Things you just don't understand about ST

How come when I’m Ryu, cr.mk xx hadoken always connects into 2hits, whereas it never when done after the overhead ? It doesn’t seem to be a matter of distance imo…

Actually, Blanka doesn’t have to be near the corner. If you land a super on Blanka in the middle of the screen, you can do a kara slide into upkicks to land the additional 2 hits.

It does connect after the Overhead but only on “fat” characters like Gief or Hawk. It is a matter of distance, but the distance has to do with the size of the opponent’s blue hitbox, and also has to do with frame advantage. Gief and Hawk have wide hitboxes, so the fireball reaches them before the frame advantage runs out, but with other characters they can block right after the frame advantage runs out, cuz their hitboxes are smaller.

If the Overhead is not done at point blank range tho, even Gief and Hawk can block the fireball after the cr Forward.

I am pretty sure this is not correct. The moves are cancellable up to a certain frame - which varies from game to game.* The glitch is that this is extended if the move causes hit/blockstun, till impact freeze ends. The super move cancel window is longer, that’s why some moves are super cancellable but not special cancellable. However, supercancel does not have the impact freeze glitch, which is the reason why they are much harder to cancel on hit.

*well, it is longer in ST, only, in fact. It is an engine thing.

It depends on distance, but if the cr.kick is not the first attack in the combo, then the enemy will recover one frame faster. All links are harder to do in the mid of a combo for this reason.

Can you cancel cr.roundhouse into shoryureppa?, i’ve never seen a top ken player super canceling cr.roundhouse into ken’s supa.

On hit, the super will whiff completely, so it is mostly useless to do so. If the enemy has 0 life, then it might help, in some rare situations. One might mess up and get some crazy kick instead, also. I think Ken players already have their share of hit-confirms, SRK-installs, combos and links to worry about before wondering about some use for cr.RH xx Super.

ken would be stuck with his pants down on hit or block, unless you’re being fancy w/ chipping them out

You can cancel any special-cancellable move into a super, as far as I know. Although, like previously mentioned, not sure why you would want to do this. Only reason you would do this is for chip, but then, why wouldn’t you just go for a simple super for chip, instead of risking an execution error by doing cr.RH xx super?

how many unblockables exist? as far as I know only air hurricane is unblockable in the 1st active frame ( seems the engine decides the blocking 1 frame later)

It’s unblockable 50% of the time, when you land it on the first active frame, according to Damdai.

Another unblockable I know is sim’s RH slide after noogie, working on Ryu and Ken. There is no way to block this cross down, but a reversal DP will hit the slide backwards, in a weird animation. See at 37 seconds :

If i’m not mistaken, that unblockable thing is Old chars exclusive, isn’t it? Anyway, I know that O.Blanka’s Horizontal roll has that property as well, since it hits on the first frame too.

You need an … exotic … set up for that to make sense. Something like this:

lol… i was talking about to use cr.roundhouse into super for chip damage guys, next time i’ll make myself clear.

Are you sure thats not a cross over slide?

I call it cross-down since the slide goes under the character. I’d call it cross over if you point me out what would allow to do so.

Point is, you have to block that slide in the down forward position right? Or is it an unblockable, meaning there is no way to block that setup?

Yeah, you can do right or left, the slide will hit no matter what lol. It is unblockable.

That’s the dirtiest thing in ST. I remember hydlide did that to me 3 times in a row. What a dick head.
