Third party PS4 padhack options

If building an empty shell from scratch with the goal being primarily PS4 functionality (and not any kind of future modding), is the consensus pick the FC4?

Yes

At the moment, I say its your best bet.

The limited edition Guilty Gear PS4 pad is (at the time of posting this) THE BEST.

However the Hori FC4 is much easier to find…

Cheers, thanks guys.

I’ll have to pick up a couple more of these. Because if I can simple but this in a project box with UD USB decoder and use it. It will be much more helpful running the local tournaments later when the switch to next gen fully takes over. And this way no one in the scene would be left out

I apologize if there is a better place to ask this. I currently have a TE2, modded with a Crossbone TE2 and a PS360+ working well. I’d like to add PS4 to the mix with the FC4, but I’m really unclear on what all I would have to do to take my dual-mod to a tri-mod. I don’t need auto-sensing system changes or anything since the TE2 opens with one button, I can easily just open the case and flip a switch to enable PS4 play. Any help would be appreciated (or direct me to where I can get help).

I have the a similar plan of @bloodstrike‌, I have a XBOX 360 and a PS4, I just bought PS360+ and this FC4, If someone made already this mod it would be great if you share your experiences :slight_smile: I’m pretty sure this is possible it is just I don’t want to make mistakes because getting these toys in my country is TOO expensive. THANKS!!!

Has anyone modded “Evil Controllers - Steel Sticker Bomb Master Mod Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4” ? It’s darn expensive, but I need analog sticks on my project, and it might be cool to have rapid fire mods built in. Although probably way cheaper to wire up my own rapid mod into my case :

It’s just a ds4 with a rapid fire mod and custom graphics. Better off just buying a regular ds4 and a rapid fire kit separate.

What do you need analog for? The hfc4 has a switch for changing between ls/dp/rs. Albeit they are all digital.

@‌Gummo I got the same question with @RLBURNSIDE‌ on the Xbox One Pad Hack thread

I’ve recently had the opportunity to install both the Hori Fighting Commander 4 pcb and the GG pcb in different sticks.

The Hori pcb has a strange quirk when running on a PC in PS4 mode - the R2 button (3K) activates as both a digital and analogue signal which means it’s a bit of a pain to get working on some games, but switching to PS3 mode fixes this.

The GG pcb has a small typo on it - instead of saying ‘left’ it says ‘lift’ :stuck_out_tongue:

The DS4 does the same thing on pc.

Weird… I wonder why the GG pcb doesn’t do it.

I have a ps3 version of Hori TTT2 stick. (picture)

  1. I was wondering if I can ‘turn off’ the stock pcb and use the FC4 one instead. I just want the ps3/ps4 compatibility.
  2. And can I use the switches that my stick currently has? For example: Use the DP/LS/RS like the pad and the START/SELECT for the PS3/PS4 selection, since the others will have no use. (picture)

I wish the L1/L2/L3/R3 selection were the same as my stick :pensive:

@LRoque‌

  1. You can’t really “turn off” a PCB; it should be either powered on but not connected to anything (buttons/joystick), or disconnected/removed completely and replaced with another
  2. Going with what you’re asking above, if you’re removing the old PCB entirely, you may or may not be able to use the existing switches depending on the PCB setup.

That being said, ANYTHING is possible in this hobby providing you have the time, money, tools and take the time to truly understand what you’re doing.

TE 2 does the same thing as well.

Hi all, this is probably dumb question but I want to make sure it will work before I buy the FC4. A few years ago I got a TE2 PS3 stick, and I dual-modded it using an Impv2 and an xbox360 pad. Now I have a PS4 and want to try Guilty Gear Xrd. Can I buy a FC4 and connect it to the Imp in place of the original TE2 PS3 PCB? I don’t have PS3 now, so I don’t care about PS3 compatibility.

Also, what will happen to the PS4 home button? Can I have it mapped to select+start the same way the xbox home button got mapped by the Imp? There is a PS4 home button on the stick itself, but the way it’s connected is a bit tricky (for me). I guess if I don’t mind breaking the old PS3 PCB, I should be able to get at the button and solder it to the FC4 home button, but it seems safer to me if I could just press select+start on the PS4 the way I can now for the xbox360.

Thanks very much.

@GreyQ‌
See my post above, sort of.

Since you say you’re going to be replacing the stock PCB (at least in functionality) with the Hori FC4Pro, you essentially have 2 choices if you want to keep the existing Home button on your PS3 TE:

  1. Keep the stock PCB connected (only Vcc and Gnd), but also connect the Home contact with the new sets of PCBs (essentially tri-modding only the Home button); (I personally feel that this method is too messy, and you’ll still need to power an entire PCB that stays unused)
  2. Remove the stock PCB, cut up some perf/proto board, solder in a switch, and “make” your own new PCB replacement (My method of choice; I did this with all my Brawlstick and TvC cases)

On the question of Sl+St=Home, since that’s a functionality of the ImpV2, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if you connected it in with the “Basic SSG setup”; it should still work as intended.

@FreedomGundam‌

Thanks, I just ordered the FC4. I think I understand your options #1 and #2, but I’m not very handy, so I think I’ll just try to use Imp’s home/guide mapping. That could make the top look a little cleaner anyway.
