This forum is still ass

I don’t know if discussion has gotten better per say. The big difference now is that people dickride and have more freedom to say dumb shit without dudes clowning them.

Character discords are okay to ass depending on the character. You can barely get good match up info on them. Oh sure they got combos and “set ups” but that’s about as how far that goes.

Fucking blows TBH.

CAN WE HAVE MORE DRAWING CONTESTS PLEASE???

You can do them but a lot of the guys who were into them have moved on while telling themselves discord is better than SRK.

The reality is that a lot of those people basically aged out. A lot of old SRKers (including MvC2 scene) is still on the same bullshit they were on back when it was all on SRK. They just go do it in different places.

Its bizarrely hilarious.

The discussion overall has weakened I miss those threads when they talked about game design, what makes this certain game good, what’s bad about it in depth mechanics discussion and match ups and yeah we also had the bad apples like VS threads and flame wars that didn’t go anywhere but those at least made up for good laughs.

Nowadays if you want discuss something those conversations are going to be over in an instant either cause the other person don’t want to can’t say anything about the topic or it immidiately feels insulted calling you a hater and what not.

Oh man, I missed those.

Nah, I don’t think so.

Unless you’re on Twitter.

Real talk, people complain a lot about Discord, but Twitter was the greatest mistake.

The whole thing is atrocious for anything FGC related besides quick promos of upcoming events.

Tech? It’ll get buried under all kinds of trash and retweets of anime tiddies.

Meaningful discussion? On 140 characters?

A sense of community? Nope. Unless you call dickriding a community.

The top player dickriding is the thing that gets me. I get liking to watch players that are good, but the celebrity worship if these people is really off-putting

I remember being with P. Gorath at evo 2011 and some dude asked him to sign his MvC3 guide because he loved watching Gorath on the WNF streams.

Gorath didn’t stop clowning on this dude the rest of evo. Lol

What gets me you don’t see that in the actual events. In the events I been to guys like Jwong and Yipes are treated like regular dudes.

Evo turned goofy though. People trying to get autographs from top players and pictures with Maximillian.

:joy:

At 2012 there was a line to meet Madcatz sponsored players. Shit was maaaaad dumb. All those little newblettes wanting their “fight sticks” signed by Daigo.

The only person I’ve met who has their arcade stick signed and not come off as a complete tool was Preppy. He had his stick signed by all the OG’s. And not just marvel but from the FGC as a whole.

I have a playmat like that from the first PTQ I went to. I was just excited to do a road trip and had it signed by all the bros.

At least for M:TG, those were way better times. A lot of the modern fanciness hasn’t replaced the joy of one good ass road trip with friends.

Sonicfox and their fursona

Jesus dude would have been roasted back in 2002.

Playing cvs2 at super arcade or arcade inifinity shit would have been done.

But eh. I liked that srk is an online player haters ball

When I was at Toryuken a couple years ago, Wong was there and was basically just sitting by himself playing a game on his phone a lot. Nobody was really messing with him there, and I almost kinda of felt bad for him because he liked kind of lonely actually lol. But that isn’t an Evo sized event so that may have b been part of it.

I missed avatars, avatar contests, prem avatars. I was attached to avatars haha. SRK had this sense of humor that couldn’t be found anywhere else and it shined through avatars. Like “black” + “nerdy” but not overly tryhard and corny like many other forums with similar themes. Don’t know if that makes any sense.
Anyways, some oldies I had saved that survived old hard drives:

Dude was out of control with his swag.

His “How can she slap” av with Chun Li and E. Honda
Was the first av I could think of but wasn’t anywhere on my old drives

He posts in the ST Facebook group. Should hit him up and see if I can catch some of those old AVs.

Image mish-mash had some fucking legends. Shatta (rip), Orange Cat, Sasmasta, debs, gumz, streak, omega viscant/quiche, yeah dood, I could go on for a while.

I really miss my DJ Mickey Mouse avatar, debs made me.

My claim to fame with avatars were making the “stairs” avatars a thing (Valaris has the best one) and the SRK NWO avatars. While I didn’t personally make them I made them a trend on here.
