This Game is Horrible...Online

I have both versions. The PS3 version would usually disconnect after character select whereas the XBL version tends to just lose connections at the matchup screen (aka right before you’d go to character selection).

Wow you guys must have serious internet problems, because I played a buncha matches last night (like over 3 hours) with hardly any connection problems. If u don’t get into a match try again. If you are DCing over and over again reboot the game. It’s not that hard. I don’t see why it would take as long as the OP is claiming to get in a match, I’ve never had that much trouble.

It’s easy to say that but it isn’t the case for me. Every other online game I have works fine. SF:HD needs a goddamn patch and quick!

Online fighting games is an oxymoron.

What? No, thanks. I know it’s not PSN. 360 was the beta console for this game, and it was going to be better because of that. However, Backbone still managed to have a lackluster online experience for both consoles. Blame bad programming not Sony, fanboy.

funny thing is you still ended up with the beta in the end

It isn’t perfect by any means, but your bad experiences are not representative of the the majority of HDR players as far as I’m aware. Of the problems that are there, certainly some, if not all, are due to problematic coding, but from what I’ve heard, the PSN version does seem to see some of these problems at a greater frequency than 360. Ideally, the sloppy mistakes wouldn’t have been there on release, but from my experience, the good is outweighing the bad online.

Very true indeed. To anyone outside the SRK/Fighting game community this game is a complete glitch / crash fest (I dare you find another online game that is as buggy and crash ladin as this).
But to most of us here (including myself) this game is gold. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Everyone in this thread is horribly unlucky because I haven’t experience 80% of the glitches you guys were talking about. I live on Guam and everyone’s ping is at least +150 and this game plays great. Yeah, at about 200+, I start to notice the rollbacks and the occasional disconnect, but you guys are just really unlucky.

I use the start costume all the time and it’s never caused me to drop out (Seriously, I choose Guile’s white costume, 100% of the time).

The only glitch I get constantly (100% of the time now) is the no audio glitch, but the game plays so buttery smooth online that it doesn’t bother me so much. There’s gotta be something I can do to stop/reduce how often the no audio glitch happens.

I’ve found if it continually DC’s on PSN, to just sign off, and then sign back on. That fixes it for me just fine. I’ve encountered maybe 1 glitch too. Those that complain about the PSN version are blowing it out of proportion, if it seems that its that bad, then don’t play it, but you are exaggerating the issue.

That’s also why i only play ranked, not for the rank, but because its faster and i don’t have to wait for 5 games to play 1.

Yeah I’ve stopped playing online. I want to play against good players I know, so I go into a player room with them and get disconnected within 10-15 matches (and often sooner than that). I don’t want to wait to play just to get disconnected, so I go to the ranked section where I can play constantly but have to choose between quick match, where the players are usually decent but the connections can be really bad, or custom match, where the connections are good but the players almost categorically suck. So, no thanks.

Unfortunately, the game is doa in LA even though it’s available at some arcades on 360 setups. Before the game came out, I didn’t care about whether the online experience would be good because I assumed LA players would meet up at arcades, but they’re not. The result is that I’m just not playing HDR at all.

Couldn;t even wait for the second page before pulling the fanboy card eh?

We should get a set-up at one of the hotel rooms for regionals. Or are they gonna have it at Denjin?

I’m on PSN and for some reason it got really bad for me starting last night. Usually when I search on Scoreboard Matches, I’d get a nice list of players looking for challenges. But yesterday and today, the search function (Even on the broadest settings) yielded zero to one lobby while the Friendly Matches search yielded a page-full. I had to use the Quick Match option on the Scoreboard Matches just to find somebody, and even then half the time the game would randomly disconnect during the VS screen.

Friendly Matches are a bit better. I can get one or two rounds through until the lobby tells me that “The Connection Has Been Lost” and then the whole lobby vanishes.

I think it needs to be more proactive than this. For example, I live really close to you, and I never go to arcades. Mostly because I’m lazy, I think. But I think if you set up official, informal formal gatherings (ha), I think lots of people would show up. Like even Fatboy from SD and stuff. That was the beauty of SHGL from long ago. It wasn’t that it was back when arcades were popular, you just KNEW that every Friday night was an “official” gathering… everyone WOULD be there, so it was good for everyone to go. I think that’s what Keystone II does for NorCal.

I doubt we can achieve something like Keystone right now, but I think we can start small. If you set up something in SoCal where we can get lots of good ST players out to play, I’d totally be down. Just gotta PM them or e-mail them or something to get the word out. Definitely don’t rely on people just hearing about, gotta be proactive about it.

I’d totally be down if someone set something up on a weekend coming up.

I haven’t had it as bad as people have stated in here but I’d be lying if I said there were no glitches on or offline.

I can recall random disconnects, lifebar/win icon/username glitches online and just yesterday, I was in training mode and the game just decided to say fuck it and restart.

…Bring on SF4…please.

this like the wierdest one to date, when the game started on a online i went stright into the DIZZY anamation and, i could not shake it off the other player had to hit me out of it and i have been playing SF for years and have seen some really strange things this took the cake

Your opponent must have entered the secret insta-dizzy move. I’m working on perfecting that move. :wgrin:

dude, don’t be sharing that kinda stuff.

This is probably the last version of SF2 we’ll be able to play on a console so I’m trying my best to enjoy it, warts and all, while it’s popular and there is a lot of competition online. I don’t care for SF4 so I’m not looking forward to the player base fragmentation that’s coming next month.
