messed around with some shit in training mode with magz and im…came up with some new combos (the magneto one just being a variation of something recently seen from WC marvel) to maximize their cheapness even more. I took another situation where you generally either can’t get the most out of it OR you can try to reset to get the most, but then there’s a risk the OP will block it.
I’ll probably explain/show it after seasons beatings. though I did successfully pull of the magneto one today on xbl.
I’m more and more trying to eliminate the situations where I’d use a reset to gain the most out of a hit (300%)…and instead use a specific combo to gain the advantage.
also, free “resets” by means of IM inf in corner, snapout, guardbreak, repeat is dirty (though nothing new…but nice if you can execute it perfectly ;])

So I had this really awesome idea last night and it works!!! as to how practical it can be is definitely questionable though.
when you wiff a push block a few things can happen. If there is nothing on the screen to block and you’re holding back, you will get a dash back if push block. Back+2p = dash back. If there is something to block on the screen and you push while standing, you will get a s.fp. While blocking low and you wiff a push block, you get a c.fp.
Due to button buffers, you can switch a wiffed fp for a wiffed lk and still get a push block.
Here’s the trick. If you hit lk, kara 2p’s you will change your wiff animation to a lk instead of a FP. What the kara does is a few things. obviously if you wiff the push block, lk comes out which reduces the wiff FP animation time heavily. If they actually make contact with you, you get the push block. Lastly and pretty important, on block the kara 2p’s input will not register a mp or a fp. It will only register a lk so you don’t have to worry about other normals becoming active so its also a great combo\block string starter as you can still chain if you want.
I haven’t tested this part yet but this method should also tech throws because a wiffed pushblock can tech a throw. All though you’re hitting LK first so that can possibly negate the throw window but we’ll see. Still needs to be tested. As far as the basic stuff above about the LK, kara 2p’s push block, I tested it a good bit today and it does work. Kinda awkward but it reduces the risk of push blocking a bit.
Its a new technique so it does deserve a name. I think kara push sounds appropriate. Since LK can be used, RH should be able to be used as well so characters like storm and especially IM should like the technique.
Also found a new psylock infinite against a standing cable in the corner. s.rh, SJC, TK FP fireball, falling sj.fp, delay, falling sj.rh, dash neutral s.rh, repeat.
random trick, you can negative edge an alpha counter. Sometimes we get baited on alphas and when that happens, you wiff an assist call. When you hit and hold the assist button, nothing is triggered. However it does store a negative edge and I find that’s the best way to get the negative edge assist button w\o actually calling a helper first.
marvel is just too much fun!!! every time there is a problem, more than likely there is creative solution. I get baited on my pushes sometimes, wiff a FP and the games over after something like that and now with this new method even though its harder, wiffing a FP is gone.
I’ll be messing with that kara push hmmm. it should really help out online where you have so many frames being pushed around and the game rewriting the past and shit.

easiest setup for storm rejump infinite in corner that i’ve found so far(prolly old)
Launch, sj fk,airdash df fp,fk, then just clp, jump into the infinite.
this one seems to be much easier than the clk,clp then jump variations as it puts your opponent at a great height and good distance for storms re-jump chain.
If u combine this setup with the ones from the first post, you can get around 95% dmg no meter using an assist+the infinite.
I’ve been working on some troll combos (for embarrassing scrubs, lulz) with Cable.
Pretty much anything into lk, mk, xxSentinel Missles, Command throw.
That and you can cancel his QCF+K into Time Flip. The super only hits once (which kind of makes it more embarrassing, if you ask me), but you can tiger knee Hyper Viper Beam after it hits and it combos.
I’ll usually do some variation of j.HK, lk, lk, qcf+lk, Time Flip xx Tiger Knee Hyper Viper Beam.
You can make this especially stylish with Sentinel assist.

Makes me wonder if any setups with Magnetic Shockwave and other supers that stay on the screen after you DHC are possible.
hmm, perhaps there are some similar ways to do it with other chars. I generally try the OTG typhoon connection off of a DHC from psys air combo to superxxhail
perhaps if mags is second you can do the same psy combo (though maybe combo them a bit higher), DHC to mags, and then framekill to storm for something. though I would think someone would’ve already tried that with msp. hmm

I tested the kara push a bit more today and it fucking techs throws!!! but I don’t know why it would let you do that, its pretty strange. If you try to do lp, kara fp really fast to tech a throw, it doesn’t work. However by doing lk, kara 2p’s it does.
I know in mvc2 you can actually piano a super by doing it really fast and that would tech a throw but that is not what I’m mentioning here. Above, both methods are 2 inputs. In the first one its LP then FP. In the second one its LK then LP+FP. So lp, kara FP won’t tech a throw cause its 2 inputs but lk, kara 2p’s will tech a throw cause its 2 inputs?
Its very freaky and there is something going on with how the game is registering this particular input. So not only can you tech a throw, you can simultaneously throw a poke to stop the throw attempt if its slightly off.
Even while SJ-ing\NJ-ing you can be in a jump state, hold dwnbck, lk, kara 2p’s. This will poke with a lk, push block if you’re timing is off and you get a block or tech a throw. Not only does it seems applicable on the ground but in the air, it seems to have the same effect.
so eczangief helped me out with the kara push and we added another OS on top of it by calling an assist with it. lk, kara 2p’s+assist. So on wiff push block, you will trigger an assist call. As to how practical that is, is definitely situational and depends on the team you have. I can see you getting double snapped if baited but I also see it being useful in some spots like in the corner.
Also, you can combine the kara push block with actual specials. For instance, psylock can do qcf, block directions, kara push with lk\rh.
on wiff instead of lk\rh, you get a psyblade which can be turned into a super then you can DHC out. You still get the push block and you also still get a tech throw. This is more character specific and I’m sure other characters have specials that can be used with the kara push.
I keep forgetting to try that shit out.
and yeah…seems that OR assist glitch result is ONLY with dhalsim throwing strider. I tried several other characters as the thrower and several more as the throwee. everyone either gets the weird “suck to the ground” glitch or the “wakeup in midair” glitch (psylocke gets both, 1 for each throw) but strider so far is the only one who gets the “frozen in midair” glitch.

yeah that shit hurts. some characters (like anakaris) die from just the tempest alone lol. match start cr.HP+IM, sj.FP, add.FPxxMT, dead anakaris in like 1.5 seconds.
