe. It works out a lot better. It plays better in a sense that they give you a lot of creativity in offense as opposed to limited match up playstyles in Apology Edition 2012 IMO.

Every game has hard links and stuff. The only similarities is that they left in input leniency and reused a few models. But everything else is pretty much new in terms of actual game play and stuff.

It’s basically SFIV with too many mechanics.

SFxT has a lot of similarities to SF4 in movement and balance philosophy (to its detriment).

$200 spent over how many years? For how many hours of quality playtime? It’s not “outrages” at all, actually. I can’t think of another way I could have spent that $200 better.

ignorance

Are we seriously going to get mad about Capcom re-using models now, when they basically re-used the Alpha sprites for over a decade? Would this actually be a better game if Ryu had a new model and animations just for the sake of it?

Hell, the best SF games have always had re-used sprites from a previous game, and I don’t think that’s an accident: re-using sprites/models saves development time to devote to new characters, and also allows you to refine existing elements rather than reinventing the wheel every time. CvS2, MvC2, the million iterations of SF2 - reusing assets is a tradition in fighting games.

How can anybody be upset? That’s a small price tag compared to what a lot of people here may have spent.

Whatever the story and justifcation is, they’ve changed some junk in the software’s infrastructure from SF4 to SSF4 to put in new stuff. SSF4 was then patchable for AE update add on. The disc versions are just for those who don’t have the first game and ***SSF4 never came out in arcades. ***By the time SSF4AE came out on disc, it’s a huge bargain for people who skipped out on the first two iterations or just weren’t playing them back then. This is also apparently for PC gamers who waited for updates since SF4 because there was no SSF4 for the PC platform.

Why are you guys mad at the price tags? Most of these things are still optional. Nobody’s forcing you to pay extra to play the games.

There’s so many World of Warcraft players floating around in the down low, I’m sure they have spent a few short hundred over months to play a game that is only playable if you keep feeding it cash. Do you own the game? No. you paid for the physical disc with software and THEN you pay for an online service to use those discs you bought to play on their servers. MIND BLOWN.

How much have people spent playing SF4 in the arcades exclusively? 100 yen = $1.25 iirc for a long time. OMG CAPCOM’S JIPPNIG US!

This game isn’t close to sf4 at all. you get blown up for having that mindset in this game.

I personally feel this is not close to SF4 besides graphics. It plays much differently and once you delve into the game, you realize that a lot of your SF4 tactics aren’t going to work. I prefer this game over SF4 in my opinion.

It’s not SF4. It’s a new (watered down severly) game. But I like it. I like SF4 better but this game is cool.

Watered down SF4…I don’t even…

LMFAO! I was wrong. I was wrong.Stupidity doesn’t stop at Rick Santorum.

Explain watered down for me?

Comparing this game to CvS2 is a joke. SFxT is NOTHING at all like CvS2.

The game is clearly a retooled SF4. Same basic framework. New mechanics and juggle system slapped on top. Capcom did enough to make it feel different, but the game is still CLEARLY derived from SF4. There are some points in matches that seem ripped directly out of a SF4 match.

That doesn’t say anything for whether the game is good or not… it’s different enough from SF4 to avoid the comparison for the most part… but saying it ISN’T still pretty similar to SF4 is kind of a joke too.

aw shit here it is. I don’t wanna start a fight lol. Read what HAV wrote.

did I say that? Read again.

The things that make SF4 the game it is are not in this game.

No focus attacks, no FADC, no ultra combo comeback mechanic, frame data favors aggression instead of turtling, the low execution bar has been raised in SFxT.

I respect your opinion but I cant really agree with you. The only thing that feels similar at times is footsies, then again we’ve had two weeks with the game.

LOL it keeps getting better!

Yes, You did. rofl.
