This Feels Different... OLD Abel Match Theory Thread

the timing is generally the same but there are a few chars that are different. my brother mains claw and he is downright nasty… IMO claw is the hardest of all the characters in the game to hit with the ultra after a grounded c.fp. The window is really, really small

pro-tip: standing far strong owns Vega’s pokes for some reason, leaves him with his slide and c.mk neither of which are as dangerous as his crouching strong. and if you start a combo into ultra and he has roughly half health, always use your ultra… the mask will most likely pop off before the last hit of your ultra so even a half power ultra combo does 600+ to him

This is very interesting. In my local group we have a pretty good Claw, so this will be useful

another stupid Vega thing. his slide is unsafe if blocked early, except it isn’t. He will duck clean under crouching jab and crouching strong… he is incredibly short during his slide, so my go-to punish in this situation has become a reversal fierce TT… which is fine because Abel’s vortex is most intense after a TT

^ if you ever block slide fucking cr.fp that shit. you will get both hits even if it looks like you are too far. found tihs out long when sf4 was released on arcade only when i used to play with arlieth a lot.

About Ultra:

Someone said to ultra when they are at your head level. That guide has always worked for me.

wat

rog, ryu, viper, rufus, you have to do earlier than you think

sagat, gief, later

honda is some retarded timing that nobody can hit, ever

mostly everyone else can be judged around shoulder level

yeah and my point was i found out that to ultra claw after a cr.hp is to input the ultra almost super immediately (id swear i did the ultra immediately though like straight after sending him up)

so yeah imma test that in a bit

update on claw testing:

so after a few tests hitting ultra after a cr.hp… i can say that my original findings arent that true LOL but yeah the timing is really strict against claw and sometimes i even felt like i’m doing it hella early and hit while sometimes i tried to do it early and missed haha. so yeah

as for what busta said, i tested that and yeah you can cr.hp a blocked slide from afar but not at max range(aka two blocks in training mode or you can try by recording the slide and cr.hp it once and stay where you are and block the next slide)

so yeah i gotta get ready for school lmao

Guys, I’m not sure if this has been discoverd already.
We can SAFE-JUMP out of Chun-Li’s SBK:
Here is the clip I took from the original vid.

I think first is to shoulder throw Chun, then do a whiff s.jab, then cross up jump mk.
So if Chun wake up doing SBK, it’ll wiff and we can punish her after that.
If Chun wake up doing nothing, she’ll get kicked.

nice find!

It’s a 6-frame move. Of course you can safe jump it.

lol i just re-read what ahdee posted, and yeah, he said it like he thought that its not possible before this to safe jump an ex sbk… i always bait an ex SBK and ultra that.

i guess i said nice find because its nice to know stuff like after a throw, whiff a s.lp and cross up etc for the timing. i dont use those kinda things personally but i can see it being useful for others.

Great find AhDee! He’s probably got lots of interesting comments in his vids. Wish I could read Japanese. :frowning:

Ask Hfz :stuck_out_tongue:

wats the best way to punish the first kick of Guiles sweep?

Focus crumple or block the first kick and TT the 2nd. (i think)

edit: holy shit wrong thread, my badddddd

can u FA crumple every time? cuz it seems like i try but i never get it to level 2
and can u regular lp TT each time? wat if theyre at max range?

pulp-fiction

training mode mutha fucker

do you use it

/pulp-fiction

im not home so how bout i ask on SRK?
brain motha fucka, do u use it?

Can we keep this shit out of the theory thread please ? there’s a “simple questions” thread for a reason. I doubt “how do I punish Guiles sweep” counts as a game breaking strategy that needs to be discussed in any great depth
