Third party PS4 padhack options

I preordered a FC4 and I should have it sometime in May.
I can let you all know then

I haven’t tried it with my FC4, but by the looks of it I believe that this is the switch that will work.

It looks like you need to remove the original switch and extend the 3 original points to this new switch. I wanted to try it but it’s a pain to remove the original switch from the PCB.

You technically don’t really need to remove the original switch. Since the switch has 2 positions: “not connected” and “connected”, you can leave the stock switch in the “not-connected” position, solder your new switch to the points underneath between the two points that would be “connected” when moving the original slider-switch.

Keep a note that, while the stock slider-switch has 3 solder points, only 2 of them are actually useful.

Thanks for this thread. I’ve managed to upgrade two of my 360 sticks to PS4

My Versus Series SH

and my Atrox

You are 100% correct. I extended 3, and 1 to a dpdt switch that was already installed on my case and I did not have to remove the original switch from the PCB. I only used a dpdt switch because I currently don’t have any other kind and like I said, this was already mounted on the case.

It is finally a fully functional quad-mod and both switches have a purpose now :smiley: Good way to start a week.

I know… I know… the hot glue :s

Yes, those are the switches I was talking about.

So, it is possible to use one of those to keep the switch outside of the case.

Thanks @poisonmar and @FreedomGundam

Hi guys. I tried cutting the Xrd pad’s PCB for a padhack, but I ended up having problems with connecting the USB wire. When I plug it into my computer, it does not detect any controller. There doesn’t seem to be any USB malfunction either. I also checked the controller before cutting it down and it was connecting fine before.

Could somebody please help me with some pointers to troubleshooting the problem? I have a multimeter and have also took some pictures of the work from different angles.

Gummo do u happen to have the pin out for the mkx pdp pad?

Dumb question: is this the Hori FC4 people are using to padhack?

That one says it’s not available til May… are people importing them from Japan right now?

Yes to both. I got mine from play asia.

Just finished padhacking the HCF4 and gummo’s photo needs a correction;

When the Shoulder button switch is in the L1/L2&R1/R2 position

La = L1
Lb = L2
Ra = R1
Rb = R2

Everythung else was correct and now it’s working great in my '96 Namco stick w/Hori Hayabusa + Kuro buttons, now just waiting for May 26th.

I think did the same mistake for when it’s in the other position too.

Do you mean the “1 is low” table in this image?

Yeah the labeling is flipped around, whether ‘1’ on that sw. is a logic low/high idk I didn’t measure. No knock on the pinouts the information @Gummo provides makes it so much easier for the rest of us. Shoutouts to @poisonmar for dpdt suggestion and his feedback.

Is there an easy way to have the FC4 work with Madcatz 360 PCbs? I have the first TE x2 and also used the street fighter pads in my Mas Sticks.

Please put me on. I know a way around a soldering iron, but not really with this technical stuff. I’m just relatively good with soldering and following directions. What is this high/low stuff that is talked about in the OP for the HFC4? I already have a ps3/360 stick. Also have an xbone stick. I’d want to add ps4 functionality to it. I don’t need the pad to ever be in ps3 mode. What do I do? From reading, I have to make the pad be “held high”? No idea what that means.

EDIT : Also, IMP switches can’t be used for these? The sticks I have absolutely cannot be drilled into under any circumstances!

Don’t worry about the voltage on the switches. Since you’re not removing them, just put the pad in PS4 mode and glue it in place. Yes it can be used with imp as can all USB devices.

Doesn’t matter what pcb you solder to as long as it’s common ground.

Sorry, I meant 360 Madcatz PCBs and the ps4 FC4.

It’s the same answer, just do the regular padhack to it, though if you’re using the TE PCB it’ll be easier to wire the buttons from the FC4 to the button distribution board rather than to where those buttons connect to on the TE’s actual PCB.
