Online rank means nothing, and with Ranked Battle, it doesn’t matter where you’re ranked, you can still play low ranked people at any point. Also, G1 and SG players were trash in SF4 anyway. Complete scrubs. No different from what I’m facing now.
You get BP/PP from Ranked Match only… and yeah, they have a grade system like arcade SF4, only it starts at D. The highest ranked players, at least on PSN, right now are at Grade B. We’ll see how high it gets.
That’s not true in any way, shape or form.
Tournament mode is probably not finished. If that’s the case, what you’re really saying is that you wish SSF4 got pushed back, so Capcom could include Tournament Mode (a largely useless mode, btw) on the disc. No thank you, IMO.
This is only true if you’re the host. When you’re the host, you can only leave from the lobby since if you leave mid-match it’ll dump everyone back to the lobby.
yea this blows, you can thank pussy ass japanese players who feel its disrespectful. while us americans think its funny…
anyways, you can still buffer a super to come out after ko. looks cooler than vanilla too, seems like theres more pause and the screen stays dark for longer…
Glad that there is not more smileys, now if you want to upset the other player, you have to really take risks & use taunts, no more whine through smileys
blind character select is great, online is supergreat (waiting for tournament though)
perhaps TV channels could help filtering the match we want to see (ie from top player)
the only thing i don’t like for now is dudley dragon punch trade to whatever DP/super/ultra/duck HK, doesn’t seem fair when trade to ultra was removed from other char. the dudley DP to whatever without cancel is funny too, a bit cheap. Anyway i don’t know yet if this makes dudley the new sagat.
Nah, as JWong put it, Dudley’s more like the new Rufus, a lot of setups to Ultra, a lot of great combos, but purely rushdown, can’t really play defensively and hold a lead. Sagat can play offense and defense exceptionally well which is why he’s the cream of the crop, because once he gets a life lead (and he will), he can sit on it for a good long time, and he has great health. Dudley can’t hold that lead because he can’t stop the opponent from rushing his own ass down.
The thing about color 12 is that i think it looks fine while you’re moving around and doing shit during the fight. If your characters in the idle stance though, it just looks weird considering that the characters in motion but the cross-hatching is completely still. It’s almost like that layer effect in chowder. It does look nice during the win pose/quote screen though, but that could just be because it’s a still image.
**1. No Post-KO Hits/Taunts/FADC/YogaTower **
Capcom; I would pay $4 for this as DLC! Early Kill Ultra + Burning Background YogaTower FTW
**2. No Player Match **
yes, I know Endless 1v1 supplants this; but it’s a dumb move when some of us really liked Player Match and now feel betrayed
**3. Blind Select needs to be optional in Unranked Play. **
I never understood the counter-picking fear in unranked play. suck it up. I miss watching my opponent scroll around… I miss hovering over Random (double random)
4. Blanka’s Hitbox is still questionable
No other character has such a wonky hitbox; Capcom didn’t seem to agree with me(us) and left Jimmy’s hitbox a mess.
5. Lariat still glitch-hitting a sweeping LARGE.CHAR the 1st time
Yes, 2nd time will be punishable; but IMHO it still encourages/rewards deep.Lariat Spam; I guess right and sweep (LARGE.CHAR) and he doesnt guess at all–just spams Lariat–and is rewarded.
don’t like the fact nothing’s been upgraded aesthetically (a tweaked shader doesn’t count). don’t like the fact there are no changes to the system, no tweaks even. just as slow and defensive. most characters lost options and everyone is less interesting. no changes to block stun. makoto looks, feels, and plays like ass.
it feels exactly the same, actually it’s just underwhelming and i kind of feel ripped off. they didn’t do enough, nowhere near enough other than add characters and a few more stages. oh, and why in heaven’s name can you only practice in the training stage? seriously? didn’t they pay any attention to our requests? and what’s up with ryu’s shoryu? has even less risk now since you’d might as well do lp shoryu every time you reversal. in a sense it’s exactly the opposite of what they should have done. throws are still ass too. df dive kicks can be blocked low now, even more reason to rarely block high other than jump ins.
this game feels like it was rushed faster than the first sf4.
only some of the new characters like ibuki, dudley, guy, juri, and hakan make the game interesting. everything else feels compressed and more tame.
Just checking, the game doesn’t assign any important actions to L/R trigger on the 360 does it? Previously it was only scoreboard navigation and smilies.
I’m pretty sure it’s the whiny online scrubs that like to send hatemail and get offended by taunts. The US TvC removed the option to go all out after you win by hitting start, which was present all the versus series games and even the Japanese TvC. It’s a US thing…
no post k.o. hit sucks especially when you’re gen. you can’t change stances anymore after you k.o. your opponent. gotta wait until the second round. fuckin lame.
I mean graphics wise, i knew what i was getting into, since they only promised the character based upgrades and additional content. Everything else is the same exact engine, so that aesthetic aspect doesn’t bother me. They even gave us an updated menu look, and all that original background art too…
My aesthetic concern, since we’re on that topic, lies only in that the original IV fighters character art remained the same. I think it would’ve been nice to maybe change that up somewhat and give us something new so at least more aspects of the game feel original and not so much rehashed (even though this is what part of the game essentially is). This could also just be my artist side talking but a lot of the newer characters art stands out when compared next to the older art, It seems more complete and properly done (like compare DeeJay’s art to Chun). Regardless, It’s just a small aspect that i wish they considered.
But as i’ve been saying, this game wasn’t bought for the art alone…
The fat that they don’t have player matches. I get tired of getting my butt handed to me trying out the new characters. I have yet to win 1 match with the new characters. Everyone has either more BP than me or using their mains from Vanilla and just destroying me.
i cant comment on the tvc stuff, but i read in one of the ono blogs that was translated that brought this up. he specifically said its offense to the japanese. they complained.
That’s exactly what I think. When I saw early gameplay footage and I saw the pre-fight screen, the characters looked out of place compared to the new characters. I hoped they would update them though.
Lame. i guess i’ll add whoever is using the new chars and play private matches with them. I’m sick and done with the vanilla cast and highly tempted to disconnect when coming across them in SF4.
Yeah, I’m not too thrilled that player matches aren’t an option for fight requests in SSF4 arcade mode. Your more susceptible to a rage quit when its strictly ranked then when it’s just endless lobby.
Don’t like how the game doesn’t ask for your approval to leave after someone rage quits (you can’t screenshot that shit anymore what will happen with ragequitters.com) on you and how it doesn’t show a players disconnect rate. The game seems to cater to the scrubby rage quitters.
Team battles are fun but I wish they allowed you to pick your own teams instead of randomly assigning people teams. I can’t have 3 other friends with me and expect to be on the same team as them. Also, I would have liked 2 different formats for team battles. Pokemon style which is the one the game uses and SBO style where Player A fights Player A, Player B fights Player B, etc… It would probably take longer but I feel cheated when I’m anchor and the 1st player OCV’s the other team.
